I really like being able to choose if I got a word right or wrong, the fact that I can only learn reading Kanji without writing them, and the way it sets the repetition intervals. However, there are many mistakes and no correction feature, which is of course fatal for a learning app. Also, when a word needs to be shown again later in the same session, it should be put at the end. Otherwise, if I get the last word wrong, it will just get shown to me three times in a row. App deleted my progress
I love this app! It contains only the most essential information so it's very efficient for vocabulary building. It'll be even better if there is audio (even machine-generated pronunciation is fine). However, I think the description is a bit misleading - there are over 16000 cards but not 16000 words because each word corresponds to two cards. From my understanding, there are only around 8000 words. Can the developer clarify if that's the case?
This is my favorite vocab app. It provides more personalization of your learning style rather than the automatic ones. You *choose* to let it know when you know a word, then you can pick the interval for when to repeat it. You wanna repeat it every day? You can. Already knew it and just wanna review every 7? You can. You also choose from lists sorted n5-n1, which I really liked. That way you don't waste time on what you already know. It also has an option to turn off hiragana, for kanji study.
I absolutely love this app, and have used it almost every day for years. I recently upgraded to an Android 9.0 phone, and at first, the app simply crashed immediately on launch. But after the author updated it and recommended that I clear the storage (due to a potentially corrupted database) it's working perfectly again. Thanks!
Love it. I'm learning new words daily. It really works through repetition, the learning is effective. A suggestion for the app: organize some of the words. For example, show the days of the month, the numbers in order on a first view so we can organize it in order in our minds. I don't care much about the other words, but when it comes to counting, it is necessary.
There isn't anything with sentence structure or how to write the kanji, but in general a very useful tool for kanji memorization. Would be nice if you could specifically look up words you often have trouble with, but there is a dictionary with all the words in the deck so it's not impossible. One of the better structured apps I've found for kanji
It is a good app, with nice premade srs decks. I really like the option to turn hiragana readings on/off while reviewing. Would be a lot better if you can choose to edit the cards or ignore/delete words if you've already know them. Also, having audio/pictures with the cards will make studying more enjoyable. Other than that the app works great!
This is exactly what I was looking for. A good, randomized vocabulary practice that allows you to pick your JLPT study level. Good repetitive intervals for long term memory. A lot of JLPT study apps are just practice tests, which aren't helpful if you don't know the vocab yet, or the flashcards are all in alphabetical order. I highly recommend this if you're studying for the JLPT.
RIP to this app. This used to be the best app on JLPT vocab till it was botched up. I don't mind the ads but at least keep the old format. More options for the user for example keeping japanese word as the question instead of now just randomly be English or Japanese word. Also dark mode is easy on the eyes like the last version. The old version of this app circa 2018 was 100x better than this garbage version.
why 5 stars ? this app is so simple to understand and to use .Even if it contains the ads, they're so short . But ads are not a problem since you spend much time in learning flashcards (more than 3 minutes or more depending on your daily cards learnt) than watching the ads for just like 4 seconds or 5. The App Is Amazing for real - once you finishes N5 vocabulary, you're assured that You didnt miss a word & you can move on to the next one , or learn N5 & N4 at same time.
This app is amazing and I love to use it for studying. I have a suggestion, can there be a text to speech feature where you can hear the pronunciation of the word you're learning? When the feature is added I'll make my rating five stars :) (thank you for making the ads non intrusive)
Very very easy to use. It's great to have the vocab by JLPT level. The only drawback for me is that for the vocab always seems to show kanji even where the kanji is JLPT 1 level, which means either trying to learn more kanji than I can cope with, or making separate cards outside the app to learn the kanji. Despite this I find it incredibly helpful at accelerating my vocab learning The ads are not al all intrusive
I love this app. It's just flashcards of the JLPT vocabulary and that's exactly what I wanted. It was $1.49 to upgrade to the version without ads - I would pay that much and more just not to have to make my own flashcards. Recommend 100%.
Fantastic app! Exactly what I need to learn the N5 vocabulary. The only problem is that I had to reset my phone to factory defaults and I had to start all over with the flashcards. It would be nice to have a cloud or SD backup, but besides that, it's a great app.
Best app EVER. LOVE IT. Excellent app. Simple to use, no log in nonsense, no nothing, just awesome. It allows you to add as many new cards as you wish, 20 a day? Done, 0 today? Done! It switches between asking the japanese word to asking the translation, which is soo helpful! Ads are non intrussive too which is a + When this app was not working on android 9 i started looking for a replacenent, and i didnt find ANY app that could do the job 1/3 as well. Plus its super light memory wise!
I like it a lot, it's really helpful and I love how they regularly repeat certain words, that way it's hard to forget the things you learned already! There's only a few ads and they aren't distracting at all. I highly recommend this app if you want to learn more Japanese vocab! 👀✨
It's a pretty good app, however, there are certain words featured in kana that, in the real world, I almost exclusively see written in kanji, and vice versa- there are even obsolete/non-jouyou kanji featured. Also, some decks have multiple ways to say a given word, but you have no way to tell which one is being tested until those cards are flipped. It would be nice if those cards were numbered like so (1) (2) to tell them apart.
Changes between English - Japanese / Japanese to English, brings up cards that need reviewing automatically, and they're words that you really do need to review because you choose the amount of time before seeing it again after you've flipped the card. Huge plus for this, you can turn off the furigana. Only feature I suggest- I wish it had a way of only showing the kanji of the JLPT level one is doing and having the rest of the word in hiragana.
All in all really helpful. Good: amount of new words per day is adjustable Flashcards are randomized You have cards for kanji->english and english->kanji separated Bad: some translations are very vague and not really explained or only partially correct You can't redo a days set without getting new cards Kanji which are contained in other words don't come first, that would be very helpful All in all helpful but use together with a professional who can explain certain things.
Very helpful for studying at different JPLT levels. It allows you to rate how well you know a word which determines how often it will come up in quizzes. Ads are not intrusive and every time you complete a quiz the app gives you a high five, which is a nice touch.
I really enjoy this app so far, i love that you can choose in how many days the vocab reappears and that its dividend in JLPT levels so you can really set yourself some goals. The reviewing really helps a ton, will definitely keep using it and I recommend it to everyone!
Love this app. The only reason it isn't a 5-star is because there isn't word pronunciation within the app. Currently, I have to jump to a dictionary app to make sure I get the pitch accent correct. If this feature could be added, it would be awesome!
Very good app, repetition always helps with learning vocabulary, and the fact that you have more options than just Yes/No on whether you know a word (like Don't Know/Hard/Good/Easy) helps the app know how often it should bring up a word again for you to memorize it.
Consistently learning 20 new words a day, one JLPT level at a time.. exactly what I was looking for! The fact that I can see less of words I'm comfortable with and more of one's I'm not is amazing. Thanks for making this! Also - thanks for making the ad free upgrade super affordable.
App seems fairly good. I liked the fact that they did not ask for any large sum of monry for removing ads like some other apps so I removed them. Edit: Please add the option to save progress by connecting to google account otherwise if I change my device I will lose my progress.
One of the best app to learn the JLPT vocab quickly. I'd just like an option to see the "score/progress" on each word when browsing the list. In order to be able to check the weak points.
This make learning more easier, my new favorite flashcards app :) NO DISRUPTIVE ADS. TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT. Just no audio but I try to speak by myself so i try to remember the words. UPDATE: That actually worked, thank you for this wonderful app I'll totally recommend this.
Only just started using it, but the only complaint I have thus far is that when reviewing the character 十(とお)it does not specify that it's looking for the COUNTER "too" instead of simply the number ten "juu," so some clarity would be beneficial in these situations for those of us who do not need the kana
It's amazing.. I have really bad memory but this makes it easy to learn vocabulary.. I really appreciate the team behind it and wish for a similar app for kanji .. it's perfect for any level of learner
I really like this app! Overall I think it's a great way to learn new vocabulary and practice the ones you already know. My only complaint is that I can't learn a new set of cards without reviewing the ones that I already learned. Even with the review mode turned off it gives me the new and old cards instead of just the new set. So if there was a way to just learn new cards without reviewing at the same time I would give it 5 stars. I'm not sure if it's just my app that's bugged or not.
