You just can't change speed during playing. Stop playing, adjust speed, and play again. It's a great tool, but there are few JP poscasts. Looking forward to a richer content.

However, changing speed does not seem to work.
If you're learning Japanese this app is a great way to get an ear for the language and sharpen your listening comprehension. It could use an update, as it doesn't use the new media features of android like lock screen controls, but it does what it does well.
