Original post: It is a little difficult to use the extra features, but getting from point A to point B is almost idiot proof.

Very easy to use. Reserve or directly call a cab without having to talk on the phone. It tells you how much your ride will cost beforehand. Register a credit card for hassle-free payment at the end of your ride.

The app never works it always says there are no taxis available even when I was in a town where the taxi had stickers to download this app.

App is great to book your cab ahead of time. I found that it is hard to find a cab when you need it right away (in Okinawa). Probably would have been easier to find cabs in bigger cities. But, when I booked it ahead for another day, my booking was confirmed right away and it went very well. A message or a chat feature would be nice, so we could some how communicate with the driver... just to prevent miscommunications as to our whereabouts.

App needs a lot of improvement. For example, I cannot choose a car. Japan recently has new types of taxis designed for the Olympics, which suits me perfectly, especially if I'm using taxi with large luggage. Reservation is almost never available in the evening or early morning. Recent cancellation system is better though.

Broken links, continuous notifications that can't be turned off, crashes often, language changes back to Japanese randomly.. it's a complete disaster EDIT: if you want to "help solve the problem", fix your in-app links to help pages, which right now lead to a 404; add an option to turn off annoying daily notifications (or better, remove them altogether); translate the whole app in English if you give the English option, not only some.

Not good. They are sneaky with extra fees. Every explanation has a caveat (*) so you can't really trust anything they claim. When you tap to show reservation fee, pops up unhelpful message: "Prices vary by company." Need to go back, select a taxi company, and check one by one. Why not just show the reservation fees for all of them, instead of useless popup? App tries hard to hide all of the additional fees it has. Also their estimates on GoogleMaps (to try to lure you in) are all lies.

Didn't work any time I tried. The app doesn't show in advance whether a taxi is really available, so you go through a lengthy order process just to find out that no car is available. The pickup points are also incredibly finicky, so that the app often complaints even when you're standing right at the street and at a taxi stop. The app also states that it will charge you in advance when you order a taxi, instead of when the taxi or you arrive at the place.

This app is a life saver...when it works. I usually dont have any issue getting a cab to show up, and their service is prompt and very helpful. However, I dont like how sometimes I can see cabs in the area but they are never available during the morning hours, and the pick a time feature has never worked for me. Other than that I enjoy this app when I need it the most and I love that it is integrated with Google maps.

The app concept is good, but the service is not reliable at all. Right now it only has one taxi company available and most of the time you are unable to call a taxi on the go because there are none available. I used it mainly to book taxis in advance even though the app charges you extra fee for this, but now I can't even do that either. It tells me there's no taxis available for booking for a trip happening tomorrow.

Very easy to use and it greatly simplifies arranging taxi pickups throughout Japan!

I am really struggling with both Japan Taxi and Go apps. I have tried several times to pre-book a trip from my apartment in Tokyo (Shibaura) to Haneda (Terminal 3) as I have done several times in the past. I receive annoying notices telling me it is “Out of Coverage Area”. Obviously not….I can see Haneda Airport from my balcony. Also, when I try to uninstall the Japan Taxi app to upload the new Go app, I also receive error messages. 1/ Japan Taxi account cannot be deleted – because there is an incomplete order for this account. When I go to the order list to cancel active orders….there is nothing to cancel! 2/ When I try to upload the new Go App – I cannot. Saying the app is not available in my country. It used to be so easy and convenient, now it's just an annoying mess/endless loop of wasted time. Please help correct is so I can book a taxi to Haneda for this Saturday.

The app itself is fine once you get everything set up, but the set up interface is a pain in the behind. Your password can't contain special characters, your name HAS to be in katakana (not even Kanji!), and you can't use any coupon codes from friends unless you both have the same phone number country. This app will be so much easier to use if the setup didn't antagonize users.

Easy for foreigners! Even I didn't speak Japanese, booking was all done online. The arrival time of the taxi was exact as shown in the app. One thing they could improve on is that the expected price is not shown on the app from the beginning of your journey on an Android device. Over all great service!

The setup was quick. I only used the app for one taxi ride, but it was an important one. I was able to request a taxi easily and it arrived on time without any issues at all. I was able to easily switch to pay cash of Google Pay. Thank you for creating such a useful and intuitive app.

This app is NOT RELIABLE if you are in rush somewhere definitely do not use this app. Even if you have a reasonable amount of time do not rely on this app! It sometimes will not even be able to find drivers for a whole 20mins and theres not even an option to cancel the searching when it has been searching for over 4mins and you have to wait for it. This will just make you arrive late to your reservations and make you lose your money. I lost over $175 in reservations on relying on this app twice.

This is obviously the taxi industries response to Didi and Uber but it just fails. Taxis never know where I'm going when I get in . Even though I put the address in they never know. Often they will have to call someone up to get directions instead of putting it into the GPS. On top of this, the drivers often don't know about the payment having to contact someone to check how it works.

I do not speak Japanese but was able to navigate this app. The only thing that took me awhile was identifying the pick up point since the pointer moves with the map. But once I figured it out no issues. The cab was on time, driver was corteous and I was able to pay with Google Pay.

Please increase the radius on the map when reserving/scheduling a pick up. I tried to reserve multiple taxis while I saw plenty in motion via the in-app map and kept getting an error stating that none were in my area. I ended up walking an hour. Once that is fixed, I will gladly give 5 stars.

I dont recommend this app for foreigners unless you are fluent in Japanese. Will get charged double the rate stated and you won't be able to dispute. Much easier to just grab a cab on the street, they pass through most roads constantly and less time wasted waiting for a cab from the app.

App never worked, tried to flag a taxi twice. First time, app said I wasn't in a place I could be picked up even though I was right on the street and didn't let me book a taxi. Second time, I booked a ride and the taxi never showed. Tried to cancel to only have the app give an error code. Uninstalled. Hot garbage, better off just sticking your arm out. Only two-stars because the app looks nice

Maps are a bit confusing. Both times I entered the address the drivers called dispatch to make sure the address came. Through I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if it was the app. I am happy they double checked. So grateful

I ordered a cab, and then it showed on the map that it had arrived, but there was no cab. I called the number but no answer. eventually the little car on the map disappeared with no explanation. i ordered another car and this time it came and everything worked, but it was more expensive than the quote shown on Google maps

At the time of writing this the only way to use the app reasonably is to have the taxi pick you up when asap as setting up a time to pick you up feature either doesn't work or i could never get get it to work as of 10/19/19. Worked well once you figure out the caveats

Japan Taxi expects all tourists to buy a prepaid SIM card in Japan and use a local mobile number. This is very inconvenient if the tourists opt to keep their original (foreign) phone numbers or use their home network provider's international roaming service. If you happen to stay at a hotel or a friend's home you can register a local number. But what if you're staying at an AirBnB accommodation with no landline phone? At least Didi Taxi allows foreign phone number registrations.
