App experience is horrible. My server often doesn't even show up. And when I luckily get connected to it, it logs me out after closing the app, even though I check the "remember me" box. So I have to sign in to it every time I use the app.
I just started my own local server and when playing from the server on my Android. A lot of the movies don't have voice audio, but I can hear the background music. Is it a buggy build or is this operator error?
Everything works fine for me but i wish the video player was better, sometine it just keeps buffering and then i have to restart the video, plus there's also an audio delay in the video even though it is not in the original video.
Not that good of a client, the app doesn't support all video playback that emby supports, I have hvec media which is playable on other apps like emby or plex but this client does not support it.
Android 12 to Chromecast seems to have been borked. Won't find my Chromecast ultra... Will test new update soon. Thanks for the quick hotfix! <3
Works perfectly apart from some Chromecast snags here and there- which I imagine are at the fault of Google for not giving adequate tools/api to devs.
After the update Chromecast speaker options have been removed. Can't play music on Chromecast speakers.
No longer works at all on my phone. Works fine on Android TV, even on the phone browser, the app itself just doesn't connect to any server, all settings have been double-checked, retried, everything is being done correctly. No idea why this is happening. EDIT: Didn't change anything, but everything's working perfectly now. Thank you.
Update Android TV app with subtitle settings. The black background on subtitles is horrible.
It just werks. People who are complaining that it crashes, not working or xyz do not know how to do basic troubleshooting. They either have an incompatible hardware without hardware acceleration, corrupted media file, unstable network or just paid plex shills. Jellyfin is superior because it's open source, stable and offers countless features other software don't. Big thanks to the devs!
Better than Emby from which it's forked, but still has the same base code which is plagued by unreliability issues especially with Chromecast. IF that was reliable, this would easily be 7 stars out of 5. As it is, when it works it's great. But, you can't always be sure you can turn it on and actually watch your stuff. Looking forward to continued development.
I am so grateful there is a free alternative to Plex. Installed the server on Windows and tried running a few videos on the Android app. Did not face any problems. Everything seems to run smoothly. Suggestions: I like viewing my files in list view, so I would prefer options that would let me quickly switch to a list view for all the folders, sub folders and files within. Looking forward to the updates!
Love Jellyfin! I moved away from Plex and the only thing holding it back is if you're casting, and turn subtitles on or off it'll end the video. There is also a bug where the player controlls will stay on the screen and the only way to fix it is restart the video. Edit: it cast great to the desktop MVP client. Casting directly to a tv is where my issues rise, but it's might just be an issue on my end.
would love it if there was an equalizer but I get that it's still a WIP so that might not come until later. and I'm unsure if this is a common issue but while I don't have a problem with playback in any other condition, I can't seem to get the app to continue playing music even if the screen is off. Data Saver is NOT on, and nothing else is blocking data while my screen is off. so unless there's some option that I'm missing, music playback is limited when the screen on your phone is off.
The app is easy to set up and looks good. It's also easy to navigate, so all good so far. The only issue standing in the way of a 5 star review is that I'm finding that the app struggles to resume playing a video in the same place it was left before. Now, it remembers where the last viewed position was, but just sits on a spinning wheel. If this is fixed in future releases, it'll be excellent.
A decent effort so far, but its very buggy. During playback when using the mobile app as a remote to stream on the TV, the app fails to resume properly, usually leading to the app crashing. To summarise. If I start playing a film from my phone to stream on the TV, then close my phone screen, sometimes when I return to the app to pause or stop play on the TV, the app just crashes or takes a long time to respond and then locks up. Server is fine
This app was what I wanted from Plex. Now I can watch my content wherever I go without worry of my memory. However, I have encountered moments when playing my media where the play and skip backward buttons disappear. I also don't see the seek buttons at all despite activating them in the settings. Hopefully, this is fixed in an update.
It's a good app when it works. Video streaming works fine, but playing music is flakey. It often stops playing if I multi-task with music playing (and yes, I have battery optimizations turned OFF). Android Auto doesn't always sync with what I've queued in handheld mode and even more strangely it doesn't display all my albums unless I'm in handheld. They are are trying to refractor the database schema which itself should fix a lot of bugs. I am eager to see how this community project improves.
Absolutely awesome. It would be great to have the option to 'stop playback on headphone unplug/disconnect'. right now, music just keeps playing. update: release mention 'pause on disconnect', but its not working with Bluetooth. i havent tested wired headphones. my version is 0.91. Update*** Unreal, great, new update makes the app better.
Love it, although it has a LOT of bugs... Chromecast crashes on some movies, can't change audio language on some 720p movies or above. Video loading is slow, but if you use kodi with the official jellyfin plugin it is really fast and can handle hd movies too with my raspberry pi 3b+ server. So the server is awesome, the app is sooo glichy, kodi can fix it, but that can't cast to chromecast. So I use this, I love it when it works
Connects well to home server, good interface for regular users, but could use some UI refinement in the admin space. Moving buttons are a slight annoyance there from screen to screen. Playback is very good, especially given ISP upload rate restrictions for on-the-go home networking. Doesn't kill my old laptop-turned-server when transcoding with ffmpeg. Security is a work in progress, no TOTP support off the bat, but has LDAP support. This may be the biggest area that needs improvement.
Subtitle support is completely broken. Plays fine in Web browser, but turn on subs in app and the video will refuse to play. Major problem if you watch anything with a foreign language or if you are hearing impaired. Whilst Web browser is an alternative, that brings its own set of issues (mainly that the video control UI sometimes persists forever, blocking out large sections of the picture).
Absolutely no voulme control when playing videos. Music is fine but video is always max voulme no matter what the volume slider says. To be fair there is no voulme control when playing jellyfin videos through a web browser either so it's probably an overall problem rather than this app. Otherwise works ok.
