I found the app changes the question when orientation changes or switching between apps, and popups can also interfere, and navigation back and forward seems a bit off also - all leading to a poor experience. I'm not sure about the answer quality - an answer made no sense, but might be a one-off.

If you are studying for the JLPT than this is very useful along with the n4,n3 et cetera. I found myself learning a slew of useful words simply as a result of their frequency. My one problem is that the questions get reptitive after a bit and you are never marked on the total amount of correct or incorrect answers.

As for the question "きのう、日本語の 辞書を 買いに 行きました、" the app chose the answer "nihongo no" which is absolutely incorrect. Do not download this app if you don't want to learn the wrong stuff. You better stick to the official test guide in the JLPT website instead.

For people complaining that there is no English, it might come to a shock but that is how the real test is. So I recommend you screen shot the page, put the image into the Google translate app, and learn the questions! This is definitely N5 level, no doubt. Maybe for learning purposes, the developer can add a separate category for learning the questions, but I don't think it's necessary. My only complaint is that it seems like the questions go on forever, no end, or score. It's good practice though.

Its ALL in Japanese. People who are at level n5 aren't fluent so it would be difficult to use this app. It really seems like it could help with the jlpt n5 but it seems like its targeted to people who are way passed that level because NOTHING is in English. Its like they just assumed n5 people already know a lot of Japanese.

This app is really great to test basic grammar structures and review early kanji and vocabulary. However, certain aspects of the app are not completely functional. For instance, when doing questions of a particular type, the app has a tendency to repeat and cycle a select few questions. This was especially a problem on the grammar type 2 questions. Another issue is that the listening portions don't play well, and I haven't been able to get them to work at all on my end. Lastly, some of the questions are missing information, requiring context that could have only been acquired in a separate passage, such as when a certain person would be free, or which transportation system a certain person should use in a certain circumstance. If these things were fixed, it would merit a 5 star, but for now, 3 seems fair enough

Decent questions, but oh boy couldn't you have included some English in the menu and explanations? It'd be much easier to refer to a light-grey text to the side of the Japanese text (or touch to translate), but instead you assumed we'd know all the kanjis you throw our way? We're not that fluent yet and a helping hand would be nice : / The UI could use a little polish as well.

This app is a solid study tool for all five JLPT levels, however, it treats all five levels as if the users are fluent in Japanese. I would give it five stars, but it needs hiragana and English for N5 and N4, then hiragana and kanji for N3, and then N2 and N1 can keep the kanji. As new learners, N5 and N4 will be only guesswork and not very helpful for learning without instruction. Even the tests use furigana on difficult kanji not used within that level. Perhaps provide a N-Primer app as an introduction?

The app doesn't have English because it's a practice app for the JLPT test, which is 100% Japanese. Educate yourselves.

I will be doing my first JLPT test, so this will be great practice for me, however since I'm just starting off, maybe for this app only, you could add a setting were you can change the questions to romaji. This way for u beginners we can see what language is in the test and start to learn it.😊😄 however I think that this app is amazing.

Sound does not normally work, and most questions that are supposed to have a prompt are missing it

Useful app, but author should spend time to review questions/answers carefully, or user will confuse and waste time on it.

The adverts are too intrusive. You dismiss one and another pops up right away. Then another! One advert at any one time should be enough.

Adds keep on popping how can we use this if the adds keep on popping the hell.

Lat. I. Oct 15, 2014

Can you please give the instruction in English?

Bev. J. Dec 4, 2016

Yes, it's all in Japanese but that's how the real papers are. I did it for a day before the exam to familiarise to the format. There's a few questions with wrong answers though!

Only one test, which is on jlpt website already. And it's all in Japanese, which makes it easier to do on jlpt website.

Some questions have incorrect answers. Ads are disruptive, appearing multiple times in quick succession, and questions change if you switch apps or if ads appear. Very frustrating and incondusive for learning.

Jas. J. Oct 20, 2016

First question said ふじ山 and wanted the hiragana for 山. The correct answer is さん, but app wanted やま, which is not the correct reading when used as a suffix after the name of a mountain.

Reading and listening files are missing, which causes a lot frustration to users.
