Better than the official app. Edit: I'm using it for several months now. The app is well updated, the UI works well. I bought the ad removal option only to support the development because it's worth it. The ads weren't invasive and annoying, it's just some pictures between posts. You can use the app and not buying the remover so far. You can even select the amount of money you give for the ad removal. Very altruistic, big up to the team.

I use this app all the time. However, over the last week or two, the Play store keeps opening up to different apps to download while I'm randomly browsing. I will be hands free, reading something, and these intrusive ads will interfere with whatever I'm doing. This doesn't happen in any other app. While this situation is merely annoying to me, I'm fearful that there are now other ways thru Joey to access my phone as I've never seen an ad forcefully close an app and take me to the store before.

Joey is an organized and feature-rich client for Reddit. After having used the app for well over a year, I have not run into any difficulties in navigating towards any content on the site. Joey, in fact, provides a useful cataloging system for saved posts/comments that allows for easier retrieval than on the base website. The app is rather insistent on review support, but the experience is solid enough overall for this to not be a major detractor.

Still the best! I've had the app since 2018 and love the customisation of almost everything. Font size (thank you, I'm old and too many apps don't let you change font size), dark mode, comment depth, how many lines of preview.. Others have complained about ads, but for me they are at the bottom of the screen and don't bother me much (that's another thing you can customise). The developer seems very responsive to questions too.

Best reddit app by far. I've used the official app (eye hurting, kind of haphazard), Relay (pretty good but not as customizable), and reddit is fun (function-wise perfect but unappealing UI), and this one has come out on top. It has a significant lag issue but makes up for it in other departments. Minimal ads, beautiful interface, extremely high level of customization. Definitely the best.

Came from Reddit Sync Pro - which i left due to video playback bugs. Joey feels snappier, no obvious bugs (yet!), and otherwise feels very familiar and is essentially a drop in replacement. The gestures/animations are perhaps a tad much for my taste, but aren't an issue in the grand scheme of things since you can just disable/ignore lots of it.

Awesome features, extremely customizable, amazing app...when it works. More often than not, I'll get an error message saying "Reddit servers are busy, try again later" or "check your internet connection". Really frustrating. My connection is fine and so is Reddit. I use 2 other Reddit apps and they never have an issue loading. I don't know what Joey's problem is. I really want to love it, but the damn app doesn't even work. Disappointed!

It's an amazing app, easy to use from start (it explains most features/shortcuts as you begin to use it in a form of mini windows pop-ups that are not annoying), very rich in functions and quite customizable, it's a pleasure to use it, I think it is the best app for reddit to be used on tablets and big screen phones, especially on foldables.

Quick, minimalist, customizable, good looking with a friendly user interface so it was an easy switch from the reddit app. And the most important aspect for me, it doesn't drain the battery as much as the official app. The phone doesn't get hot while using it.

Tried out at least 7 other third-party apps for reddit (because the original app doesn't let me play videos anymore) and this is by far the best one for me. You can hide posts you've already clicked on (a feature reddit should've added years ago), swipe between posts, and basically adjust every little thing that you might want to change.

I've tried most of the other popular alternative reddit apps recently because we all know the default reddit app is trash and progressively gets worse. This one after tweaking a bit is the best to me currently. The others all seem to either not receive updates regularly enough or just have missing features. Joey is up to date and everything works well and smooth. My only very small gripe is you Swipe up/down instead of left/right to go through image galleries and they don't auto close.

Kinda wish some of the icons were bigger (woo bad vision), but overall it's really good as long as you put in the time to tweak the theme/post style to fit your tastes. Love that Material You is a theming option, don't love that the right sidebar doesn't have my favorite subs or the frontpage/all/popular feed options for quicker movement. The popular subs are nice, but they're not my cup of tea y'know?

Though it might be missing a few small features here and there, the app as a whole is amazing. The comments, the video player, as well as the look and customization are all excellent, and far superior to the native Android Reddit client.

I like the interface and overall look n feel of the app but lately it has gotten worse with the ads. It used to show the ads in the app as banner and posts but now they're popping up (open external browser and apps automatically). Here I thought popup ads are thing of the past

I had been a long time user of Boost for Reddit but I have to say I have fully switched to Joey. A few weeks ago Boost started having trouble loading pictures, videos, gifs, ect so I tried Joey. I think the amount of customization is perfect and the performance has been flawless so far. Took me about 15 minutes to get everything set up how I like it and it's a breeze to use.

Edit : The issue got resolved and it gets a 5 star rating. Still my go-to app for Reddit with the most customisability. I bought the ad-free version and gave it 5 stars. Now I'm getting ads and have followed all troubleshooting instructions of what to do if they return. Nothing works. Feels like an attempt to remonetize people who have already paid. If this gets solved I'll give 5 star again.

I like Joey, it was nice to be able to filter out some subreddit and posts so I no longer accidentally saw people die on my feed. However, I have recently had an inappropriate ad and even though I have removed it and said I don't want to see it anymore, it keeps reappearing, so I guess I wi have to find a different way to go on reddit. Changed to four stars because I came back, I reinstalled it, the ads are gone and I really missed the filter.

Ker. K. May 15, 2022

I've tried all the reddit apps with above 4.0 rating. It takes a little bit to set up the way I want it, but I can actually do it and I'm happy with it. Definitely the best option esp if you're willing to but in some effort.

Tyr. H. Mar 21, 2022

The best 3rd party app for Reddit. Constantly evolving and improving, even though it already has more features than any other reader. A much better experience than any other social media app out there.

Tia. F. Apr 2, 2022

The zoom in videos function has been broken for some years now. When I zoom in during a video, it'll jump up on my screen, generally going a little outside the screen. This happened both in my S8+ and on my S20 FE.

**update: Not having a block feature is a huge deal, especially with the amount of trolls suddenly on the platform. Knocked it down a star. Best Reddit App! So many features, everything is customizable and the best part...when you click refresh, it actually gets rid of the stuff you've already seen. The one bad thing is there is no way to block users and posting things from Google photos doesn't seem to be supported.

thy. o. May 19, 2022

The app stopped working for a bit, so I updated my review to 1 star. Within a day the dev seems to have fixed it. 5 stars once again, great app. 2 years later I'm still using it and it's still great! Update: Still works great, still 5 stars! I don't think I'll ever use a different reddit app.

Daw. S. May 5, 2022

Simply said, the reddit app I have been waiting for. Take my word for it and check it out. I've been a redditor for 9 years and I've tried just about every app out there. This one does just about anything you would want an app to do. I can't imagine needing more except maybe if it could do my dishes 🤔

Alb. A. Jan 10, 2022

Still great, however ads and absurd initial pricing has put me off. Probably still the best reddit app out there, but I'm no longer using it. Edit: Kept using it, still one of the best, but have added sound ads that do not match the banner ad. They cannot be muted, continue playing even when you leave the app, Watch a video, or click a photo. Making the app literally unusable.

Aro. Mar 15, 2022

Installed because the video player of the official app rarely works. After seeing all the customization an QOL changes this app offers, I don't think I'd ever be able to go back. Great job!

Mer. C. Apr 9, 2022

It plays external videos with sound natively in the app. Easy downloads too. Once you get used to it, it's hard to go back to the official app.

Sis. R. Apr 3, 2022

Switched because of reddit's awful video player, and this might be the only app that retained reddit's best features! You can swipe left for the next post and just swipe up for the comments (which load at the same time as the post)
