John Gill (b. 23 Nov 1697, d. 14 Oct 1771), was an English Baptist writer and theologian. Gill was a strong Calvinist. This work is considered his magnum opus, a commentary on the entire Bible. This was originally published in two parts, the 3 volume An Exposition of the New Testament (1746-8), and the 6 volume An Exposition of the Old Testament (1748-63). Gill was a life-long Hebrew scholar, and he also learned Greek by age 11.
Gill’s commentaries are still widely used today by laity and pastors, being theologically sound and practical for daily study. Gill makes the Scripture accessible and applicable to the everyday reader, believing that sound doctrine impacts daily life. Easy to use. Informative. Gill is a favorite of mine for further insight into meaning of word particularly clarity on words that have changed. Great to find such an easy guide to Gill's explanations. He also always gives the Glory to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Very good app 👌👍 I appreciate you people for making the word of God completely free. My only appeal is to include cross references and to correct the apps failure to return you to your previous verse whenever my screen is in rotation mode! You have to fix that please!!
I have used Gill's commentary for several years. It is excellent. I especially like that he states several possible interpretations when one cannot be certain of what the interpretation is, as well as expanding on one interpretation to clearly show 2 or more applications. I am not a calvinist as he was, but he does not veil his doctrinal beliefs. I am greatly aided by his commentary in my Bible study.
It is nice to have a quick commentary available to get some insight into unique passages of scripture. sometimes the inside is invaluable, sometimes not , but it's worth having something easily available to assist.
The app is very fast to open. To scroll through the books and pages is so quick. Searching for a commentary is made so easy since the presentation is on verse by verse basis. The content is very detail and the contents are true Bible commentary to help really understand the Bible. The app is my main Bible commentary for my daily Bible reading and the first commentary for all my Bible references since its so easy and fast to refer. I recommend the app for every person that wants to study Bible.
I use this app every time I am in scripture. I find Gill to be very detailed. I have used Gills commentary at my desk for years. I have the app on both my phone and tablet. Thank you for making it available. Highly recommend it to any serious person who studies the word.
I have enjoyed using it since I downloaded but now it started to behave improperly, like as I want to press on a particular verse to read, it often skip off back to the books or another page. By the way it works good as usual and I enjoy using it.
Excellent app - well done, developers!!! This resource of John Gill's research and analysis is by far the very best commentary I've used. True scholarly work that is extraordinarily practical and deep. Completely consistent with original biblical contexts in the corresponding Bible verses, the supporting detail in his analyses makes full use of other research among fellow scholars, early Church fathers, and Hebrew rabbis. Awesome historical value! This is a very practical app!
If you want to go in depth on the meaning conveyed in the description of Ezekiel's Temple, this is the commentary to get you there. Gill borrows from other works extensively, always documenting everything, so the reader gets a feel for conventional wisdom on each passage. Gill's is a passionate analysis. The richness of language and thorough explanation keeps me returning for more insight.
Love this app. So handy to use and it does exactly what I need it to. Love Gill and his commentary. The app is extremely easy to navigate and is fab for a good in depth study of scripture.

It took a day or so to figure out how to turn the page to the next verse (swipe L or R), that was frustrating, but other then my own ignorance, this app has been a wonderful gift from God. It has added time to my studies by eliminating the google searches.
So far when I use this app, I'm not able to look up words to get a clearer understanding of their meaning and when I jump from one chapter to the next the app doesn't allow me to return to the original page. It would help if you could fix that.

It's a very good app to be recommended for a proper understanding of the Bible. It gives a concise and precise explanation of single verses of the scriptures.
So good, explains verses, gives background information, fills in the gaps, answers questions that may arise as U study the word. I love it so much, I always use it.
Excellent I have used ot before installing in my device and I found that it is really written by someone who has a deep understanding of the Scriptures. Also the original biblical languages.
I use this commentary constantly. It is Calvinistic in focus and maybe a little dated but still very insightful and rewarding. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes to study the scriptures.

The cross references are very instructive and enlightening. They make study of the Scripture very comprehensive and extensive. This Bible Commentary has improved my knowledge of the Scripture.
I've always appreciated Gill's commentary. The app is laid out well and easier to use than many desktop versions. I often open it along with whatever Bible app I'm using.

Good commentary with lots of details. But sometimes I wish some parts be summarised. Overall, I enjoy the app.

I would like a feature of allowing us to adjust background and text colors of values from 0-1.
