The app is a bit nicer looking after the update, but still clunky due to being filled with ads. It would be nice to view older articles; they added a search function, but it seems to only go back about 3-4 months. A Journal Star subscription is helpful for staying informed about my hometown, but $5 a month is quite steep given the small quantity of articles (their writing staff is quite small) and the huge amount of ads.
I have an active subscription to the PJ Star but I can't access the subscriber only articles.
Doesn't update with the day's articles. Only shows me one or two articles as new each day. I'm paying for it but not getting everything in the paper. Downloaded the other app but I don't like the newspaper layout.
I signed up for a yearly subscription, but everyday I have to uninstall & install it again for it to let me see anything. I thought that since I have a subscription at home that I pay almost $60 a month for that this app was free. Used to be! I guess not anymore.
We've signed up four times, emailed repeatedly and called and called. The app works for three days and then kicks us off.
Displays old news. Very slow to update the news! The app still has old news articles.
I like to read the paper, not read what you choose for me to read. Where is my old app with the paper?
cant get password changed plus I dont like the set up. want the look of newspaper like it was advertised
I'm a print subscriber and the access is lousy, time consuming , and cumbersome.
Does not update. Same articles for two days.
I have to uninstall and reinstall app constantly in order to view articles 😟
I like the old newspaper style.
Even the app cost money now. Garbage paper. Save your money.
Can't get on the damned thing.. Worthless
Once lived in illinois
Its been updated. I had it to keep up on obits. I'm from there and it was useful. Now I can't get them.
Annoying article limit redirects you to a subscription base service . Need to find a different revenue stream than trying to force us to subscribe, yes im cheap.
good, prob is u half to keep uninstalling an reinstalling.
Only lets you read a few article before you have to uninstall and install again
App worked great until a few days ago. Now it starts and freezes. Last update must have bugs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled App still broken. UPDATE: App is now working, I had to reduce the font size to get past the push notification screen. Thanks for the help Laura!
The app is okay. It would be nice if there was a setting that allowed you to default to news or entertainment when you open it. I don't want the top stories since they contain literally all the news from PJ Star, including local sports, which doesn't interest me. The old app kept only news in the top stories.
It's a total joke that you want me to pay to read your online paper. I can get local stories from other news and radio stations.
i repeatedly lose access even though i have paid for subscription. i made the decision to just go to a yearly subscription, but i continued to be charged a monthly fee. Whenever i complained thank me i was paying for two subscriptions, I lost access again.
Paying for the Journal Star makes no sense....
Defective
It no longer allows me to read as many articles as I want. Instead of making it a free app, charge your dollar e subscription fee to download. I'm tired of going to read an article and it says I've used up my number for the month. Just charge for the app people would understand that more than limiting the articles. Even CNN allows us to read whatever number of articles we want.
THIS APP IS GREAT, EXCEPT I DON'T HAVE THE PICTURES IN MY OBITUARIES. I WOULD LIKE 2 C THE PEOPLES FACES.
I've been using the free trial for a few days and there are hardly any fresh articles. For example the opinion section is stale. The news might have an article or 2 that are new.
