Just Ahead: Audio Tour Guides

Fantastic offline audio tours of national parks for the car. In addition to telling you about the park, it points out landmarks as they come into view, gives you a heads up on intersections and informs you of things to consider before going down a road (like whether or not it's paved). I was also surprised to learn that the tour continues outside the park. The only thing that could make it better would be adding tour information for hiking trails.

We love this app and only wish it was available for even more places. It has just the right amount of narrative and the information about side trips helps us to make decisions as we go and not miss something we'd really enjoy. We also like that we can click on icons along the route to replay sections we might have missed. The only thing we wish it could do is display a better map when we're offline (but we always have the paper map from the national park so it isn't really an issue). Love it!

Our son told us about an app called Just Ahead. They offer a free trial so we spent the afternoon touring Long Beach, our home town. The app is amazing!! it correctly alerted us to turn options to different areas of interest. It pointed out historic buildings and museums with interesting facts about each. Even though we are natives, we learned new things. The app was really easy to use and very accurate in directions and information. We can't wait to use it in parks like Zion and Pinnacles.

This is a wonderful app! It's extremely well-prepared; providing a plethora of geologic, historic and personal histories in a warm, professional and easily accessible manor, turning tedious driving experiences into an epiphanous delight. I have also found their IT/customer service resources to be extremely helpful. I once had minor challenges loading the app, and received immediate customer service support. I would recommend this app to anyone (even if you've already been there before). ;-)

Good tours and narration! However, current version on Android doesn't work well for Android P. Lots of crashes, only autoplays stories if screen kept active which app can't do itself (I used Google maps navigation while running Just Ahead in background). But then it crashed everytime I used another app while a tour was running. And, I feel the tour pricing can be better. I liked their customer service though, refunding me completely after I sent them these details on email. Thanks! *More than willing to update my review once they've fixed these issues.*

Fabulous Guide I purchased this guide in June 2018 for our trip through the Utah National Parks. The experience was like having a professional guide in the backseat of the car and significantly added to the trip. Integrated easily with the Bluetooth of my car, providing useful information in a timely fashion, and much better than having to read or being read to while driving. The app greatly added to an otherwise a boring drive between Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Looking forward to using it again.

Just Ahead is an absolutely unparalleled tour guide app. I have used it on multiple occasions and I cannot tell you how helpful it has been when going on hikes. I just visited Arizona and this app was so helpful to have handy! The voice is so soothing and adventuring at the same time. The information it had to give was so informative and historical that it just blew me away. The technology itself is just so cool and I can't wait to try it again. If you're on the fence about this, try it out!

Our family, in different configurations, have been regular visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains for decades. We recently finished a short spring break trip there, where for the first time we used the Just Ahead app. It was a total hit and frankly over performed what my expectations had been. So much information we had never known about over all these years enhanced the trip for everyone and lead to a few stops we had never made in all of our previous visits. Highly recommended.

WOW!!! What a brilliant concept. Went to Pam Desert for the weekend but who knew all of that information surrounding it?? We have passed those windmills 100 times but this time even the kids were fully enthralled! The tour is of such high quality and timely. The app itself is easy to use. When I say "if I can use it, you can too" it couldn't be more accurate. I am so excited about going on more trips with Just Ahead now. Will plan my next one based on this I feel just so I can make the most of a vacation. It even recommends places to eat along with the history and facts. Love, love, love this app, and I'm usually one to who's hard to please with technology. I highly recommend it.

Tour thru Big Bend was fantastic having this app running while we drove. Very informative and interesting. Glad my wife found it. If there is one thing as a suggestion, when passing a roadside stop that you are going to mention, give more or all the details, I do not have time to stop at all of them.

Used this app during a recent road trip through Utah and Southern California. I definitely recommend it! It is a guided tour, very informative and very well done. We learned so much about the sights we were seeing. Also, enjoyed the tidbits of information about the small towns and areas we were traveling through from park to park. You will enjoy this!

Audio is informative and well narrated...unfortunately the app is so buggy that it is not usable and some audio was not accessible even after purchasing. Even when I opened the app by itself and left it alone, it crashed often. Too bad, the idea is wonderful.

Loved using this app for our family trips. We loved being about to drive through the national park and get perfectly timed info of what we were seeing. It makes road trips so much more enjoyable for the whole family. The app was easy to download, use and worked perfectly even when we lost cell service!! It's a must for your next road trip, especially to a National Park.

Really enjoy using this app. It gives us information we wouldn't otherwise know about if we were just driving through the parks!! Get the paid version so you can download ALL the parks to your phone as you don't always have service through the parks. Bluetooth to your car radio to hear clearer!

I'm on holiday right now with my wife and so far we've used this app at Yosemite and will be using it at other parks in coming days. We initially had some issues with in-app payment but the tech support was quick and effective to sort this out for us. The app worked great with relevant and interesting narration and it behaved well alongside android auto maps and music/podcasts. I'm very satisfied with the app and will be recommending it to others when they visit this part of the world.
