Just Search
Just Search uses DuckDuckGo by default, but allows opting for Google, Bing, Yandex, Qwant, Yahoo or any custom search provider url.

Notes
- As an assist app, Just Search cannot be launched via the launcher. Users need to navigate to the device settings and change the default Assist app.

Could not make it default search becuz could Not find setting for Assist or Device Assist anywhere, even using the search tool (🔎) in Display or Apps (LG Stylo 3+ with most recent Android 7 uodate). This needs more concise instructions. SUBSEQUENT EDIT: The developer did respond to me, explained that manufacturers played around with the settings and kindly offered to assist. But by then i had moved to another.choice. Sorry developer but i bumped to 3 stars anyway bevuz you responded.
Hey I like your app a lot! I pointed Nova Launcher at it so search comes up with a press of the home button, rather than the long press. Doesn't seem possible with other launchers because it doesn't show up in the app list. Thanks for all your attention!
installed but couldn't find it, then went into settings-apps and notifications, dug through and made it default assist app. works great!
Does exactly what it says. IMPORTANT: Search for 'Device Assistance' in settings and there you simply replace 'Google' with 'Just Search'.
Amazing replacement for Google search! One wish is that it will also implement the search intent so when apps perform a search it can go through here.

Excellent. Only minor issue is that the search engines are not sorted alphabetically; it's triggering my OCD!
This app is perfect for when you wanna search something quickly while you're in the middle of something. Although I wish there was an option it could show the Google results without actually leaving the assistant menu and taking you into the Google app.
