jzintv4droid

This is the android port of the terrific multi-platform jzintv, the intellivision emulator created by Joe Zbiciak. All VALID roms are fully working, be sure to provide the correct cfg file of related rom if needed, otherwise you'll get a black screen!

- UpdateI cannot distribute roms and bios, so PLEASE stop emailing me about it, thank you. You can find anything you need on "Intellivision lives" cdrom, or...google is your best friend..

Emulator needs:
- Bios files (exec.bin, grom.bin and ecs.bin)
- Roms files

You can place them (in the same folder) anywhere in your device, then you can make jzintv4droid browse to that folder in order to load game.

If you own roms in int or bin format, for some games you need to manually provide also a file .cfg (called mapping file) with the same name of the rom, which 'completes' the rom itself, otherwise emulator cannot load game and you get black screen.

- UpdateFor cfg files you can easily find ALL you need here:

http://atariage.com/forums/topic/203179-config-files-to-use-with-various-intellivision-titles/

The first conversation of that thread contains two links, the first one points to a document that binds every game with its memory mapping category, the second one contains the cfg files for each category, and you simply have to download the template cfg files and rename it conveniently.

Version 1.0.2 contains:Load/Save features, implemented by Marco TurconiLayout code rewritten, with horizontal flip (implemented by Marco Turconi)Minor fixes

Enjoy!

Update 11-12-2013Some users have the problem of the display clipped in the highest zone. I'm trying to find a solution but I need someone who wants test changes in his device. Please mail me if you're interested in.

Works exactly as advertised. READ the instructions. Non original Mattel roms require a cfg file (follow the link in the description). Large displays have clipping which dev needed volunteers to help with in Dec 2013. Would be great if there was controller support but with so many no reading the instructions the dev had probably been demotivated. Great work dev, great port, a true donation to the community. TY

I left a review previously stating my displeasure with the app. I'm back to say that my impatience made me walk away from it. I recently read some really good posts on the old interwebs and got educated. It's easy but takes patience to look in the right places and also to understand your own device. Love the app. Keep it up. And thank you getting me back in touch with my gaming roots. Long live Intellivision!

This emu still needs a few things 1) .zip support, 2) customizable controls esp for xperia play, 3) landscape/horizontal mode with joypad on the left side, screen in the center and buttons on the right side. 4) Options to change more settings, delete roms, use Xperia play dpad and buttons etc like the 2600.emu has for example. However the added support for save states is cool and is a step in the right direction. I hope to see more updates in the future.

As a huge Intellivision fan (still have my original console), this is a really well implemented emulator that allows you to keep these groundbreaking titles alive forevermore. My only criticisms are that the control layout would be improved by allowing the user to customize it and that some games don't fit entirely on the screen area (eg Beamrider is clipped along the score) . Thank you devs! Great work.

I realize that you haven't updated this app in quite some time, but if you add an "immersive mode" option to the emulator, the screen clipping on the devices that suffer from this problem would be fixed :) EDIT: I installed the "GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode" app from here at the Google Play Store, and it works like a champ to prevent the screen clipping... having a BLAST playing all of the Intellivision games that I used to play on the REAL DEAL decades ago :)

Awesome emulator! Playing some of my favourites from way back when. Just a tip if the top of your display area is cut off: I'm using a nexus 7 (2012) and using an app called fullscreen (for root) hides the system bar and restores the missing display area.

I had a tablet with the clipping issue, but that's not a problem on my phone. It's great for games like AD&D: Treasure of Tarmin, because I can play a little bit at a time. My own indie titles run just fine as well. My only suggestion is to add box and manual scans, along with the overlay scans. Update: there is at least one problem with the ECS keyboard mappings. Now that I know how to open the keyboard within an ECS game (hold either the Back or All Windows button, depending on your device) I tried writing something for Mr. BASIC Meets Bits 'n' Bytes. Turns out the '+' key incorrectly echoes an '=' character. So for right now, I can't do addition. There are also no arrow keys on my phone's on-screen keyboard. I'll test the rest of the mappings and see if anything else needs to be fixed.

Emulation works well enough, but there are few if any setting for the emulator itself. Controller support would be a nice feature, as well as speed up, slow down, and save states. My bigged problem, however, is the vibration. IT NEEDS AN OPTION TO TURN VIBRATION OFF.

Needs nvidia shield support to play. And custom controller mapping for the shield. Its kind of hard to play as it is with the shield on vertical phone display only

I miss my old Intellivision... the old controllers were a bit fragile :-( This app is an excellent retro trip back in time.

The controls overlap the game instead of being under the picture. It also does not support the remote control and a mouse must be used to select the game. The ROMS do seem to run fine though in spite of the display issues.

I'm so pleased to see this because I'm a huge fan however I'm saddened by the fact that I can't open the menu from my ZTE Max2 phone so I'm unable to remove contain or turn overlays on. Please help me fix it so I can enjoy it even more.

Controlling any game that use a controller of any kind via a touch screen is awful games are un playable can't even play Astrosmash properly but the Emulation of how the games play is spot on perfect sound but there is a delay using Bluetooth and it's a bummer because the sound is so much better coming from a big amplified speaker then the crappy tiny speaker in most tablets. I don't get this audio delay when I watch movies or you tube on my tablet so it's not a problem with Bluetooth it's self. The Baseball Yer Out is perfect sounds just like someone Belching .just like on the real thing unlike the $40 Intelliviision Flash Back. For some reason I have to select options and bring up the keyboard and then tap the enter key in order to get the sound to work on all non Intellivoice games plus the ECS is not emulated properly the ECS calibration tool does not play the audio for the ECS channels Song Player Apps that use the ECS Sound don't play correctly . I have a Asus Transformer TF700t with custom JB ROM installed. Also I have the same display problem others have complained about. Add some kind of support for a USB or BT controller and fix the display and audio problems.

Very faithful, but I still struggle with the touch controls. Just seems to be unresponsive sometimes. The sound effects are also slightly delayed which can be disastrous in some games that rely on it.

This app does not need to use the phone vibration and the developer stupidly didn't include an option to turn it off.

Chr. K. Jan 27, 2015

Screen positioning needs to be fixed. Can not see the top of the screen while playing games. Also it would be great if there was an external game controller option.

I tried to load a rom but the app kept requiring me to get the intellivision bios, I did so but there is not way to tell the program where it is located. ##The bios files have to be in the same directory as the rom, gave it one star because it worked once then kept stopping.

Jus. W. Jan 11, 2017

Spent a long time today trying to get this to work.... still get a black screen, even with the correct .cfg file. Not sure why this has to be so complicated.

Jam. R. Jan 3, 2014

I agree with user below...awesome app, just needs some tweaking. On a 10" screen the control disc is massive. Too big for game use. I'd like the option to resize and move things around. Other than that, it works great.

Rau. N. Aug 19, 2015

I love it! I'd give it 5 stars except when I adjusted the sound at best it gives off a 4-5 second play delay, and I can't get it in sync with my games. How would you resolve this?

A. G. u. Dec 31, 2016

Works good on my Nexus 6P but no sound will play on my Samsung J3 phone. Not sure why that's happening.

Dar. G. Jul 14, 2015

Works great on my Galaxy S5 and Hisense Pro tablet. No game screen on Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Only has controls and sound. No Response from developer, so I guess I'm out of luck.

Ant. D. Jan 19, 2016

Could not find any of the Intellivision roms I downloaded. I just saw your write up in the description on how to get them to run, but it's just too much of a hassle for people, like myself, that aren't program savvy.

Ron. F. Jan 5, 2016

Wow. Thanks so much for this. Intellevision was one of my favorite consoles as a kid. I've tried only a few roms so far but they all worked perfectly.

Bla. B. Jan 18, 2015

This is a really good app. Only thing letting it down is that I can't switch to landscape mode on my s3.

Phi. C. Dec 31, 2014

Audio and video are perfect, game play is flawless. (Galaxy Note 1/Jelly Bean)

A. G. u. Feb 11, 2017

Excellent emulator, though it doesn't take screen shots of games, it is very helpful in figuring out what buttons or keys you have to press for specific games because of it's full on screen controller interface.
