I DO NOT like the new version I installed on July 26th 2021. It is harder to navigate. I liked it just the way it was. I need polling sooner than 15 minutes for 2 of my 4 accounts. I takes a LOT longer to do everything with the new version. If you ask me a step backwards. However, I understand the changes Google requires and some of the changes might be driven by that. I was so excited when I saw an update. I wish I had waited. Thank you to the developers of this app for their efforts. ******** I have increased my rating with the latest update to the app. It is easier to work with using 4 email accounts. I DO WISH they would enable a shorter email check interval. I have one email that I am often engaged in serious exchanges and having faster fetch would be a big help.
I changed to 4 stars now, in my view it is better. One thing missing in the general settings/notification. Is the possibility to add a general sound to all 'thicked' accounts, if you add accounts list with checkbox. All non checked ones, will either use default or sound selected for that particular account/s. Addition I still hear same default sound, even though I set some different for different accounts
Generally it's great, but no has this line reading 'find out whats new in this release' stuck on the bottom of the screen, with only an 'ok' option. That's NOT ok. I don't want to read things like that. Give a 'cancel' option, or at least stop it after the first 10 minutes. Fix this and I'll give 5 * [Edit : have turned that setting off as described. Partial fix. Please add it to the normal settings window in a near future release!]
The new interface looks nice, but I do miss the home view which shows all email accounts and which have new emails. If anyone else is annoyed by the "unified inbox", you can turn it off under settings->general->display->show unified inbox
Excellent replacement for stock telco/android email app that started to have problems sending emails. Light, fast, dark mode and options under the hood (synching options + more). Have been using updated app through beta program for about a year. It works well for my personal email needs. You can set it to use "push" so you get mail quickly or use "fetch" on a schedule. [GMail is good as r many others but I want an app for my personal stuff not accessable by corporations. Open Source!
This app gave me the best email experience so far. I seek simplicity and speed at the same time, and K-9 Email client is exactly what I need. Uninstalled the laggy and resource hungry MS Outlook email client. Thanks to the team who brought this cool app. My request to the dev team is, add new features if you wish but never compromise with simplicity and speed. We want the same feel in future builds as now.
Needs some improvements. Please bring back a default opening screen where you can browse through and refresh all of your email accounts. The star folder in each account was also a much faster way of searching/ sorting with star marked emails. Thanks this seems to have worked. I usually try to avoid this type of method b/c some developers *cough*Samsung*cough* shamelessly harvest personal info but the client is no longer asking for my permissions each time I re/open the app so I am happy.
The old layout before this 2022 update was marvelous. The new one hiding my email accounts behind a combo box makes my work hard and it is detrimental for the usability. Please restore the way it was and then deserves 5 stars!
I have been using K9 for almost 10 years and loved it. But now the recent updates have made it almost unusable. Fetching takes forever. I can login to webmail faster, so what's the point. Also search is abysmal. I don't know what field the search uses but it doesn't find words that are clearly there. Then when I search the server, it only returns the subject line, no content. I have to wait for content to come in, then all of a sudden all the items disappear and i have to search again.
Would be a great app if there would not be the bug with the account widget. If you use the power save mode, the widget for account stops to work after resuming from power save mode in the way it brings you to the default account inbox instead of the inbox of account, which was defined by the widget. This bug makes the account widget useless.
After an hours use it still will not sync anything no matter how many times I manually refresh, unified inbox -blank, outbox -blank, reinstall samsung email and everything is there. Double checking and rechecking the settings in case I missed something but it simple will not pull all my mail. Its a shame when it is samsung email I am trying to move away from.
Edit:Still happy with it! But I lost the notification on android 12.1... All the permissions are given... I have no idea what could be the issue... Very reliable mail client. I love the new ui! Maybe a compatibility with proton mail would make it perfect...
Right now it's riddled with bugs. - "fetch up to" function skips messages above the limit (not just downloads first kb of message). - "local folder size" properly limits amount of mails - but doesn't care about the DATE (you may get just very old messages - not the one received 5 minutes ago). - UI/UX is garbage compared to old version.
Tried to use this previously and it was far from user friendly. Thought I'd give it another chance, and well, nothing has changed. 6 emails, all different providers;2 smtp, 2 IMAP, 2 pop3. No e of them will connect and ive double checked all the settings, as well as having my it department. Done.
Can't even add an email account now. Server settings are not even working. After adding an email, only Outbox folder is shown. Useless application. This update has made it unusable.
I have used this program for 20 years and miss some of the old functions. Prefer touch functions to gesture which seems to be the trend. Load up 25 more in folder I miss and Clear Local Messages instead of delete. Please put back Clear Local Messages for local folders. thanks
It's not perfect but it has a good balance of features vs. accessibility. The UI is a good mix of a classic email client with a slightly more modern and simplified approach. In my opinion, the user interface has improved over the years. Also being open-source software is a plus and my privacy is respected.
The new UI is just terrible. There is a reason why I don't use Gmail or Outlook, but now K-9 has a similar UI experience... :-/
Been using it since 2011. Well thought out. I have had it on several Samsung phones, 2 LG phones and now a Pixel 6 Pro. Never had an issue.
Please bring back showing all accounts on the main page like the prior version had. 5 stars when you do. 052322 still no show all accounts on main page option.
Terrible new UI ð° Switching between multiple inboxes is a PITA âð¢ Sender in list of mails now in BOLD font âcannot change/cluttered design. Instead of date the weekday is shown for last 7 days âinconvenient. Problem of selecting â scrolls the list instead of starring â the mail still present (stars overlap scrollbar). Message view now wastes space (header). Was forced to update from 5.600 version due to K-9's POP3 AUTH bug (authentication stopped working with Ionos accounts 2022/01/24).ð€š
Great app, nice and fast interface. I don't understand why their are so any bad commentaries recently saying this is "abandonnedware". The app works great for me, no sync problem. The interface looks good enough for me, not outdated at all and it is very responsive. It lacks a few options like a delay before the email is actually sent, or automated support for calendar invites but it is acceptable.
