★ Kaiten's origin ★★★

Kaiten is based on the popular open source app K-9 Mail and was built by K-9's lead developers Jesse and Chris. By buying Kaiten you not only get an awesome email client, you also support the open source version because almost all of the new features are contributed to K-9 Mail.

The name is a play on K-9. Kaiten is a Japanese word that means rotation and sounds a lot like K10 or K-10.

It used to be excellent so I paid for the app in an effort to support the developer; however, as of a few updates ago it tries to load embedded links, etc in the mail client interface and they don't load correctly and they don't function. Went back to k-9 as it has the qualities I liked in Kaiten without the screwed up performance.

1.Every time I move a mail to a folder, the next time I want to move a mail, the previously selected folder is shifted one up, means I have to scroll one up again. 2. Support for colored html mails would be great (viewing them as priority). 3. Server search (IMAP) isn't very reliable / could be improved

I loved this email app, bought the pro version, and used it happily for a long time. Sadly, the dev seems to have moved on. It still works well on 4.X, but it has some idiosyncracies on lollipop that I couldn't live with, so I moved away from it to Aquamail, which is actually quite a bit better, and the free version includes most features your average person would use.

I bought this app because I read that this app is the one which is actively developed while K9 will eventually get updates later on. And because I wanted to support the developer with money. However, the last update is now long time ago. And while K9 already works with OpenKeyChain Kaiten does not. In fact, I don't see any reason why I should stay with Kaiten. K9 seems to be as powerful and there are also add ons.

I bought this app many years ago and it has served me well on several phones and across Android 4.x and 5.x. Unfortunately, now that I've upgraded to Android 6.x Kaiten has stopped working properly, crashing when I try to multiselect mails to delete.

Very similar to K-9 Mail but with easier menus and 1 touch buttons. There are a LOT more options than K-9 Mail and easier to use. I do recommend allowing us to be able to create new folders. I need a folder to save certain emails to in order to keep them separate from the rest in the inbox and a way to stop the mail send/receive process once started.

SG5. For those on Lollipop that are experiencing non functioning email Web links (ERR_CACHE_MISS) and having to flip the phone to get some emails to display, I can advise that installing the beta version of Android System Webview 44.0.2403.64 has solved those issues for me.

This app has several features I really enjoy, but it is terrible about syncing non Gmail accounts. The Gmail app actually syncs with outlook and Yahoo much more reliably than kaiten. I have missed clients' communication and lost income from this, I have had to apologize to family for not replying because kaiten didn't sync. DO NOT RELY ON KAITEN. To make it worse, the developer doesn't bother to reply to support requests; mine or forums full of people online. Deeply disappointing.

I've tested all Android email apps, including K-9 Mail. Kaiten has the best functionality, workflows and interface. In addition, the developer posts frequent updates. However, I deduct 1 star for it's lack of support for MS Exchange/Outlook. PJ Arts Smartphone Editor, Palm Addict blog

Kaiten works well for my needs. Lets me use a preferred from address other than my IMAP server, for example. -1 only for current problem: some messages show null content on first try. Skipping forward and back shows correct content.

Through the additional app "APG", Kaiten is supposed not just to let us sign outgoing, but also to verify the signatures on incoming emails. However, the lack of PGP/MIME support means that in this case, signing an email is always done with an ancient inline, pure-text method - which Kaiten interprets correctly as a PGP signature on incoming mail as well then. But it fails to recognize .ASC attachments and application/pgp-signature , as potential PGP signatures. And so in today's world we don't know whether incoming emails are even signed or not, which it needs to recognize, to be able to tell us whether the signature is valid. Only recognizes its own. Even so, an above-average app, for a user with above-average expectations.

Download free best myMail app.Why are you not following the new design concept of expandable menu like facebook, google plus, evernote, etc. Navigating between account is a hell. One has to go back twice to bypass the folder list and come forward. There are still too many clicks to change the account. No thought given for design for gestures. Its designed like a old tap interface. The chrome(navigation bars) take unnecessary space on the UI. There are too many columns on the list view.

It used to be great. I've depended on Kaiten for years and while it still works fine 85% of the time, the parts that are now broken with Lollipop devices are increasingly annoying. For instance, you can't click on a link in an email. When you do, you get the error net::ERR_CACHE_MIS Also, most of the time, an HTML email will not display until you tilt the phone and then tilt it back to its original position. Sure, Lollipop is still buggy, but these issues aren't appearing in other mail apps that are being actively maintained. This was once a great app. If you have a modern phone, it's sadly not useful any more. (GS6 Edge, Xperia Z Tablet)

I used this on a Samsung s2 3 and 4 and it was great. Smooth and fast. Now on an S5 it is slow, clunky and does not update to the imap consistently. Very frustrating. Settings are the same as the S4 which still runs the software great. ---- updating review - - - On the s5 it will not delete emails from the imap. Very frustrating having emails reappear over and over. Also duplicate emails are appearing. Moreover navigation with with star and unread messages does not work.

I paid for this app more than a year ago and since have made many attempts to start using it on my smartphone and tablet rather than the stock email android app. It has never worked properly. Although boxes are checked for immediate deletion from server, deleted emails still remain on my other device. Also in my Gmail account, read messages continue to show as unread on one device but show as read on other. I liked the K9 Mail on my smartphone and wanted to use Kaiten Mail on my tablet and smartphone but I finally give up and will continue using the stock android email app which is very simple to use and without bells and whistles BUT works seamlessly.

This was far superior to its K-9 cousin when purchased 3 years ago. But alas it has not been updated in a year and tech support messages go unanswered. The latest Android 5 has broken Kaiten and email text no longer displays unless you flip the phone to landscape and back again. So what to do? I exported my Kaiten settings, downloaded the latest K-9 app and imported the Kaiten settings. Voila! K-9 seems to have benefitted from all of the Kaiten updates and looks identical to me. AND IT WORKS + it's free.

The v2 UI originally had tiny, clustered selection buttons for list entries and less flexible notifications, but the Developer listened and responded with updates in early 2014. However, it has long-standing message rendering issues where some HTML emails cannot be read and it now crashes during multi-selection under Android 5.1. Unfortunately, bug reports have gone unanswered for the past year. I have now moved to the free K-9 app which is almost a 1-for-1 replacement of Kaiten, but with updates.

Includes almost all I expect from a mobile email IMAP client, except PGP/Mime. Handles multiple accounts without much problems and let you define most used folders for quick access and sorting. OK everyday use. However, it seems the devlopers have abandoned it, and problems are not fixed.

UPDATE: developer is not supporting this... Go with AguaMail Pro. BACK STORY: I bought it back when it was supported... I can still read some emails but when clicking on a check box to manage email... I got hard crashes on the phone and had to hold the power button to reboot. New OS has been out for some time now. This developer is slow to market with updates and/or fixes.

**Update 11/11/15** May have to find a new client, been happily using Kaiten/K-9 for years, but it seems like it's been abandoned, and multi-select crashes the app on my new phone (yes, running the latest and greatest from the play store) Love the new interface. It's not perfect, bit the fact that it actually matches and incorporates into jelly bean now is a huge step in the right direction.

A straightforward, functional, easy to set up, easy to use, flexible email app with customisable GUI. Well it's perfect for me !!! Yes, I used to think this was a great app and I used it for quite a while. However problems appeared after updating to Android 5.1.1. I contacted Kaiten but there is no response. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THIS IS NO LONGER A SUPPORTED PRODUCT. SO WHY IS IT STILL FOR SALE?

Ste. S. Jan 7, 2015

out of nowhere in late November. Wouldn't sync, wouldn't fetch messages on previously working accounts. Contacted support, got no response so was forced to use Gmail for a month. Out of nowhere is working again and I couldn't be happier. Changed nothing so don't know what the problem was. First major problem since purchasing the app. Extremely disappointed with lack of support. Would not purchase again based on this experience. Rating is for lack of support.

No S/MIME, no PGP/MIME (=no encrypted attachments + other drawbacks), no encrypted drafts, no always encrypt/sign lists for contacts, no automatic key fetching, no PGP trust handling, meta-refresh privacy bug and no improvements over ages It's nice that some apps with a pure closed source core have a better way to do it, while I won't trust them.

I'm a long time k9 mail user. For the longest time, I always though that k9 mail is a pay app. At least I recall when I gotten k9 it asks for donation. Perhaps that was it. Anyway, I have though about try other email app, but I say I better stick with what I'm already use to, which brings me to kaiten. V

This the best email app I've tried. The main reason I've tried it the first time (I've started with K9) was for ability have multiple identities, because I create unique aliases for each person I'm in contact with and loved it! There are only a few improvments would make it perfect: 1. easier access to creating new identity, 2. mark as read button for viewing message in split screen, 3. ability open a message in full screen from split screen. 4. respond to emails sent to support team.

Body of email doesn't show unless switch to a different orientation. Quite disappointed considering I paid for the app.
