Kala Brand Chromatic Tuner

Ok so I loved this app was great then heard that they were updating the app great. But IMO it's worse been waiting for months for new songs IV e-mailed the makers of app a few times now and not received any response as to when some new songs are being put on ( I know this can take a few weeks to sort) but am not happy ATM with this app and half the song's have gone. Respond and let me know when this is going to happen I will change rating

Only opens correcly half the time, which requires you to force close the app and open it again hoping it works. Other than that annoyance, it's actually a very good app.

The older version of the app was so much better-easier to use and intuitive. This makes it more tricky to learn in my opinion. It's not clear what notes you are supposed to play when. I miss being able to have the landscape view for playing and the immediate feedback on the song. Some of the songs are out of sync with the lyrics or just not the same chords they were in last year. (see Santa baby). Will not renew my subscription if it's not improved. This app leaves me sad and frustrated.

Seem to be the easiest tried a few to help me tune my new ukulele.... I'm a complete beginner, owned my uke for 6 hours never tuned anything before. So once I googled which way to turn to make it higher or lower I was away 😂😂 a few ads but for free app that works well I don't mind that

Did I pay something? Some trial subscription is attached to my card but I can't manage it using the app to cancel the subscription... I managed to cancel the subscription by Googling how to remove subscriptions from Google Pay Account -_-

Have used kala ukulele for few years now and have loads of songs saved so didnt want to get rid of it but past year n half hardly any new songs and says my samsung tablet is no longer compatible, been payin 4.99 every month for past 3 or 4 years. So now gonna lose all my song list after paying all that time, looked at other musopia apps but thought if i change to them i lose songs ive saved on kala. And had enjoyed playing along but now every app just about charges it costs too much

Bugs appear to be fixed. This app is great, I use it constantly. I do wish we could still move up or down steps. I look forward to seeing more features and improvements in future updates

I recently decided to play my ukulele again and opened the tuner app. Whenever I tried to tune my A string, it thought I was playing a low C, so I kept trying to tune if up to an A until my string broke. Not sure if this is a bug or caused because of the vibration of the other strings. Now, im forced to have to buy new strings and wait to play again.

Tuner is great. Would be nice if DGBE for baritone was also included in this app Edit 2021: The concern I have now is tuning my D string. It says it's too high but I check it against Yousician and Ukulele tuner app and it says it's tuned so I am wondering if there's a bug?

Seems to be a very good app, but only for learning basic chords. Good graphics, nice color-coding system, and lots of songs. Some of the songs are free, most require a monthly subscription, and all of them are 'ukulele karaoke' - chords, lyrics, and a moving line to keep tempo. The app will not show the melody music or teach you how to play anything but chords. Disappointed. But nice as far as it goes.

I really only use this app for its tuner. It does have a great selection of music to learn however it doesn't teach them very well. More specifically when you play the song and try to keep a rhythm going it just doesn't work. The strumming patterns it shows with the chords it shows don't work well together when playing the song through the app.

Love this app! It has popular songs so you get excited about learning and you can easily learn a few songs in an hour. I just recently picked up a ukelele and my family is surprised by how quickly Ive learned. The app has a tuner and new songs every so often. Highly recommend to first time players! Takes the frustration out if learning and makes it fun. At the end of every song the app even tells you which cords you need to work on and gives recommendations. Two thumbs up!!

I downloaded this app a few months back to learn some basics, but ended up ignoring most of the songs. Then I took my ukulele camping with me and actually sat down to look through the list of songs available, and I was blown away. I ended up playing for a number of impromptu sing-alongs. In particular, there was one individual pretty deep on the spectrum, who I've had trouble connecting with, but I learned during this trip that he loves to sing! Thank you so much! 😊🎶

I love this app. I like the auto scrolling when playing songs, option to speed up/slow down song tempo. I like the summary of each practice session/where I can improve. Not seeing my progress data in the progress section of the app though. The song selection is large. I would like a better way to navigate the songs, in addition to genre, maybe by # of chords, name of chords. Would ABSOLUTELY APPRECIATE baritone tablature!

Loving this app. I got a Uke given to me on the 4th of July and I'm already close to playing my first whole song a bit over a week later! (Jason Mraz "I'm Yours") I've never played an instrument before! I've always just been a singer. This is amazing, the short videos are perfect for giving you the chords and strum patterns, the songs can be searched by the chords you know, or you can select and refresh yourself on the chords within each song. The settings make it even easier. 10/10 recommended!

Free songs should be free and not say "get full access" in a box. This app doesn't work well with a kala baritone since you can't change the key to DGBE. Transpose is spotty in what you can shift up or down. If you press down on the wrong part of the screen to change tempo the song will play instead of changing tempo. The advice it gives or doesn't isn't always helpful or even appear. I can butcher a note to high heaven and somehow the app will think its good. Needs more work.

First time player. This app offers different modes of tuning that helped me make sense of it. The song learning is kinda like a guitar hero experience game that you can change the tempo for better success while lerning how to transition chords. It gives feedback on what you are doing well and what you need to work on. This is my last day of free trial, so I guess I will see how much I like the free version. I love it as it is right now. Update: I paid for the full version. No regrets.

Kala is a great app to learn ukulele! I started three days ago, and I can already play most chords, curtesy of the really helpful assistance videos. I can find most of my favorite songs, and the app makes learning fun and easy. The way you learn is like Guitar Hero, except with a real instrament. You play the song, with the notes coming on the screen along with the words, kind of like karaoke. At the end, if you want a review, it will give you tips along with how well you did with each chord. :)

Please help!!! I've paid for the full version and the whole app is great, but I can't get the progress data working!! It's not showing anything and I'm not getting any feedback. How to fix this? I really want it to work as I paid for the subscription. Otherwise a great app, clear design and makes everything easy to learn. Would give 5/5 if it would work a 100%.

I say this with love, because I LOVE my new ukelele, the app is awful. Is soooooo slow that my screen times out before it even manages to load. There are so many pop-ups asking me to buy various services that only slow it down further. All I wanted was to use the tuner but it's buried under a bunch of nonsense. And then the tuner itself, honestly isn't even that good. I just ended up getting a physical tuner and deleting the app because the experience was so awful.

Lots of fun! Makes it easy to learn songs once you get a feel for it. Might need to be combined with youtube tutorials for some songs, especially ones with finger picking or where the strum pattern changes. That doesn't detract from it though, for $5 a month it's as fun as any video game!

After trying to learn guitar with books 5-10 years ago, it's amazing to see how helpful technology is in making hige catalogs of songs accessible. Having the strum patterns to follow in rwal time is super helpful, being able to see the finger placement in videos makes sure you are positioning correctly based on tabs, being able to slow down the bpm on a song while you are learning it is a huge help. Awesome app! Paid for the full year and really happy with access to all that for so many songs

I love this app. It's really helpful for a beginner like me because it makes it fun to practice and learn chords. I'm using it constantly. The only thing I would change is I wish I had an option to turn off the color coding for the chords. While it's helpful at first, my brain is starting to associate chords with colors rather than the chord names themselves, which isn't helpful in the long run.

Great app! I recently purchased a ukulele after it being on my bucket list for so long and all I have now is free time. This app is great for newbie but I struggled with one of the cords which a quick YouTube clip helped out. I really REALLY love the speed control of the song, its excellent for learners to just play at their own pace and how there's a guide on the side of the screen. HONESTLY worth the subscription especially when you know they add new songs daily.

Good for those who already have basic knowledge of chords and want to practice with current songs. Each song has tabs of what chords and strum pattern to use in the respective song. You play along with the app almost karaoke style and mic picks up if you're playing the correct chord then you get a score, highest being 1000. You also get a rating of which chords you need to work on. Great list of songs of different genres that are always updating. Only suggestion is to have a more detailed tuner.

This app has potential, but could be much better. First, I shouldn't only be able to play 1% of the songs in the app. Second, I'm playing the notes correctly, and the app says I'm not, even though I'm playing them how the app wants me to. Lastly, the tuner doesn't work correctly. I selected C and the tuner said that C needs to be almost as loose as physically possible to play correctly, then when I'm playing, says that C is out of tune. Please fix these problems and it will be a 4-5 star app.

This app turned on the free trial after we chose NOT to use it & is now charging me $8.71/month and won't let me turn it off. Complete scam.
