I think this app is great for learning kana, it has both katakana, and hirigana which is a plus. There is one problem though, the match maker game is broken. If you pick two squares, the first one you picked unflips itself, the only way to win is to pick the first square you picked again, even if it's wrong. Overall I think the app works great, despite that one small problem.

Two stars because the flash cards work great. I can't for the life of me get the quiz to work-- it will load the first kana, I answer by typing, then it just disappears. It will show question 2/46 but no kana shows on the screen. Am I just dumb and can't figure it out or...? Also the matching game crashes every time. But it looks like that has been covered already.

Live the app. I wish the flashcard custom selection would let me choose katakana and hiragana together so I could choose, say, the ka row from each. Also, it would be nice to, say, go through those ten characters or whatever, and keep going again with the flashcards without having to set it all up again, maybe with just a push of a shuffle button or something. That sure would help new learners.

Still the best app I've found for learning Hiragana and Katakana. I love that there's multiple ways to study (games, flashcards, quizzes) and you can pick how many sets you want to study at a time. I'm sad to see that it's no longer on the store. Would love if you added ability to study with different fonts, repeat problem characters, and to study Hiragana and Katakana at the same time mixed together(like Real Kana for web and ios). If those features were added it would be completely perfect.

Nice app to use to prompt one's memory with the basics however I believe the "Voiced" function in Flash Cards isn't working as intended maybe as there is no sound coming out when the volume is turned on... I think it'd be great if there was a function that you can hear someone saying each of the characters - thanks overall :)

This app is perfect to learn all the kanas..... but.... please add a pronunciation feature in the reference list atleast, it'll be very helpful to the new learners. Everything is perfect apart from that, but I dont want to go to another app just for listening to the pronunciation, it causes too much hassle. please do it and I'll rate it 5⭐

This is probably the best & fastest way to learn japanese gana & kana. This app is really simple, and in my experience I was able to learn and memorize all hiragana in just 3 days. And that's me being lazy, this is good. Just spend 30-40 minutes each day, and you'll see massive improvement. I think this app deserves 5 star, but sadly, I personally have experienced crashes when opening the in-app game. But it's still very useful. Highly recommended for anyone learning.

Helps me a lot to train in memorizing Hiragana Katakana by taking the test which we can customize and it also has statistic which letter we got it correct/mistook the most so it's good if you want to be to know and focused to study on parts you lack the most. But I find it a little uncomfortable to take the Match Maker games because the cards turns too slowly. Overall this apps is helpful.

Love the app, very helpful with the variety of ways to learn and practice. Exactly what I needed. My only feedback is to agree with other posters about making the flashcards cycle back to the beginning when you get to the end (and reshuffle the order).

I love the app. It made me learn the Kana in 2 days which I couldn't learn in 2 years haha. It's amazing, but the Match maker game crashes every time I click the third card. Please fix that bug. Then, I'll give a 5-star rating to this app. 💓

This could have used more attention in the planning phase. The matchmaker game is buggy (the game keeps crashing when you click on a tile that doesn’t flip back). The first game isn’t creative... It’s just needle in a haystack... And since there aren’t penalties for guessing, the best strategy is to click all of them every time.

Simple interface, contains flashcards, memory games and quizes, basically all you could ever need to learn and test your ability to read hiragana and katakana. No annoying adds and everything works correctly, so I really recommend it. No writing practice though.

The flash cards are an excellent tool. The quiz is great for charting your progress. You have to come up with memory hints. Could use a review of characters most missed. Matchmaker game has issues but not a big deal.

Could be 5 stars but I have a huge issues with the match maker mini game. It's unplayable. Some cards stay visible throughout the game. And some card just disappear on their own when the pair is not even correct... It's a real mess.

The match making game crashes for me too. I am using pixel with Android v11. But besides that, everything else works fine and is quite useful. I was planing to fill out a flash card app to do this, so this saves me some time.

-one thing i wish for this app to be able to do is changing the fonts. because when i'm reading thing outside the app , i found out that it sometimes kind of hard to recognize the characters. This app make memorizing kana easier. i remembered hiragana in just 1 week and can read them fine but slowly, although this app help me remember and read kana fine but when it come to writing ... well , that is another case , lol

This app is really helpful for someone who just start or forgot how to read hiragana and katakana again. The flashcard is randomized everytime it's clicked it and it's so helpful to make me memorize the alphabet. We can even choose which alphabet we want to include in the card so we can learn with our own pace.

Let's be frank here, the app is incomplete. It lacks an audible version of the characters for you to get used to their sound and the memory game is completely broken. There are simply too many apps that are better than this one.

There's a bug with the match maker game where it crashes out of the app when I try it. Not sure if the developer is still updating but I do appreciate the work he's put into it.

Love this app, but it glitches during the matchmaker game. When you flip two--it automatically flips another then shuts down. Also, I would rec having a back to menu button.

I would really love to give it 5 stars although i'm not always rating app; however there is a bug which make the app stop working whenever i flip the third card in the game "match maker". Overall this is really good for learning kana and I recommend it. Please fix the bug so I can change my rating to 5 stars. I'm using Samsung J7

Clean and simple UI with no ads, along with tests and quizzes to facilitate better learning, all for free. This is the definitive app for learning and practicing Hiragana and Katakana.

Been studying for a year now, for those beginning 3 or 4 months this app helped a lot with the hiragana and katakana identifying that lets me now read basic stuff. Help a lot to make me feel I had progressed specially because it was a complement to the videos and sites I used to learn.
