Well, you get what you pay for. The app is not useful at all and it honestly comes with a few directions basically to set it up. When you use the help feature on the app, every common question you pick leads to a page that won't load so please don't expect an easy answer. Although it says that you can pause it while you're running in and out it will not pause and I still haven't found where you even do it besides taking out the batteries. Save yourself the headache and spend a few extra dollars.
I didn't expect much because of the price, but it STILL managed to disappoint. All I wanted was a way to see who's at my door. Instead, I get notifications for every car, cloud, and leaf ... but it certainly doesn't detect any actual people on my porch. The false negatives are actively DECREASING my safety. I have excellent WiFi and a very close router; that's not the issue. The app itself is terrible -- I can't review more than a handful of the (useless) notifications without it crashing.
Southern facing exposure was too bright for doorbell cam. The picture was washed out. New camera comes with filter film. Picture is great now. The alarm itself works great and is very easy to install and set up. Motion detection needs improvement, goes off with nothing on camera, maybe trees or flowers moving in the wind. New outdoor cam randomly shuts off. The other obe works great.
Ok the good: price without a doubt! The bad: images are too fast and too short hard to make out who or what cat (lol) triggered the image. Also, you need to lower the time limit once you initiate system activation. 3 plus minutes to activate is just too long. Who wants to wait around for 3 minutes before leaving house and if you do leave house it's unsecure for 3 minutes. Overall not that impressed. Will be returning to store for a refund.
Hardware VERY slow 90% of the time will miss the event and capture a photo with nothing in it.. In my case you can traverse the length of a 5m corridor drop a parcel and leave. Leaving nothing but a photo of an empty space . App quite spotty too and will rarely send the event even though a photo is saved... Concept is excellent just needs equipment that responds much faster. Will wait for an upgraded version. I am returning this one.. :(
I have 4 indoor/outdoor cameras with the Kangaroo:Simple Home Security app & they're excellent. Just a great way to keep an eye on things day or night. Only issues is the occasional live connection glitch which may be my wifi anyway. It's such a relief not having to physically be there to see everything clearly. The simplicity is nice so I would recommend to anyone like my not so tech savvy relatives. I can sleep more peacefully now. The Kangaroo app is seriously underated. Thank y'all.
CON: Never detects package delivery. Has no perspective view so will not photograph person walking directly toward it as their size increases upon approach to doorway. Camera only sees people who walk SIDEWAYS! PRO: Often detects and notifies me BEFORE Blink camera's 12 sec "blink" wakes up! Notifies me of various deliveries in real time and runs on 3 conventional AA batteries including rechargeable!
Cheap product, cheap quality, cheap POS. If you want the images from more than 24 hours ago you need to buy their premium. Half the time the images won't load and just stays as a black image saying preparing photo. Save your money and buy a better system.
After a few months the Doorbell Camera started to glitch and wouldn't upload photos to my device, customer service did offer a replacement but it has been a week in processing and they never reply to emails or voice-mails, good luck getting a representative to answer the phone! Product is ok but definitely not standing by with good customer support or warranty services! Not Happy! I would recommend spending the $25+ on a better brand!
I have had services since 2020. Services we're good & worked. I had an issue in 2021 where they billed me 2 months in advance. They did rectified that. This year when contacted kangaroo about issue with the service arming itself too soon & time was off. There is no option to change the time or what a time zone u r in. I contact support several times. Only me contact when my payment was due. I emailed them again explaining the issue with screenshot. No reply. Just want money. Cancel my services.
What a waste of money for the camera and the app. The only alert I have ever received is while I was still setting up the camera and about 2 inches in front of it. Any other time I have NEVER received an alert except for 1 time the cat set it off. But I have had trucks drive in, I have had wife walk around, I have walked around and NEVER received any alerts from any of these events yet. I have tried resetting camera, resetting app, connecting to different wifi, connecting to differnet internet provider as a test. Let me do anyone reading this a favor - save your money for something better. If this company gets 5 stars for anything I dont know what it would be for - but it isn't the Indoor Outdoor Camera or the app.
everytime I've bought cameras I never had to pay for every little thing. they always came with 1/2 screen and can go to full screen, but not with kangaroo. not only do you buy their merchandise but then ya have to pay for any little thing on it.. very very disappointed, will never recommend these cameras to anyone.8
First off you have to paY to even get the full use of the camera. No zoom hardly In real time, drops, won't sync half the time barely catches my wifi. No bak and forth microphone night vision is either to bright or too dim and it uses about 3"/2" screen for my phone. Sux. Don't do it...!
Terrible from the app to the customer service to the actual device itself why would you put a SD card on a camera that can only be used with Wi-Fi there is no other way to use the camera at all you can't set it up with Wi-Fi and then use the SD card to record incidents when you click on help in the app none of the pages are available and customer service never answers the phone
I was a bit hesitant with how cheap this all was, but I have experienced nothing but amazing customer service and a good video camrea! It's not like a thousand dollar set up, but it's a huge upgrade from the previous camrea I had, which was way more expensive. It's also very simple and easy to use. I have been able to show multiple people how to use it with various levels of technological knowledge without issue. Will certainly be investing in a few more in the future. Great buy.
Don't waste money on this! Not even 7 months and the doorbell camera doesn't work. I spent hours on the phone with a rep troubleshooting who was supposed to send a replacement and it never came. We have had to replace two different sensors because they just stopped working or wouldn't connect. None of these products are reliable. I rarely get any notifications. Doorbell no longer captures or rings. Waste!
Constantly disconnects. I've been putting new batteries in every 2 to 3 days, it will connect, do a video and doorbell rings then Nothing again! I'm using brand new premium batteries so that's not the problem. I've only had the doorbell camera a short time. It shouldn't have all these issues. Won't be buying anymore items from them.
There need's to be a zoom option! I would assume any decent app for a security camera would for sure have a magnification feature of some kind. Honestly, this app doesn't have any decent features for the most part...
App works without issue and so does the camera. I get notifications almost instantly. NOTE the $25 camera is a camera not a video camera. Therefore takes a series of pictures when someone comes to the door. Too many complainers here that dont know how to work something so simple and expect high end features for $25. Very good for the price.
For an 80 dollar camera the picture isnt great. I can't never watch the live feed it just freezes. Majority of the motion videos won't play. I paid way to much for this camera for it to be as horrible as it is. I have to close and reopen the app like 15 times just to try to watch live feed then it's either lagging or just froze up.
Would have given it 5 stars before the winter hit, but the batteries would die after a day or to exposure to cold temps. Its now warm so I changed batteries. Chime and motion detection work but not camera!
The app is user friendly & responds well to the camera. It promptly sends alerts when activity is picked up,stores 30 days of video to the cloud, & it's easy to delete those that you don't need. Setup is a breeze-the chime plugs into any outlet & you choose the functions & sensitivity you want. I bought the doorbell cam with the chime when they 1st hit the market over a year ago & have never been disappointed. Compared to the higher priced security systems, I give it an A+ rating.
Overall I like the products and the app but one feature that is missing is to be able to schedule a time to DISARM the security alarm. You can set a time at night to set the alarm but it'd be also nice to automatically disable the alarm by schedule instead of having to do it manually every time.
Bad security system, just get something a little more expensive. For $50 more you could get something that actually works. The pictures from the doorbell never load, the tone barely plays when it's rung, and the camera captures cars driving by even on the lowest setting. I'm disappointed with the product. So, go spend that extra cash and return this thing. You'll be happy you did.
