Kanji

Quick, easy way to learn Kanji. Tried this app because I was very impressed with their app for Kana (got me good with Kana in like a week or two). The information is given in easily absorbable bits, the flashcard-style quizzes are easy to repeat and very quick paced, so you can quickly absorb new material. Not sure how many Kanji it will teach me, but I'm sure it will at least get me through JLPT N5 within the first few chapters.

Extremely choppy scrolling during readings due to the app being outdated. I wish they'd somehow update it to operate cleanly on modern devices. The content is however very helpful, with quizzes and flashcards to come back to.

The app May be cool and well done, but it hasn't been updated in 8 years and it doesn't work properly on the latest Android OS.

This app just does everything you really want it to, and it does that offline. It sits on my phone untouched until that moment when I have no internet, then with absolutely nothing better to spend time with it's my bff.

Wow! This is the hardest step in learning Japanese. Very challenging. There are various meanings. In both the On-yomi and kun-yomi. Lots of memorizations. 水 (mizu) water 女性 (onanoko) woman 男 (otoko) man 手 (hand) 地球 (earth) 食品 (food) 2,000 plus KANJI in order to fully understand Japanese language. With the help of hiragana and katakana, and it's reverse grammar. Im choosing Japanese (日本語) over Korean (한국어) Because of Tokusatsu, video games, JAV, anime and music. Of course their exotic foods.

Runs kinda goofy on Pie. Works fine, just kinda sluggish. The CONTENT of the app far outweighs that complaint though. Don't regret the purchase. Definitely worth it.

Like the whole platform and the whole Japanese demon integration. I would like to know why the developer of the app decided to name it Tengu. I find it interesting.

Choppy, but it does the job

Each stage builds on the one before, and reinforces skills. It would be nice to have to option of romanji, but it's good kana practice, so I suppose I'll just have to knuckle down to mastering kana first. One problem - some of the review text is too small for me to read. Please support zooming in the next upgrade.

Design is terrible, scrolling is laggy. I find it annoying that I know hiragana 100% all the time (for kunyomi readings). Now I must either trust my gut feeling when unsure or have a dictionary at hand. Neither is pleasant. Otherwise, it's a useful app before Duolingo releases Japanese, lol.

There are a few obvious mistakes, e.g. 最後 does not read さいしょう, and most of the subgroups 9 in the JLPT quizzes don't work. Looks like a bug. There are also a lot of cases where the meaning of the kanji isn't the same as that of the kun yomi word, so it would have been nice to have a test based on it too.

This application is great for people learning kanji for the first time that are fluent in kana, or for those wanting to extend their vocabulary/review it. My only problem is that there is a bit of a bug when you scroll down, if you let go when scrolling through the words for kanji it often goes to the next page/kanji. However already in a day I've learnt all the basic kanji. - from a GCSE Japanese student who received an A in speaking

Used Kana on my Nexus 7 and it was fantastic, so I decided to buy Kanji to use on my brand new NVIDIA Shield (2015). But neither app finishes initializing. Whenever I start up either of them, the "Initializing application..." prompt comes up, disappears and then sends me to a blank page. I would love to get these working on my new tablet.

Unlike some kanji apps this one provides indepth explanations and tips in narrative form, in addition to all the other bells and whistles like kanji animation, radicals, quizs and vocab. It builds on your knowledge smoothly. The radicals explanation Is particularly helpful. I would rate it one of the best for learners and refreshing. Thank you!

This app is, without a doubt, the best thing to have for beginners and veterans of the Japanese writing system. I've studied the language for almost 5 yrs now with very little exposure to the kanji...I maybe know 3-4 hundred. This makes a great review tool and an even better study guide. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!

So the first few sections were great and really helpful for some aspects of the messed up language that is japanese based on taking the chinese language and completely changing it to adapt to their own needs. But For some reason I expected much more content than what is here. After you read the first few articles, it just boils down to practice, and definitions. I know that this is crucial to learning the kanji and meanings, but I expected more from this app than that as the first few insights were excellent, but as far as quizzing and studies, there are much better apps available

Thank you for creating an app I will always be able to come back to when I want to explore some new Kanji. The design is a little old fashioned but it's still no problem to learn with. I like it a lot and would recommend it to anyone who's progressed past katakana and wants to read more Japanese. Currently though there is a bug in the quiz JLPT 3 Group 1 Sub Group 9 that causes the app to freeze on a white screen. Not a big problem but is worth a fix I think!

Admittedly they requested I rate this too early tp be able to give it 5 stara but the lessons are well develloped and overall it's a great way dor bigginers to learn kanji from what I have sewn thusfar.

I used TenguGo Kana a while back and it worked tremendously well, but with this app, it gives me an "initializing application" screen, then popping up a blank white screen and staying this way. The screen is unresponsive when clicked, and does not show any loading bars, just a white screen. I have reinstalled twice. Rating may improve if the app becomes useable.

I have been struggling to find a good app to learn kanji and here it is :Tengugo Kanji! Tengugo Kanji is better than any apps I have downloaded which actually has a pretty high rating. This app explains every thing in detail. For example, about the kun-yomi and on-yomi. I like how they have tests, that you can redo again and again to test your ability. And that's not all! This app is the perfect one if you want to learn kanji, I totally recommend it. :)

I was looking for a dictionary to supplement the kanji the Genki Japanese text and this is probably one of the easiest ones to use. I use this app all the time to learn new vocab that genki doesn't have when studying the kanji portion of the text. 5/5

A few small mistakes here and there. On the whole a really helpful approach to learning Kanji.

This app is amazing! I'm planning a trip to Japan and already have a basic knowledge of Japanese, but only know 50 or so Kanji. It starts out by explaining what kanji are, and that you'll be guided through the meanings, pronunciation, and history behind 2000+ kanji within the app. It has very detailed recommendations and splits everything up nicely into different levels of lessons and quizzes, so you'll never be overwhelmed unless you choose to 5 cherry blossom trees out of 5! Definitely worth the price.
