Kanji Memory

Learn Japanese Kanji the playful way
Memory (or Concentration) is a card game in which the goal is to uncover matching card pairs. At the beginning all cards are laid face down. Each player can flip two cards face up by touching them. If the two cards match, the player continues and flips two other cards. Otherwise it is the turn of the second player to uncover two cards. The player who uncovered the most matching pairs of cards wins the game.

Kanji memory is a variation in which two cards match when the Kanji and the picture match. For example, the picture of fire matches the Kanji 火 (hi). By playing Kanji memory you can improve your memory, learn Japanese Kanji and have fun at the same time.

This is the best Chinese app I think I've found in 7 years of searching. Through fun game play, enough repetition mixed with just enough new vocabulary, we learn Chinese words and kanji recognition and develop linguistic Chinese mind. Them not bridging us from English to Chinese it what makes it so effective for me. It is 100% learning in Chinese through everyday objects we recognize and through fun drill and skill and plenty or customizable options, we come to master very frequent words.

I don't think we ever outgrow memory games, and this one helped me to learn a few Kanji terms when I was beginning to learn Japanese. It's fun and is set up well. I like being able to select the design and the number of cards too :) -- Well done! Thanks!!!

If you enjoy "match" or "concentration" games, and are learning Kanji or just want a total change from your usual identifiable cards, try this out! It's helpful that you can turn sound on so the voice will pronounce the Kanji. Also you can choose a) the design of the cards; and b) how many card matches you want in your game. There are several of each offered, plus more oprional choices. Enjoy!

The info on cards in 2 pair mode should be on all cards, at least up to 10 pair mode.

I think it make learning kanji funny although it is simple

Interesting but I don't have the patience to play it

It's too simple to use. It doesn't let me review the cards and learn whats on them, and for the sake of letting the user learn, the challenge of the game is sacrificed. On the other hand, there no 'continue' button or 'play again' 'next level' after one round, so the gameplay is not smooth and instead feels like stuttering.

It's really simple and that can be a double edged sword. It's great for helping you review kanji you already know but for those who want to use this is learn new kanji, it's a bit harder to do that. All in all, I recommend giving it a shot to see if you like it or not. It was a nice idea of a game!

This thing has you playing against a computer which means you really don't get any good time with the kanji. Uninstalled.

Perhaps adding a review list of each kanji after each game would be extremely beneficial. Apart from that, a good way to enjoy learning kanji.

The computer gets it in one go. There is no need to play against it. So you can just play single player. Decent for learning kanji

Solved games dissappear too fast. It should stay on the screen until the user wants to erase them.

I like this game. However I think when it is the end of the game and all the cards are shown, that should be there for longer since you're supposed to be learning the Kanji. I felt that it goes away far too quickly.

When I have finished matching the cards, please let me look at them instead of erasing right away. Let me touch cards to repeat the voice, and make a "continue" button for when I am done studying the om and kun. Thank you.

Really the best idea, I like memory games, and was thinking of making a paper version just few days ago but now found the app 😁 would be the best tool for learning kanji to a beginner if you would also have the option of having the same picture on the cards~~

This game is fairly simple and can be enjoyed leisurely. I found it a good refresher for my learning, but some of the pictures were confusing to figure out. Overall, I would recommend this app to intermediate learners.

Overall ok, since it offers enjoyable way to learn. 'Finished' screen is boring though.

Dru. K. Jul 14, 2017

Surprisingly addictive! I do wish the hirigana was displayed rather than just a voice. I use this on the bus so I can't hear and have to guess at how the card is pronounced.

It would be nice if you could choose a list of kanji to practice, or if you could look at the finished board after completing it before it flashes away. UI is a little rough as well.

Great game but when I have a board of 10 or more cards it doesn't show any written information about the kanji .also when the game ends it needs to start a new one directly but here it stops till i go back to main page to lunch a new game

This app works but it's not as pretty as it could be.

Great simple app. No special permissions is a plus. Does make refreshing kanji enjoyable

Yan. Y. Jun 8, 2015

Fun game, but it all happens so quick I can't even see the Kanji. Isn't that the point of the game? Love the music at the end though, totally cool.
