I would rate it 5 stars but the recent update is trash. It's still a solid app, but a few problems is the long wait time when coming across audio pack words. It's misplaced in my opinion, it shouldn't be placed in the middle of a learning session but instead it should have been moved to the main menu or even upon opening the app. The 30 second wait could deter people from wanting to learn. Also the addition to the kanji writing system. I understand its helpful to learn how to write kanji but some people use it for vocabulary srs learning. There isn't a way to custom tailor it to remove those reviews from the review chart. So now i have over 200 reviews from kanji writing even though the option is disabled in my settings. The only way to clear it, is to enable it and go through the long process of manually drawing kanji. The pacing is also different now as well, immediately after you learn a word another shows up and it never was that quick before the update.
I love this app but I beg the dev to stop asking me to buy the audio pack after every single word. This effectively makes the app unusable. Edit: Wait 30s (still a little annoying that you can't just close out) and the message no longer appears after each subsequent word. Overall still a wonderful tool I have used for quite some time.
This app is good for learning vocab but there really needs to be an option to limit the number of new words to learn. I have over a hundred due reviews but instead of letting me do reviews, it keeps forcing me to learn many new words each day when I haven't even memorised the previously shown new words. This is very frustrating and I hope it can be fixed.
Great app, a few bugs where it would stuff up and would love better explanations on how the app works, why words go to master so quick and knowing how it works. Its great, though and i love that it keeps going as it helps me learn and move forward with words instead of getting stuck on older ones. I also love that you can reschedule to a better review time and i find myself learning lots. Would love to be able to add my own notes for each word but thanks! Sound packs are cheap as well.
I'll edit this review once they fix my problem: Very few audio terms included in the free edition. It's not clear what you are supposed to purchase to continue. I bought what I thought was the first audio pack, and the audio was not unlocked, rather I'm still prompted to buy packs.
This app is amazing for studying Japanese!! It really keeps it varied between reading/writing/listening so you get good practice in all of those and don't get bored doing the same old thing. I really like how you can dismiss a word if you already know it well! I have had no problems with it crashing.
I really really need a way to jump to the word I was reviewing before in the vocabulary list. I only want a quick review , not having to go through the quizzes. Isn't it possible that when I search the word, the app jumps to that specific word in the list rather than show me only that word? Please! (from a paid user)
It jumps between exercises before you hit next, it's hard to follow as the audio isn't synced with the exercises and after 10 words or so you'll start getting non-stop ads for in-app purchases which you can't learn without - so it's not really a free app. Cute logo, but really nothing else.
I would love to give this a higher rating. Unfortunately, the in-app purchases are a mess. No description of what you actually purchase (n1, n5, etc. That's all they say). I really don't mind purchasing packs to learn more, as the quality of the app is great, but I need to understand what I purchase, and which step is the next. Now I have a new Kanji to learn, no audio support, and I don't know which pack to get for that Kanji. Please make it easier to know what people are purchasing.
I'm a long time user of this app but I suddenly got a serious problem with how to add new words to my list. I reached out to the devs and they quickly fixed my problem with an update and now everything is back to normal. I love this app and it's an excellent study companion with my S Pen (Samsung Note 8)
Great concept, but to get any kind od decent knowledge base you need to pay for individual vocab lists. I wasn't expecting everything to be free, I'd be willing to pay something for decent material, but I'm not paying $3-4 per vocab list.
Excellent reliable and intuitive app with sample sentences. Very effectively manages revision frequency. Some issues with audio samples and screen display that developer isn't open to remedying.
It's a must have if you're learning Japanese, worth paying a few bucks to have good audio and kanji writing practice. Plus the difficulty of the writing practice changes as you go. So if it had 先生 for the first time it would show the english and the kanji as an outline and you trace it. Then after a few times of having that word come it will draw it but won't stay up to trace so you have to write it. Then after a few more it will just tell you the english word teacher and you write the kanji
Over a span of 2 years I've used dozens of apps, online and in person instruction, books (some with apps, some with YouTube and some with both). This is always my go to app for study.
Problem with Google Drive Back up & Restore function. I have just moved to a new phone and wanted to restore my progress on it. However, after turning on the Use Google Drive option the setting, a tab popped up and ask me to choose an account. I picked one and the tab shrink. Then just about half of a second later that same tab popped up again, I choose the same account and it shrinked. Then once again it popped up. I choose the same account again and the tab is gone, but I was not logged in.
The app itself, the system, the kanji writing software, they're all great. It has everything I want. However, it keeps crashing, so I can't give it full marks.
Love the idea of this app. I just wish that I would get audio for all the terms I'm learning since I'm paying $3.49 for each one. It's hard to study n5 without all the audio.
Hello. Thanks for such an useful app, but it crashes quite a lot, like every 50 reviews. I'll definitely change it to 5 stars, but it bothers me a lot right now.
I like it very much, it helps greatly at learning new vocabulary and is worth every cent.
Awesome app for studying kanji and increasing vocabulary. You need to be able to read hiragana and katakana first!!
The writing practice is the best way to remember. Get a stylus; it helps!
The new feature is awesome! Make it easier to learn. Excellent app!!
I would rather find an app THAT IS FREE THEN HAS THE SAME CONTENTS AS THIS. ALSO HAS SO MANY ADS POPPING UP, CAN'T CONCENTRATE. I'll update u guys if i found one.
The app is good enough. But the audio files are overpriced.
Good app 👍 learning chinese 👌👏👏😮😮 I love this app fixed the problem solved the bugs please I want more apps please 😘 only one app so intresting thanks...
It's a lovely app, the only one who got me hooked and learning. Even if you don't purchase the audio packs it's a great tool (and they're worth it). The only aspect I'd like it to improve is to make the user able to easily change the ratio of new words and reviews. I know you can reschedule your reviews, but it's not intuitive at all.
