The app does not consistently load all the pages in the eEdition. I was told that I need to uninstall and reinstall the app. If that doesn't work, I need to call customer service to have them "reactivate" the email address associated with the account. I may need to call them every month to make sure that the email gets reactivated. WHAT?! (I have an automatic payment for the digital subscription.)

When notifications are shown for breaking news or other articles, and you click on it, it opens the app but not the article mentioned. 9/10 times the article mentioned doesn't even show up as you scroll through available articles, so you don't get to read whatever it is that is breaking news. That should be fixed.

If I try to open any articles, I get a blank screen. The home page loads. Customer service page is a blank screen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Did nothing. Oh, and it is still pretty much impossible to share stories using the app- do you not want people to be able to see your product on social media?? GIANT FAIL AGAIN, KC STAR.

This new app is terrible. ...many steps back from the one it replaced. Fully not user-friendly. Difficult to navigate. Links often don't react as expected. Some views don't provide all news / articles found on page view... For instance, letters to the editor and many other. Magnification is incredibly touchy as is moving between pages / screens. They state fewer ads... Really? It doesn't seem so. App is poorly thought out... They should have had others test it before putting it out!

This app is a pain to use. It is slow, full of bugs, and much worse than the prior app--which was not great. Maybe they'll get the problems worked out, but for now it is just frustrating. Pages don't load, the app freezes, restarts are frequent, and it is overall just difficult to use. Fix it please!

No search. No app feedback method. App shows a story in section after section (when it is tagged as being in many categories) so I scroll past similar content looking in vain for the actual story I want. Typically one seen in notifications. But when I click on a headline in the Android notification area does it load that story? Nope. Just the app on the main page so I must hunt. Remember, no keyword search feature. At least none I can find.

If the star would think of their readers first. 'Improved' app. is a diaster. Extremely inconsistant. The full page icon is generally not showing. Probably the main reason for the "updated" star is the appearane of the Google ads on the left side of the screen. For those using tablets and or an 11" Chromebook it is impossible to get a FULL SCREEN. Have had no success getting a thoughtfull response from customer service. Very poor communications with subscribers

After a week of installing and then deleting this app at the instructions of the Kansas City Star, I restalled again this morning and was able to open app twice before it failed to open again. I have gone to frequently asked questions as suggested by KC Star. None fit the issue of app not loading after opening for two times. The Star needs to update this app. Wait! It has been updated twice this week. What a waste of time and effort.

This new app is still full of bugs and doesn't work right on my Samsung tablet. I'm a longtime subscriber to the Star's edition. It works great for 2 or 3 days then it locks up and will not open. I have to uninstall it and then reinstall it every 2 or 3 days so I can read the paper. Very frustrating. Please fix the bugs.

The opening page just stays on the screen and the app doesn't load anything until I delete the app and reinstall. Also would like a sign in button when having to do this and not have to do preferences all over again.

The app has not worked correctly since it was updated. I cannot print the crossword or Sudoku. The reading view does not always connect so I cannot read the paper when I access the app. The access to bring up individual articles works inconsistently. This a horrible app!

I am a subscriber and have to sign in to read EACH story. I have contacted many people in customer service and IT and no one knows how to fix it. They just said I should read the E-Edition with a browser. This happened when I updated to version 7.6.

Signed in but still can't view. AMP pages are the worst and I can't get them to work at all. I shouldn't have to login every single time to read something. It should keep me logged in and open links in the app. Waste of time and money.

I'm happy to support my local paper but the app isn't very well organized. Same stories appear over and over again as you try to browse. Comics are a pain. Take a look at the major competition and see what you can learn.

I am a lifelong star subscriber. I transitioned from newsprint to e-edition and intended to continue as a star consumer. However I find the new app frustratingly difficult to navigate and I will have to re-evaluate.

I had been using subscription for several years until 5/6/21 when all of a sudden neither my wife's account nor my account could access our subscription. Contact with Customer Service was unable to determine why after 7 years we are unable to connect. They forwarded to a digital specialists who is probably in the US and after several emails, was able to access both accounts this morning 5/9/21 for about 1 hour. We are now back to square one. Absolutely very poor performance. At least the so call specialists got this to work for a while. I guess this is the problem when McClatchey designed their own site.

App works fine. The newspaper is pretty bias at times. The titles are misleading, injecting racism and sexism where there is not. But that's pretty typical in today's liberal controlled media. Local stuff is ok, but any article about government or politics is about as reliable as CNN. I dont care what politician The Star recommends, and how The Star recommends I should vote. You are literally telling readers how to vote and what they should care about. Your job is to communicate FACTS.

I like everything about this app except that it doesn't have dark mode. Dark mode really makes reading much nicer, and I like everything on my phone to be on the same theme. Give me a dark mode.

There isn't a way to search for s specific story in the app and ALL of the local news was about the Chiefs. When I chose my content I did not choose any sports news but that was all I got was more Chiefs stuff.
