It's the best Katakana learning app, cause it's so easy and simple. It concentrates on the important parts and doesn't try to come up with clever nonsensical learning methods. Problem is it instantly crashes now in Android 9. The hiragana version works though. Hope you can fix it. - reinstalling fixed that for me

this is really helpful for complete beginners, but not so much for revising because you have to start from zero every time and there isn't a lesson with all the characters mixed. i love that there is no ads, you can use it offline and doesn't take up much space. it's also very easy to use with no unnecessary features.

Same with its Hiragana counterpart, this was the only app that actually corrects my penmanship and, because of this, I naturally get the optimal amount of drills so that I actually retain what I just learned. Now, if only they have a Kanji app, I would be so fluent in writing, reading, and conversing in Japanese 😆

Best draw kana app I've used for the draw function, and also a good learning tool. It gradually reduces the amount of help you get as you get the character right.

I completed the hiragana counterpart of this app and I really liked it. This app is great as well except for the writing test. It is WAY too sensitive. I can't even write a character that is shown and for some reason it just skips entire lines and assumes you did it correctly. Really strange. The hiragana app's written tests work fine. I can film it if requested as trouble shooting feedback.

I tried about 7 or 8 other kana learning apps. And hiragana learn and katakana learn are by far my favorite. in about 2 weeks ive successfully learned both writing systems and i was just screwing around. I really like the groups that the kana are seperated into making it easier to learn than integrating the similar kana all in one so you do no become confused right off the bat.

Ignore the last user. They are the lazy ones not seeing that one section is for writing romaji and another is for the actual kana, plus wo and wa is not missing. I recommend this app for people who already a basic grasp at kana. This app helps your brain to recognize them faster which is essential for building better reading comprehension.

Contrary to how the unpopular reviews say it assumes you already know the characters, what the app does is introduce you to a small set of characters until you decide you are full comfortable with them, and then u may select others. You learn by repetition: seeing the characters, or writing them in romanji. Always been my favorite app :)

The exercises I feel are very effective, and are simple to answer because of the great clarity in design. I'd like to point out, however, that for the exercise of "Choose the katakana", under the "Vowels, k & s", ソ does not ever come up; and if it does, not frequently enough. In the other two exercises, it seems to show up just fine.

One of the best app to learn katakana. I highly recommend this app if you want a refresher in katakana. It doesn't teach you why shi + yo is sho or ni + yu is nyu it teach you some things but this app is more memorizing. But still a really good app.
