FYI. This is a sample - it's largely useless without a dreaded annual subscription. Looking at my guide books again I'll give the author credit. Between Fodor, Lonely Planet, & Frommers I like his the most. The books aren't enough, you need the app to use GPS to find things through your phone. It's the reason I bought the prior apps - I liked them even better.
Even if I wanted to pay for the app, I couldn't. The "purchase full product" randomly goes either to google play (and then what?) or quits the app. The "map" section automatically starts downloading a huge map. There should be a button to download it, having it download directly is annoying. The FAQ is empty. "Surf Reports" is empty. There should also be an option to sign up with Google. You should either fire whoever programmed this, or pay him more so that he doesn't publish a half-assed product that doesn't work.
Never allowed me to download the maps using wifi or LTE data. Multiple attempts, cleared data, uninstalled/reinstalled. Not to mention heaven forbid allowing the credentials to be used to log in on an iPhone! If it ever downloads the content I'll revise. Two wifi connections and 4 hours later I have nothing for the money I spent...
This app took us to many places we would not have known about. The book is amazing, but the app is updated constantly and gives you daily beach conditions. The GPS keeps you on the path..we trust it to get us where we are going. So far, the restaurant reviews have been spot on.
Ignore the negative reviews! My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon, so I downloaded a handful of similar apps to tell me what we can do on our trip. This one wins, hands down. The subscription fee is totally worth all the useful information and consistent updates!! Thank you for making an awesome app!!
I've paid for the subscription. However I still get padlock symbols next to a lot of the content. After trying to click into locked content, it tells me I must restore subscription. I click the button. Content appears to download. But when I try to access I still see E erything locked up.
I love the books, but this is just terrible. $18 a year for the same content as the book?!? most books will throw in a promo code to an app or charge a few bucks on top of buying the book. this one on the other hand... they went way the other direction.
Useless app unless you purchase the full $17.99 version. (Nice bait and switch with the free app) already bought the book version. I guess we'll stick to that.
A wealth of information, which seems to be pretty accurate. Obviously there are plenty of other sources of opinions out there, but my general experience is these others (eg, Yelp, Google, Faceblah) are just popular blather, this seems more objective. They don't cover an amazing restaurant which will remain unmentioned so it can continue to be the stunning find it is!!
Unable to purchase. Keep getting an error message that I am unable to purchase the application. Too expensive and shouldn't be an annual subscription.
I'm happy to pay for quality content, but the in app subscription model means I can't share this in my family library. Lame.
Love love the up to the day/week updated info. Awesome like the books just less to carry. Wtg good job!
Will not finish downloading maps. App is useless. Do not download. Wasted time and money.
Bought the book and they still make you pay for the app
don't visit kauai without it!!
Amazing source of knowledge and advice that is well curated. They have also been responsive when I've sent questions through the app. Overall an indispensable and very well written and readable guide for Kauai. It's not 5 stars because I've encountered minor frustrations with functionality. It's hard to say if it's the app, my phone or the downright spotty and unreliable connectivity of the island.
