Old version on my previous phone had an ebook download button that appeared after checkout. Can't find that on the new version; had to hunt & peck before giving up and going into overdrive to download it. Maybe that's how they want it? Seems unintuitive and less user friendly, but what do I know? Apps still pretty slow, but mostly just the home page. Other sections (borrowing, shelves, ect) are moderately faster in the new version.
It's very glitchy. The hold system is great on theory, if it ever loaded. The search system is great in theory, if it ever loaded. Nothing seems to work better than subpar. The layout of the app is sloppy and difficult to navigate (esp at first). The theory of this app is awesome, the hold system, being able to check when your books are due back, etc... In practice it's a nightmare. I'd much rather use kcls thru my web browser.
The updated app is much worse than the previous one. Simple operations take much longer and involve many more clicks. Take for example extending the book. It was super simple in the previous version; the current one takes a lot of clocks to find "due soon" and lots of waiting to render the list
Terrible experience. When trying to download a book that had just become available from a hold, it kept telling me the book was not available and offering to place a hold. I will be uninstalling until someone works out the bugs.
I am an absolutely super fan of kcls. I have been a library card member for many years and look forward to using my card steadily in my future years. I've never had any unpleasant experiences with the staff in any department. Add to that the great number of subjects within every genre and very large numbers of books they purchase & select to order in every genre each month. The clubs, selected authors who are brought to the branches to interact with fans and the library has much more. Join up.
I love being able to put books on hold at the comfort of home, as well as know instantly when it arrives, and when its overdue.
KCLS is so accessible - browsing catalog, making holds, finding due dates, even reviewing my borrowing history (I can turn that off) I love this ap!
I can request holds, but i cant request a pickup through the app. Make it happen
great app for accessing books of choice
Bad I don't like it I need a library card to use it :(
Love the library and the website is wonderful
Let's me thoughtfully pick out books In
Did you update the app? I don't like it.
Unable to update app—after several tries—as of 4/22/21. Cleared app cache, cleared Google Play Store cache AND data. Just updated 14 other apps w/o issue. Bummer, since I was *hoping* an app update would make it so I don't have to install & use several different apps JUST to checkout & download ONE e-book. As it is now, it's still easier to just use the KCLS website (desktop or mobile) than the KCLS app. Tried all the "tips & tricks" Google recommended. No change.
Love it! I especially like viewing my holds and fines so easily. :)
Very PRACTICAL. I'm surprised it doesn't have a higher rating. I use this every week to put books on hold.
Latest Galaxy update made it necessary to reinstall in order to work. Have been very satisfied other than that.
It was working until the last update I installed. Now I can put books on hold or the app freezes my phone. Also, it isn't letting me check my borrowed list. Hope there is another update soon because this was the best app on my phone before the update. (Android user)
Same comment as JW Mactutis. Now can't put books on hold and trying to do so locks up Android S7.
The new update does not have a good recommendation area. I cannot put in titles to recommend anymore, just browse what they have. I would like to be able to recommend audio books in certain ones.
Basic functions like holds and reviews don't even work; don't waste your time
Last update broke the ability to put something on hold.
Still not working- can't place holds.
Stops working when trying to put books on hold 😭
I now love this app. It works and gives me quick and easy access to the library catalogue, and my account.
Good app to checkout and hold books online. Easy to pause holds too.
Can't complete simple tasks such as placing a book on hold.
New update terrible. App does not save passwords. Not intuitive to find shelves or navigate. Downloads to Kindle TERRIBLE. Once you finally figure out how to even check out the book, you are just put back to the original place to find by random searching what to do next. Then you have to figure out what to click (twice!) to actually download. Then you have to remember your Amazon password. I've given up several times lately and am reading a paper book for a while.
