Very disappointed. Unstable, slow, and limited options. Frustrated to use. Cannot create playlist from remote media source, really?
April 2022 - still very buggy. Drop out on one channel occasionally, library indexing all messed up after a while, gapless playback is buggy.
I just got a pair of LSX speakers which sound great but the app makes it difficult to achieve a good listening experience because: it loses connection, plays only one song at a time, hard to navigate, latency with commands, long pause between songs, bottom line, if you are having troubles and frustration with this app it is not your fault. All that said I saw on another review that the iOS app functions better and it is true. Still not great but just played an entire 24 song playlist from start to finish.
Because of an update to this app yesterday, my speakers have stopped working. Within the app, when I connect to the speakers, I now get a message informing me that I can update the firmware of the speakers. I do not wish to do this. They work fine, or did until this update. The app then fails to connect, presumably until I endure the process of moving very heavy speakers to my PC. Then enduring endless error messages until my elderly PC finally updates the firmware that I neither need nor want. Please roll back to the previous version of the app until you have fixed this bug, and no longer force firmware updates on us. Kef, your speakers are sublime. Why do you not invest in half decent software?
Have had some issues in the past using with Tidal, but pleased to report that it now seems to be working well. Also great for playing FLAC music files saved locally on my phone. I currently also have the Bowers and Wilkins Formation Wedge and have to say that the KEF app is better (plus the speakers are better too). Thanks for continuing to improve the app!
Like the other KEF app (why does it take two, when Sonos works faultlessly with one?), the KEF Stream cripples a potentially good product, to the point that I won't buy anything else from KEF. An utter waste of £1000 LSX speakers. They are only reliably used via optical connection from a CD player. Bluetooth works, but quality is average at best, and the sound/picture lag from either YouTube or TV is so distracting that watching anything with speech is impossible. Can I rate the app as zero?
Tidal on this app doesn't have some of the most important features - mixes (My Mix) and Daily Discovery which is a real shame and makes the whole system significantly less usable. If I had known this before I bought it, I would think twice. Also, the pauses between songs are way too long, what is that about...? Altogether very disappointing...
Advice: Try an iphone/ipad if you have a decent one lying around, while not gapless it will play through a list reasonably well and maintain the remote connection much better. I have an 11 for work luckily... Best wireless Sq for these speakers is Tidal over wifi and the app. I have a chromecast audio in the back for easy tidal connect playback as well but its not as dynamic, clear or detailed. Ditto with an optical input. Both still good though. With my Pixel 3 this app is rubbish. Sad to say it, but Apple's the go with this in my experience. With an iphone the app is prob 3-3.5 stars
App isn't as bad as other reviewers have said. Works fine for me but needs a bit more development. Playing music straight from my devices is a bit of a hassle. Why doesn't the home page have a full list of my music? Why do songs play on repeat when I searched for them? Just basic fixes like these and it'll be fine.
horrible app, works 1 in 99 times. doesn't connect to speakers, lose connection during playback, huge delay between hit play and start playin. The list of issue is huge. This is the worst wireless speaker experience ever. For a 3000$ speakers, this app kills the experience. will sell the speakers soon.
A year later, not much improvement, still a primitive app. Connecting speakers would fail sometimes during playback. Same album art for all songs. Not good. I guess the mentality of the vendor is, you bought the speakers already, why wasted the resource to make app better.
basically, unusable. Spontaneously disconnects, lags, drops, hangs - you name it. The only solution, it seems, is to buy an external streamer with decent software. Bottom line, KEF LSX is not a all-in-one product, its streamer is inusable because of the control application bugs...
