This Kenwood is incompatible w/my Samsung S9. I had to download this app...just so I could charge my phone w/their USB. So I have the app and USB cable attached. Know what it does when I plug it in after starting my car and plugging it in? Dumb "I like beer" song playing through my phone. Not my radio, just the phone. I have to push through the buttons to get back to my Blue Tooth music. While I have more volume and less interference with this new radio, my Scosche was at least more intuitive.

Deserves zero stars. I'm not able to charge my phone with the included USB port as it only tells me that I have to download this app to maintain content even though I want my music to play through Bluetooth. I downloaded anyway in the hopes that it would have a setting allowing my to change the USB to charging only, and the only "setting" listed for the app is licensing info. Not able to play Spotify through it, shows that there's an Android error, and won't charge. 0 stars on the device and app

Hot garbage! Won't work properly on Note 20 Ultra. Will connect USB initially, but won't play audio through the stereo. Will only play the audio through the phone and the controls will be enabled on the stereo, but if you try to change anything such as the USB connection then the app crashes. Useless!

Works great on my fold 3. All you have to do is plug in and make sure you have Atleast one song/sound saved so that it will "int Bluetooth", from there just press the home button while the stock sound/song is still playing and open up your favorite music app and BING BONG POW, JUST LIKE MAGIC IT WORKS! Knuckle heads need to stop giving this good developer a bad reputation.

This app doesn't work on my Motoroloa phone. It just tells me to connect to a kenwood device. When I connect I can play audio from the phone, but the app just keeps telling me to connect to the kenwood device. There is no point having this app on my phone. The second screen capture above is all I ever see.

Pointless? Was hoping to have an alternative connection to play Pandora. Wanted to turn off Bluetooth & allow playback via the USB input. No go. Only plays downloaded music? I didn't know any1 still downloaded music.. Unsure I'd know where to do so. Kenwood is/has been such A Gold Standard in AC equipment.. I'd think some effort would get put into an app so it gave users more options for their equipment. AV equipment is increasingly sparse.. Lower cost, greater flexibility could save it.

Installed and used then got a new phone. Says to connect USB cable! Bluegtooth connects but is not recognized. Can use cable without the program. USELESS and it hasn't been updated since 2015!? No wonder it doesn't work anymore. Trash. Do not bother downloading. Too bad I cannot give ZERO stars and that would be generous.

Awful interface. DO NOT get this stereo or the companion app. They both overthink too much and often refuse to work without restarting the phone, car, and stereo. Too complicated of a stereo, and too little on the app. Not good for drivers who want a reliable music player. Need a passenger just to operate it.

Incredibly, this app broke all audio on my phone apart from media players (YouTube, Spotify). Even videos in chrome, or notifications through maps. Verified this by restarting in safe mode, apps worked fine, uninstalled this app, apps worked fine again. Not only that - it didn't even work when plugged into the player so not only useless - less than! AVOID.

This app singularly changed my opinion of Kenwood. The fact they would let something this bad bear their name tells me they simply don't care. I bought a KMM-BT522HD. My work iPhone connects fine to it. My Samsung S10 says it requires this app to access. Once installed, the app does nothing but autoplay from your downloaded files. So if you have ringtones or kids apps (like Elmo Calls), it will automatically start playing it. It should just play the default output stream like IOS does. Useless.

I am able to connect an iPhone 7 to my stereo without use of this app however i recently upgraded to a Samsung galaxy S10 and no music can play with or without the app. "reading" is shown flashing on the screen before it just displays "na device". The app does nothing and i cannot acces spotify through it anyway so would be even more useless. I hope this can be resolved but i doubt it.

Worked on my old LG K20+. I recently upgraded to the Galaxy S10+ and now the USB port is useless because the app seems to be abandoned and not updated to be compatible with newer phones. I now have to resort to the aux input which doesnt allow me to control the phone from the receiver or the remote. I will avoid buying any kenwood products in the future due to their lack of support. If I was a new buyer I would be even more livid as Kenwood claims that this is "compatible".

I just want to charge my phone but the it will play music from my phone. Not my car and I can't even pause the music. When I change the USB device to only charge my phone it will disconnect then reconnect and do the same thing over again. I plug in my phone, change it to Bluetooth audio then it just disconnects and reconnects and goes back to playing music from my phone that I can't change to Spotify....common man it's super irritating

I would expect to be able to atleast charge my phone with any new head unit. I can live without all the other industry standar features available to almost every other unit sold since early 2000's. Instead kenwood have miserably failed at creating a simple app (or a device that doesnt require an app to function). Your usb port and app are about as useful as a jammed typewriter with no ink.

First of all, you have to constantly disconnect and reconnect the phone to get it even connected. When you're connected, you cannot choose the media, which you want to play. The app just picks something random to play. And the best feature: the audio comes from the phone's speakers, even though android thinks it has selected the player as the audio output.

it completely blocks out Pandora from your phone. You can't switch through the stations and sometimes the only way to switch the song is from your phone. it looks like there are options but they don't work.

Tyl. B. Dec 9, 2020

Literally does not work. Will only play music out of your phone. No touch screen options too? This is absolute bare bones minimum lazy effort. Not a good backup option of your headphone jack isn't working. Just buy a better brand stereo system. Doesn't take much to build a better app than this...

I have loved this app for quite a few years n have always kept my phone synced with my car stereo with the microphone to my stereo attached to steering wheel column. I switched cars few months ago but have since gotten back into my car with the Kenwood stereo n cant hook up to my stereo. I open app but it will not read my phone anymore. I have the Samsung Galaxy J7 Refine android for some reason it's not on the compatability list. Do I have to now replace my stereo to get my phone working again?

Bri. E. Dec 9, 2018

Literally does nothing. Phone acknowledged connect of a USB device, but the app just sits there telling me to connect a USB device. The stereo in question is a Kenwood, so their app should work with their own stereo but no. Won't pair via Bluetooth either. Not sure if phone, stereo, or Kenwood software is to blame.

Bry. W. Mar 11, 2021

Terrible I bought this stereo for a few simple reasons (as advertised) all of which do not work. Apparently this product only works for older devices and they have no way of updating the software to make it compatible. Tech leading developers can't seem to make thier product work with newer technologies,.. hmmm?

Ale. M. Sep 1, 2019

Pretty terrible. Doesn't work with current android. Works poorly with old android. Can't charge phone on receiver without constant prompts to install the app. Worst thing is that the connection keeps resetting even power to try and initialize the app.

Ky'. A. Jan 16, 2019

Just got my stereo finally hooked up. At first it was kinda questionable, but after taking your time everything works as the app says. If you can't connect via Bluetooth for older devices, Press the HOME button, Click the GEAR icon, scroll to SYSTEM. Then go BLUETOOTH SETUP. Look for PAIRED DEVICE LIST. Once you see your device listed, click that device and hit connection to ON... you now have music

Crashes on androids newer than 2019. Won't run at all or connect to the receiver because the app doesn't work. Edit: tried this on multiple phones and tablets. No devices connect, and as soon as you plug a phone in, the app will self close.

Nat. Feb 1, 2021

Doesn't work has to be reconnected over and over plays only through the phone speakers which isn't good I'd you want it for a car like I do, oh and has its own media which it chooses to play I literally wanted to just connect bluetooth and use youtube for music but this system fails to do that properly and this app fails to do anything

This app is to be placed at the bottom of the junk bucket list. I'm not sure how to give this app half star rating or less. My phone recognized that I tried to connect to a kenwood device and sent me off to the play store to download this app. That was the start of my frustration with kenwood products. This app will not recognize that my phone is connected.
