Update 4/2022: The 2020 force stop issue below was resolved at the next update, all good since then. Original review: I love KERA and this app, but it has been getting flakier over time. The stream frequently stops, either resuming on its own after a while, or needing me to hit Play again. Now since the 3/5/2020 update, the app hangs unresponsive multiple times per day, requiring a force stop.
This app has worked reliably without affecting my device's performance. I have used it across the USA and abroad. Minimal ad intrusion is great.
This is an excellent app provided by an outstanding organization. Thank You for everything that you do.
The app goes in and out more often than not right in the middle of an interview or story that I'm very interested in. It will either just last for 2 seconds so you'll miss the sentencing in a statement or it'll just drop totally for 2 3 4 minutes come back on sometimes never comes back on. Other than that love the station love the stories and love everything the app needs some work. Thank you.
Sometimes I press the wrong spot which takes me to music and I can't get back to NPR.
Great app, if you like to your local NPR radio anywhere in the world.
Sometimes the program doesn't load after the ad plays
I love public radio - just moved to North Dallas and instantly downloaded this app. I think they should review the apps for WBEZ and WAMU. This one is much less flexible. I still enjoy it but cant seem to choose earlier broadcasts if not interested in the current broadcast. Still well worth using for long form trustworthy news and features
The KERA app is uniquely comprehensive. Its also user-friendly! Everything works, including audio, so we can stream the station, most recently during the power outage. You all were, and still are, the only game in town! A happy listener in Rockwall, Texas
Great source of entertainment for the road
Audio cuts in and out frequently. When I reported it, they blamed the problem on me...too many apps open, need to uninstall and reinstall... tried that and still have the problem. No such issue with any other apps .
I wish it remembered what show you were watching when you reopen it. I wish it had CC . I wish it enabled you to select favorites. Overall, have had a positive experience fr a technical view and enjoy seeing shows I like on demand. Some bells and whistles like other on demand apps have would be appreciated.
Every day around 3pm (CST) it stops working and I have to close it and reopen it several times which sometimes makes it work but most times I give up. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times in the last 6 months.
Nice having an "NPR listening" app for my local station (instead of via browser), but either it has poor "buffering" design or it just cuts out or pauses way too often (listening via WiFi, and my Apple TV "KERA radio" stream never exhibits the same glitch on same WiFi network).
Since the March 5th update this app has constantly stopped working. With audio dropping in and out over and over. Even on very strong wifi signal. It's my most used app and it really stinks that the update messed it up so badly. Fix it please!!
this is the best NPR app that I have used, but the volume is very low and difficult to hear, and is difficult to move between live and podcasts. It always starts and is dependable
This app is horrible. The station plays for about 2-3 minutes and then cuts off. It has to be manually restarted every time. I love the station. Just wish I could hear it.
Pretty good. The live feed sometimes cuts out for no apparent reason and there is a delay of a few seconds from the radio transmission but otherwise nice and clear.
This app plays my NPR station and has episodes of shows on tap for replaying. I am happy with this app. I've had this app on my phone for about two years and have never had an issue with it.
Please turn your volume up a little more. On Some of my devices I can hardly hear the programs. When I first turn on your app your sponsors list is very loud but when it switches over to the live programming the volume goes too far down.
