So far i can only get home or padlock keys made for a digital copy. when i try to get a digital copy of my ignition key, that does not have a chip, the store machine does not give the option to save it on my app. If you have military strength data encryption & have to use a password each time you login to the app, you should allow us the ability to get a copy of our ignition key. otherwise some of the reviews are not accurate then on your app ratings. Thank You.
Great concept and saved me so much money already. I was able to send my mom a copy of her house key from 3 states away when she lost her keys. No locksmith needed! Thank you so much KeyHero and the person that invented this much needed app. For those having trouble, you have to start with "make a physical key", then choose option "save a digital copy" to save it on the app. After you have it stored, you can then "make a digital copy".
Very disappointing experience. I was at Lowes and the Kiosk asked for a code from the app. I reluctantly installed the app but time and again, I could not get past the sign on screen. I never got a code. Couldn't make a key. I tried for an hour. And Lowes closed and I left without a key. I hate your app. This task was important to me and your app made it impossible.
This app is handy, but not everyday handy (unless you need to cut keys regularly). Therefore, the developers need to give users the option to move the app from internal memory to external memory (SD card). I can't afford to waste 48MB of internal memory on an app I may use once in a blue moon. And since I can't move it to external memory, I'm uninstalling it. Also, there's no website for managing your keys/account. If you login via a browser, you get a dead page that confirms you're logged in.
Went to the kiosk and it gave me a pin number. But there was no place to enter the pin number on the app. The people at the store didnt know anything about the app or the service. *added* I don't have any saved keys because the kiosk won't allow any initial scanning of the key. I went to get a key scanned and saved, but the machine would not do it. All it would do was offer me a PIN number and the app said that I didn't have any keys.
This software is potentially useful to those people who either cannot or will not look closely at the cuts on their keys. Essentially its a vernier caliper for people who like playing on phones. I am impressed by the rollout of MinuteKeyosks (e.g. walmart). The machine charges three times as much as any place where a person cuts keys. And if it was possible to just enter WR3 or KW1 and the bitting (a five digit number) of the key you need, it would be a bargain and serve a purpose
You need to update this an do some fixes. I tried and can't even select a store for a digital copy... thought this was going to be great but other than making a key on the spot it's useless.
Spent my time going down to get a digital copy of my key, and there is no way in the app to get past the store locator button. I need the spot that shows where to put in the pin number from the machine and there is NO place in the app to do it. There is no way to select a store, there is no way to enter a pin, there's no way to get past the store locator screen. So it's impossible to make a key. What a waste
Wonderful idea to help stay organized and much more efficient when a duplicate or many copies need to be made. This app is especially useful when you manage a facility with many many keys and multiple employees all with different access levels and different key rings. The best feature is the remote access feature enabling me to send via text or email a digital copy of a key to whomever for a set length of time allowing copies to be made without me being present yet maintaining full control.
My first experience with a KeyHero kiosk was at my local HomeDepot because I had to make copies of my car key and realized I had the option to save the key to this app. I went for it and haven't had to go back yet but this should streamline the process by allowing me to load up the key and get it cut in minutes.
Easy, reliable, inexpensive. Great tech support, fixed the minor issue I had within a day. Keys that were cut work great. None of that jagged, hard to push in or pull out stuff at the door. Now I can share my key with family members virtually, in case there's ever an issue. Pretty awesome.
Never did I think would have to use this app but I did today. Daughter locked door and I didn't have my house key so I was locked out. It took me a minute to find the link sent 4 months ago in my texts but i found it, installed the app them headed to home depot. The "key man" was more of the issue than the app itself so it took a minimum to figure out which "screen" to get the 7 digit code from. It was the bigger screen...then choose the small box in lower left corner that says use app. Got key!
Worked like a champ! It would preclude confusion if the app would tell you to select the digital key option on the screen to get the pin. Other than that, I'd give this app 6 stars for convenience and quality key reproduction.
I had a very smooth installation process for this app. I followed the instructions and received my digital copy of my key. Very easy to use and now I can get a key cut without having the key with me. The first key I had cut worked perfectly.
The kiosk at Home Depot asked for.my phone number. So I entered it and later signed up for the app. The app does not associate phone numbers with accounts so I never got my key. At Lowes the Kiosk asked for a PIN when there is no way to enter it in this version of the app. They have major issues to fix
Sad..... made keys at Lowes a week ago and selected the digital key option. I've gotten several emails asking me to complete the process and dwnload this app. Did that hoping I'd have a better experience than all the other bad reviews. Not so chicken Ho. Did everything in the order listed and after confirming my email and hitting the accept key button, no keys available! Say what??!! Useless. Will delete app.
App has 1 purpose. It has never once succeeded at that purpose. I have been sent 4 seperate links from 2 different machines to my phone via text. All 4 just open the app and do nothing else. No keys are saved in my account.
Terrible app. Under the assumption that it's a self serve kiosk. It's not. One must wait an eternity for an employee at home depot to do it. Then they have no idea how to get you a digital key. You're better off going to a minute key self serve kiosk.
So far so good. Had to go to email and follow the steps back and forth through several steps and emails and the app on my phone and the computer desk top websight until it was complete. I have a saved key profile. Not to terribly difficult but requires a little patience.
The actual call in customer service is great, paid with CC and neither key worked once tested at home. Called and was refunded for both. Talked to a person relatively quick and was done. App is basic but does want it says.
There is no way to enter a PIN to upload a digital key. This is most user's first experience trying to use the app and is utterly broken. Overall a very frustrating experience.
I dont really see the purpose in this app. My keys dont show up in it. It only shows you locations. Gonna delete it. Great concept but it flat out doesn't work. 0 stars.
I had the same experience as the other 1 star reviewers for this app- the kiosk asked me to enter a PIN into the KeyHero app. I downloaded the app, signed up for an account, and there is no option in the app to enter the PIN on the kiosk into the app. The developer needs to fix this issue.
First step in making a digital backup is to enter the PIN from the machine on the app. There is no option to enter a PIN. Good idea, horrible execution. This app is useless.
At the kiosk it was fine but now that I'm trying to confirm my email I can't. I've confirmed and it said to close that that email... and I should be able to see what keys I had made. I can't I cannot get past confirm email on this app. This sucks. Not going to keep an app on my phone that I can't use so I'm going to uninstall it...
Tried 4 times to cut a key. The app confirms success each time, but the machine is stuck thinking. If it weren't for the awesome efforts of the Home Depot employee, I would have walked away with no key.
The quality of your keys is flimsy and the cut keys rarely worked, never without a struggle. I constantly had to go get the other set from my friend, who was assisting me while I've been recuperating. I finally went back to Lowe's, where the key hero machine is located, and ask them to replace it. Their key worked from day one. And they didn't charge me to replace it...sure they get a cut Why put a guarantee that you cannot live up to? How can I recommend your product? Help me with this one.
Who designed this user experience? Completely useless. I'm at the kiosk with app in hand and there is no place to enter the code the kiosk wants me to add. Stuck... can't complete the basic task the app was made for... ux failure, will be my new textbook example
thought app would be great. problem is that when i got locked out, i didn't have my phone or wallet with me. maybe they could have a website that stored our keys and was accessible from home Depot, and we could have a key prepaid on the site. had to use rock instead, since i could not call a locksmith.
So the app works great, but the instructions are terrible. First, it won't backup your keys unless you have an active account. It will text you a link to download the app, but no backup. The problem that people have been having with not being able to enter the code is that that's only to make keys from the app itself, not to back them up. The only way to back them up is to make another physical copy, then at the end, the kiosk asked if I want a physical backup. Send to your account email.
