KGW 8 News - Portland

Content duplicated every day on this app. Are your journalists too lazy to do their jobs? An article should never appear twice the same day in two spots or on multiple days. We want unique content. This is the worst news app ever unless you like seeing the same article for two+ weeks in a row.

Please fix this horrible app! Once this was a decent app for local news. Now not so much. It's really a challenge to get past the top headlines and into other stories without having to open and close the app several times. Next, why do the stories start with no sound, instantly close and then an ad appears and then the story starts again? I can understand showing ads but the ads should simply load first, then show the story. This latest version of the app has several bugs!

The app is horrible. I so want it to work because KGW traditionally has a good weather forecast. The app takes forever to load...it sometimes crashes... I get alerts about a particular headline, but clicking the alert takes me to a page of unrelated headlines. It's the clumsiest user interface. I keep it only because I'm not running out of space on my phone. The moment that happens, this app will be the first to go.

Awful changes! I used your app for traffic and weather daily, now it's useless. I don't want to be redirected to Waze or flash alert! I need to know the morning commutes like you used to show. Now you also cannot read local, regional & world news. Bad design change. Constantly freezes & won't scroll down. I'm deleting this app.

Kinda sketch with loading and crashing, but not horrible. UPDATE: Finally uninstalled. The ads automatically running even without me touching the screen was the final straw... and I dealt with the slow-loading that led to click bait before that. There has got to be better out there.

A little slow and jerky when scrolling down through the stories. It would be nice if the interface was more like the website with a header and tabs to select the category of story rather than having to scroll through the whole list to get to one at the bottom.

This app is terrible. They completely got rid of all organization and clarity. You dont know if you're looking at real news stories or click bait ads because they all look the same. You scroll and ads constantly pop up. There might be sports on there, but I cant find it! It's a real cluster.

Already uninstalled. Even though it indicates that you can select which categories you want notifications for - separate from the categories you favorite - I was getting notifications for everything which clearly isn't what I want. Apparently the only way to correct this is to not have the app at all. Problem solved.

Wow, what an "upgrade". The app now plays a five second animation every time it starts - really??? Hard to find any news, only see a few items and then Twitter junk and such? Sorry folks, the old version was better in every respect. Switched to a competitor.

Really disappointed with this app. Slow to update on recent or breaking news stories and many of what I feel are clickbait videos. The article may have a video with it but many times the video has nothing to do with the headline of the article.

Sometimes hard to read hyperlinks for night mode, some news articles can be irrelevant to my interest

Very slow loading on many stories from my Android phone. Many links do not work or lead to an opening page that doesnt open. Old headlines stay around and app seems anxious just to make me watch the news. Videos sometimes dont work. Would not reccomend now.

This app is junk. I get notifications about a new story, when I click the notification it opens the app and takes me to a different story. Sometimes the different story is days old. This happens all of the time. Not a good news app.

I definitely enjoy the new Kgw app more than the previous app. I enjoy the viewer vote of the day. The graphics and photographs are terrific. My only complaint is I get frustrated if I cannot find a story I am looking for or I want to comment on something and cannot find where -or if- I can do that.

I just uploaded the app a few days ago. It looks nice and I appreciate the breaking news updates. I am frustrated that sentences are cut off when I try to read stories, though. I'll have to find another news app.

Im a loyal KGW fan for nearly 40 years but this new app is the worst. The main page is currently full of stories about Woodlawn Elementary & very little else. Navigating to find things like radar are always difficult. I finally just uninstalled. Best news & weather around on television but extremely useless & frustrating app. I hate to say it but I am going to give the 2nd best newstation in Ptown app a try. I'll still watch KGW but I need a good app for my phone!

horrible change, have had to reinstall 3x, go back to the original or at least add some visual content; every change with them anymore gets worse, just like when they changed the weather visual depictions on the news for awhile!

Deleting after a 2 week trial. Very slow to load and runs slowly and jerky. Uses a huge amount of mobile data. Looks nothing like the screens shown here. 2/3 of screen taken by ribbons and ads.

Much too difficult to follow. Cant find news notifications. Stopped Covid-19 stats. Too many changes too often. "If it ain't broke, dont fix it", even to preserve some IT job secuity!

Good app: has local stories from KGW. BUT, you can't full-screen the videos in the app. (7/15 They've fixed it; you can click on the video and click on the full-screen symbol.)

Don't like the new app. No contact us info. To find something you have to keep scrolling through the whole page. Much prefer the old app with a menu. I find the new one very frustrating

used to enjoy this app quite a bit. not anymore. every time I try to read an article, the app will not allow to scroll. then it shuts itself off, asks me if i want to report the error. then it starts itself up again. And then we go through the whole damn cycle all over again. i am uninstalling !!!

I find this app not user friendly at all. I would rather be able to find things easier. Good visuals are important but if I can't find the information visuals don't matter

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I have been using the KGW app for years, however, I uninstalled the app as of this morning because it is not user-friendly. There are a lot of things that have been taken away that was extremely beneficial with like the weather, and the traffic portion of the app. I don't mind change, but would you trade something to make it less user-friendly, and what you have to scroll for 2 hours tryin to find what you're looking for, then I have to do what I have to do.

the new "modernized look and feel" is pretty poor, granted the previous version was outdated but at least was quick and easy to browse which story you wanted to read with a hierarchy of headlines

I reinstalled this app to give it another chance and after about 10 minutes of comparing two smaller local news applications I realize that this app does not stay current with breaking news or relevant stories to the community. they've been talking about measles for a year now and just repeating the same stuff over and over.
