Kievan Rus’

Kievan Rus’ is a strategy game with a focus on political maneuvering. Here war is just a tool of the trade.

This game enables you to play as the ruler of Kievan Rus’, one of the mightiest states of the world of that time. The Middle Ages is a setting that is truly a treasure for any strategy game fan. In the game, there are 35 states, and Barbarians, who have their own territory and resources.

However, the ruler’s way to domination is not going to be a walk in the park. Get ready for deadly wars and backstairs politics – you will be confronted by the most powerful states of the game world, including England that dominates seas, Balkan states (Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia), and the Arab state of Syria, with a huge army at its disposal. So you think the Roman Empire has made great progress? Perhaps, you prefer European states, such as France and Scotland? Or it is Byzantium that you consider to be a good example? Let them know you are ready to fight head-to-head and build your own empire, and that you are a dictator and a strategist. Their aim is to advance their own civilization while preventing yours from doing so. Put your political foresight to the test and find out whether you are good at strategy and diplomacy – lead your country through ages and epochs.

To succeed, engage in wars with your rivals. Raise your own army and fleet, declare wars or start fighting in them when they are in full swing. Deploy spies and send saboteurs to your enemy country to find out what they are going to do. Invade states, conquer lands and capture rare resources.

A sagacious dictator is key to state policy success. Manage foreign affairs, conclude non-aggression pacts, and make suggestions to be considered by other states. Remember that diplomacy and well-thought-out policy are often more effective options than war.

Don’t forget about state economic activities: produce food, and manufacture weapons for your army. Use researches to increase the amount of manufactured goods and military capability. However, a single civilization cannot produce everything, so you will have to trade with other states and buy rare resources and goods.

Introduce new laws and make your citizens abide by them. You can establish the civilization religion of your choice. Appoint army and fleet commanders, and tax, trade, economy and construction chiefs. Separatism will not be tolerated: quell riots occurring in your state. Your empire will be mightiest, and diplomacy, weapons and economy will help you achieve it.

The game uses real-life states that existed at that time, with real historic events. The large and detailed map will enable you to see information about your own territory and that of other countries. These are just the game basics: you can find out how much it offers only by playing it.

The game does not require Internet connection, and you can play it anywhere you like. There is no set time limit for turns: you can choose the game pace to your liking. The geopolitical strategy set in the Middle Ages with a special focus on the Slavs is available on smartphones and tablets. It is a good way to spend time, as it combines entertainment and brain exercise.

The game is pretty fun overall but I can't get over the fact that there is no autosave. For a game that takes days and days of playing to achieve any level of progress and often requires watching quite literally hundreds of ads to get a decent income stream, you would think they would make saving a tad bit easier than following an external link to a cloud side that rarely works. I lost a week's worth of progress and decided to uninstall.

Has potential to be a very good game but have some problems: 1) to much FORCED adds without rewards every 10 clicks. 2) Resources are not collected when we are offline. 3) I want to begin wars but we have to wait a LOT until we have some buildings and resources, making the beginning very boring. 4) i couldn't understand the UI, and the tutorial wasn't clear, i understood it after a while. 5) i feel the game like a text based adventure

I've always wanted to cause several wars in eastern Europe, become a tyrant and then get camped by some goofy goober back in 30'. In all seriousness, this is a good game. At first, it's difficult to navigate, but you get a hang of it quickly. Everything's cool. But the graphics in the battle mode are, well, not good. Improve the animations and images for the unit types in the battle. Really like how infantry throw torches to damage ships, and not just levitate around them.

its a brilliant game, and you can tell the developers try their best to simulate the world economy and diplomacy, but whenever I tried to restart the game, or change to a different country, it continually crashes after the loading screen. This happens on the other series as well. I think the Devs would make more revenue if instead of making things such as speeding up time, and having to go premium to change countries, removed them, and looked for ways to make money that keeps the game's realism.

*real person* I will admit, I got a little frustrated at first. This game was a little slow in the beginning and has a bit of a learning curve. However the more I play it the more i really enjoy it. There seem to be a few bugs such as some menus are hard to read because when you choose something the pop up window does not have its own background and the text is a dark color making it hard to read. (I'm happy to provide a screenshot to the makers to help explain what i mean if they would like.)

Good game it has some serious potential! you need to be clever and actually build and upgrade. option to watch ads instead of paying always good for people like me who don't pay to play but you can watch. no brainer really to me, still has some minor issues but can easily be fixed. overall its worth the time and money.

The game is great. One major quip I have is needing to "support" every nation's sovereignty/make "promises" to every state in order to maintain relations. It's extremely repetitive. If a system could be implemented to expedite the process, the game would easily be 5 stars. But micromanaging my relations with every state and country makes the game exhausting.

It's a great game, but we start with product deficits, which is annoying. By the time I had built enough factories and such to increase rating and population, all the other nations had like 30000 more military power than me, making it almost impossible to defend myself unless I watched a ton of ads and bought a lot of mercenaries. Other than that, it's a great game.

Ok, so, I like the game's concept. One problem though: I can NEVER make a major advancement. I can never gain resources at even an enjoyable speed, make any significant amounts of money from trading, or take over any country, because despite me having a stronger military power, they have way more troops. On top of that, I can't find anything online to help me along. I need some serious help in order to enjoy the game. I just restarted and was immediately attacked by the Roman bloody Empire.

So, I play on both my chromebook and my phone. This game is amazing on my note 8, but my only problem is that on my chromebook, when trying to buy or recruit any of the 6 units that make up your army, the screen glazes over, but the "+" or "-" buttons do not pop up like they do on my phone. Great game, I'm hoping this issue gets resolved soon because I can't really play on my chromebook if it doesn't. EDIT: the game itself needs a fullscreen option on chromebook, but it's playable without it.

It is a fun game to play. It's challenging not like an average strategy game that has only external affairs but this one has internal affairs too. One time i wanted to conquer Constantinople but it took me weeks in real life. I had to deal with many problems and invasions. If you like slow and challenging strategy game it's for you. You can try 'Age of Colonization' if you want to play in the 18th and 19th century setting.

Fun, but glitchy as heck. Its easy to learn, play, and get addicted to. The only problem is that, its very glitchy. I had to delete the game and reinstall several times for the game to work. I tried to start a larger battle, but the game froze and wouldnt load no matter what. Still fun tho, just a little buggy. 9/10 would reccomend.

Let's be clear, this and its sister-projects (Modern Age, Age of Colonization) are sensational games. The level of meticulous detail and volume of intricate affairs that must be addressed by the player as ruler of the country are exceptional. The games move quite slowly, especially at first, but that is not a strike against them - quite the opposite in fact, since anyone who gets enjoyment from this amount of depth and long-range strategic planning will find a great deal of satisfaction here.

Good core idea and decent current game, but it needs 3 things pretty badly: 1. Reasonable tutorial that actually explains the game 2. Not starting at a deficit of almost everything 3. Nerf the AI to something more reasonable, with abilities more in line with what a player can do And as a small 4th thing, no riots while the army is returning from what they just took if it is right next to you would be nice

fairly upset that I lost all of my game's progress after the recent updates! the buildings that were yet to be completed remained intact, including the army that I was building, and the territories that I've annexed. however, the number of buildings, gold, resources, population and nearly everything else that had value were wiped clean. I have been playing Kievan Rus for more than half a year, and an incredibly displeased with this :(

I'm still new in the game but I love it already...but its not too easy to learn.

Game pushes you to spend money. Hardly any tutorial. Every screen prompts to spend money. Left to try to navigate vast menus, pestered to spend money. This HAD potential but quickly ruined by lack of guidance, pestering for money and confusing navigation. Poor user interface ruins any of the other qualities it MAY have had a chance for impressing. HEY PROGRAMMER(S)! Take time to make it a good teacher, not a pesky salesman!

The game is good but it need more work on balancing the gameplay. The barbarians are too quick and my army is very slow when they are attacking the brigands. The saboteurs probability of success are very low. Everytime i send my saboteurs, they keep getting caught. Would try this game again in the future to see whether the problems have been solved.

Jak. P. Jun 11, 2019

I have paid for premium. Now every time it gets updated they make even more unplayable. Now you cant even make enough gold to maintain your army. You cant make allies. You cant do anything. All that happens is i get slammed with ads even though i paid for premium. This was an absolute waste of money. Ive been paitent and all you have done is make it look pretty, collect ad revenue, and make it less of an interesting game. Last update was a total fail.

Cha. M. Mar 16, 2022

Experience good. But on the posted you can see two different army's coming together on the battle field to fight, but after playing the game for more than 3 months, and also playing with different countries, I have never fight any wars manually but rather automatically.

Jos. E. Oct 12, 2020

I think the overall experience is awesome. It's challenging, and very creative. I'm sure it took a long time to create. All of your games are just as good. They all have the same feel, clever the way you use the same design, with different cosmetics. I gave you a 5 star because there are no games quite like this. From your president simulator to all the rest. I could rattle on how there could be improvements, but it would take away from the time and effort put forth in making the games.

Lud. R. Feb 16, 2020

Fun and historically accurate. I am impressed by the huge map spanning from Western Europe all the way to Japan, and Arctic Scandinavia to Northern Africa. Loads of factions to interact with and territories to colonize. Convert, conquer, sack, annex, fund revolutions, good policy and diplomacy options, I could go on, but I'll just say - Good game, definitely worth a download, bit of a grind unless you watch ads for gems, but it's WAY better than most mobile games in that respect. Addictive.

I like the play style of this game very much and there are a few things which you should add i mean to all of your game which is that you can change your country flag if you want to like add a custom flag or something and you should also add the feature which allows you to create your own empire form the start like not the ones which are al ready there. So please add these features the game will get more and more interesting and more addictive. Thank you

Mat. C. Jun 29, 2019

Games ok, pretty bland doing the same repetitive objectives over and over. Dont understand why other factions can make demands on you, but you cant on them? Need more things to do in game otherwise just becomes boring, new things to research, build, a family like tree, I guess my emperor can live for 200 years plus. Could be 5* but some work needs done.

Eva. B. Mar 26, 2022

There is so much wrong with this game 1. You get attacked for no reason, most times you can even defend yourself 2. It's hard to play without watching ads to get money 3. It's hard to survive as a small nation because of the Barbary tribes and bigger nations. These need to be fixed to be even slightly playable.
