Used this app for the first time today. Although it connected to my smart trainer and HRM, it never displayed my heart rate during my ride. It also didn't keep pace with my workout, the display constantly freezing until it crashed and wouldn't restart. The reason? It consumed 144GB of space on my phone, leaving with me nothing. There are much better options out there!

I've only used my new Kinetic Road Machine for about a week. The trainer itself is fine but the Kinetic Fit app is not good. In addition to the sensors on the trainer I added a heart rate sensor. Both sensors have to be manually connected to the app with each use. The training programs all require a 10 minute warm up. A Skip button is provided for this but using it disconnects both sensors. Furthermore, even when completing the 10 min warm up the app quits the program. You can't go any farther.

I have a Kinetic Trainer, so this app seemed like the obvious choice to download. I've used it for a few weeks now and would say it is good with built-in, free work outs. Where it lacks is in it's ability to quickly connect to the trainer - I usually have to launch the app 3 times before it can pick up the sensor (fresh batteries, pedaling to wake up, etc.). Additionally, it crashes if you attempt to do more than 1 workout before restarting the app. It's my go-to right now, but I expect better.

This app is required to realize the benefits of the Kinetic trainer, so it is essentially part of the whole product. The app and electronic controls for this device are so bad as to render it practically useless. The product claims are thus extremely misleading. Beware! On the positive side, mechanically the trainer is solid. My experience matches pretty much what others have said and the reviews online. But this benefit is completely overshadowed by the virtually useless electronic controls -- the app fails to provide basic control functionality. Here is my experience: First, there is no way to make the resistance harder or easier. Yup, you heard it right. This is a resistance trainer that cannot be adjusted. Kinetic support seems to think this lack is a benefit and you should only want their fancy modes, like ERG. Second, the fancy modes don't work. I have tried several rides on the app and the supposed automatic resistance adjustment just isn't doing it. For example, on a recent attempt the resistance started super easy. I shifted into my hardest gears to get any kind of workout (and the unit spins so fast it makes noise that my wife complains about). The ride profile shows the workout getting harder and easier, interval style, but nothing is happening. Then about halfway into the ride, suddenly the resistance kicks in. It becomes hard but doable, so I downshift and it behaves like a reasonable break resistance trainer. But it still isn't going up and down with the intervals. Third, they advertise that the controller works with ANT. Kinda true, but very misleading. The true part is that a Garmin unit can read speed and power from the unit. The false part is that if you use the Garmin to adjust the unit, it doesn't work. If you click for more resistance, the unit goes to maximum resistance and becomes virtually unpedalable. If you click for less resistance, it goes to zero resistance. I asked support about this, and they say that they are aware of this issue and have no plans to make it compatible. Fourth, the app is very buggy generally and has a lousy UI. It takes a lot of work to figure out how to do anything. That might be forgivable, but the app crashes every other ride or otherwise hangs. For example, it took me three or four reboots of my phone to get the app to run long enough to perform the basic calibration. Fundamentally, it seems like a solid mechanical company simply has not made it to the electronic world. Maybe this is the right product for someone. But I wanted a solid and reliable trainer that be controlled electronically. Don't be fooled like I was. The electronic control and this app is a complete disaster.

Extremely poor experience in the past few months. The app freezes less than 10 minutes into the ride. Before that it just gets slower and slower, updating the screen less and less. The app crashes very often on startup and it started taking up huge amounts of data. My phone filled up to 100% because of Kinetic taking more than 7 GB of data!!!! Get your stuff together. I'm a computer engineer and I don't see how this could have passed even basic testing.

This app is really bad. Last winter when it got cold, I recall one of the issues I had was menu items disappearing when I moved between workouts and sensors. I ended up giving up on it and just paying for Zwift. Now this winter, I get back on the trainer for the first time and I still have disappearing menus. Took me 15 minutes to get sensors connected and a menu I could use to start a workout. Then, when I left the app to answer a phone call, it took me several minutes to get the app to come back up on screen. And then, about 25 minutes into my ride, the app locked up and wouldn't come back. Had to restart my phone and lost all of my workout data. Maybe you should spend less time developing workouts for me to pay for and more time getting your app to perform really basic functions.

It's been pretty reliable for me. I don't have the subscription. I use a polar heart strap with the app. I wish there was an option to export directly to Strava, but that may be available in the subscription. We do use two different bikes with the setup, for two different riders. The one thing I find suspect is the pedal rate; not sure it's very accurate.

I want to love this app. The concept is great, features are great, just absolutely trash on the android platform. Buggy, constantly crashing and freezing. I keep thinking the next update might fix something and I quit using it for months and tried it again, worse than before. Frustrating thing is I bought the sensors and this is about the only way to utilize them. Grrr.

Absolutely terrible app. Have to manually connect to sensor each time, often it crashes in the process or the sensor doesn't show up. Really what was the point of going for the Bluetooth trainer if you can't use any of the features. Also past rides seem to be in completely random order. I don't understand how someone could make an app that is this bad. It's actually impressive how bad this is.

This is the first time I've written an app review, that is how bad this app is. It worked decently the first 6 workouts or so. After that? Absolutely awful. Keeping it synced with my trainer? Nope, not possible. Getting through an entire workout without it freezing up? Forget it, not going to happen. Just now I had to force stop the app four times to finish a single 75 minute training session, and that included restarting my phone in the hopes that might help. So done with this app. Bye bye.

There's nothing wrong with the functionality, it's just that it crashes. And I mean ALL the time. I can record my activity but, when I try to view it, Bang "stopped working". I'm on Android 9, not exactly exotic, so how did this version ever leave the test phase? The inRide sensor is pretty pointless if the data it transmits can't be used.

App layout and features are great, if only the app worked reliably. Plenty of workouts and metrics; however, it does consistently freeze shortly after starting a workout. Power, speed, etc will just freeze with the timer continuing. The r1 seems to be a great trainer so far using Zwift. It would be great to be able to utilize the kinetic app as well for all the workouts it has to offer.

ZERO stars. This is the most frustrating app I've ever used. I don't even know where to start. The Bluetooth rarely connects. I tried to subscribe to the training plan with the monthly fee and the app still said I wasn't subscribed. I've done everything I can think of to make the 'smart trainer' I purchased work. What a waste of my hard earned money. I would never ever get a Kinetic product again.

Liked the workouts and workout plans but the app has a lot of issues that need to be worked out. Other than the inRide sensor, other sensors (heart rate, cadence, speed) continually drop; confirmed not to be an issue with other apps. Only supports Bluetooth; lacks Ant+ for Android. App seems geared toward iPhone users. Curious to know if it works better for them.

I've been using this app for just over 2 years. I'm really disappointed and feel like I was conned. It never works right, loses connection with the trainer. It shuts down my phone, has been taking up between 5 and 8 gigs of space on my phone, lately. total garbage. my phone crashed because it says it has no memory because of this horrible app. betrayed.

Raj. R. Jan 2, 2019

App crashes a lot, needs long time to connect with sensors and I have trouble opening my earlier excercise data. I don't believe how much memory app is taking. On the positive side, I like training options, although I think there is space for improvement - make more training options :) RECOMMENDATION: Guys, optimize the app! It simple can't crush this badly and use this ridiculous amount of memory. It is amateurism to offer value add product (app) that doesn't add value! Please fix it

Rough app. Bad UI, struggles to connect to the sensor some times, and the necessary storage for the app is absurd. No need to take 20gb at the minimum for something that has such minimal use. Often impossible to navigate back to the workout you're in the middle of, and then if you start a second it goes back to the first workout, but your final results don't make any sense. Crashes a lot too

There is a major, repeatable bug in this app that causes it to fill up my phone's storage. The app is fine for my needs, all I really want at this point is to get on my trainer and know my power and total energy. It does that. However, the app consistently reaches a point during my workouts where it becomes basically unresponsive. After some digging and phone cleaning I found that this app had written to more than 34 of my phone's 64GB of storage, causing other apps to malfunction.

Tom. R. Dec 4, 2019

Pretty poor app. Will work for about a week before it starts freezing up during workouts and using massive amounts (20GB!) of internal storage at which point you need to reinstall. I also have a subscription but there are features which I am unable to access which I should be able to, trying results in being directed to the 'purchase a subscription' page.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. This app is completely broken. I would give a ZERO if I could. I'll start with the first of two issues that makes this app UNUSABLE. About 10 min into the workout the timer and metrics would freeze for ~10 seconds. 45 min into the workout the timer, metrics, and the whole app froze and I noticed my phone was quite hot, and I got an alarm on my phone notifying me that my phone was "dangerously low on storage capacity." This app is storing INSANE amounts of data on my phone during a workout. My storage capacity went from ~50% to 99% for a total of 32GB+ that this app is storing on the phone's hard drive. I immediately uninstalled the app, and my storage capacity went back to 50%. The second issue that makes this app unusable is MAJOR BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY ISSUES. First, the bluetooth heartrate connection goes in an out and is very spotty and you must constantly reconnect. But the major issue with this is that once you have a connection and start a workout, there is NO WAY TO RECONNECT BLUETOOTH. If you loose connection again in the middle of a workout or step too far away, you can't reconnect and must END THE WORKOUT. 0/5 DON'T DOWNLOAD

Adding back a star since they've fixed the problem with using third party speed/cadence sensors like my Wahoo Blue SC. Calibration of the inride power meter is still problematic--sometimes it works, sometimes it never gets beyond the preparation step and basically hangs the app, requiring that you stop it and maybe restart to try again. The lagging display during a workout seems to have been greatly improved, though time will tell if that lasts.

Just sits on "connecting" with the trainer. Freezes every time I finally try to update the firmware. There is a USB port on the trainer, why can't I utilize a laptop to update the firmware? Seems like the wireless hardware is extremely unreliable or the app is not really designed for their hardware. The UI is rough and I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable intuitive app for the kurt kenetic rock and roll control t6500 model.
