We have the in ear thermometer to go with this app. In general we like the thermometer, though sometimes the readings can be all over the place. Normally it's fairly accurate. My issues lie in the app. I'm not able to add additional family members. I've tried before and after updates, and even reinstalled. I add name, DOB (which then deletes the name and I have to re enter) but clicking on save/add does nothing.
Like others gave stated, It worked great for years, until now. Now all Temps are 103.5. When I tried to calibrate it, it says that my audio settings are not balanced, but they are. Now it's useless. I have a terminally ill child, so having an accurate reading is very important. Kinsa, I would like to be contacted to correct this problem.
This app worked with the device, after the updates it doesn't work at all. what's inside the box to work with Samsung Galaxy S3 and above I have an S8 it should work as it states on the box but it doesn't. Very disappointed with the phone manufacturers. I've saved all my information for my whole family on this app which I love. now I have to change it. I spoke to your customer service and I will give you a six stars. A great experience how many company I've worked with recently. Thank you!
Junk. This used to work great but now it's discontinued and isn't compatible with any new device. It sets up ok but says it's not compatible and may give wrong readings. Well it does. It gives a reading of 32° and says out of range every time. Wish they would have kept devices compatible with newer phones.
We've had the Smart Stick for 23 months. It worked fine initially, but haven't needed to use it until today, when I became ill. I tried to use it to take my temp, I discovered the product now longer supports my Galaxy S8. I had it set to update automatically, and the last update was November 7. Why would the app be updated to a phone it now longer supports? Doesn't seem right!
More frustrating than analog thermometer. Lately I have to power cycle the thermometer several times before it's ready to take a reading. My baby doesn't realize the whole sensor under the tongue process, and the kinsa isn't smart enough to wait through his chewing or talking. An analog thermometer doesn't stop trying like the kinsa does. Really disappointed with their algorithm. The app also requires keypresses/screen-taps to start another reading, which I have to take several of to average out the noise in the kinsa (sometimes it declares his temperature much lower than it actually is because it didn't wait long enough to stabilize). I'm sure the device hardware is fine, like most other modern problems the software is the issue.
Very upsetting to find that my Kinsa Smartstick worked just fine a few months ago and now it doesn't. I've not changed phones, I've not changed the settings on my device. I'm just disappointed that when I needed it most, I had to go out and possibly putting others at risk.
So far works smooth with S8 or OnePlus 6T and they are always updated. I see allot of connection issues and believe you may need to adjust time settings and Bluetooth connection availability to be found. If it could be downloaded in app stores in other countries it would be more useful. My wife and I can't get her Iphone to download it. So I'll give her a US 600$ phone to keep and install Kinsa app. It doesn't need to be In foreign language but it is not available overseas.
i have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the device won't work. In theory the whole thing seems cool, but I'm a little confused as to why it's not compatible with a samsung devive. Iphones and Samsung's are BY FAR the most popular phone's on the market, yet you're out of luck if you own a Samsung. This was given to us as a gift and at this point it's worthless. Hopefully "Kinsa" figures out what their issue is and has the device compatible with Android soon. Go buy a regular $10 thermometer.
super irritated that after only a few days it stopped connecting to the app 😐. $30 for a thermometer that doesnt work the way it should?? and to top it off, it randomly switched to celcius and i cant get it to change back. it also has more error readings than true ones.
We received this thermometer about 3 or 4 years ago as part of a test group. I LOVE this thing. I very rarely venture over to actually do a review, but this one makes it a lot easier to keep up with diffrent people's symptoms, and temperatures. Puts your mind at ease and makes it easier to pass the information on to the doctor when necessary.
Great when it works! Beware though app isn't compatible wit all phones if u don't a new up tondste phone prob wpnt get accuratebteading if any at all. when I do use my newer galaxyit works but I have to redo the setup almost every time... then there's various errors while trying to take the temp and I end having to take my child's temp multiple times to get an avg of what it really is I do however love the how and information that comes with the app .... but that's only when it works
So far so good in functionality, but there are 2 bugs in the profile set up that I have found in 10 minutes of use, I am about to be 35 years old (2 days apart) but the app shows me as 35 years old already which is not big deal but a bug after all, the other bug is when I put the year with my keyboard as 1979 and save the profile it saved 2019 instead and put my wife's age as 6 months old, I am wonder what other bugs this app is hidding and if any of these will interfer with the app readings.
my child brought me a flyer from her school so I wanted to check out the app and see what all it does. WOW...wish I had this app years ago. The school flyer was a promotional flyer and i missed it i believe. I will have to budget for a thermometer to match this app. The app is very easy to navigate, looks sleek, and you do not have to dig for what your looking for. Impressed.
Freezes up after taking temperature, then the symptom screen flashes and disappears. This makes the profiles feature pretty much useless. It is especially important for this app to work right now during the pandemic, but alas, it's a buggy mess. Fix it, Kinisa
I don't own a Kinsa thermometer, but I saw them talking about this on the morning news and I wanted to try the app before I purchase the thermometer. I am very impressed with how easy and informative this app is. I love that they give you suggestions for at home care and I think it's great that you don't have to own their thermometer to use their app (you can manually enter the temperature). I will definitely be purchasing their product as soon as I can afford to.
Super glitchy, I had to restart the app twice in order for it to read my temperature. First temp was 97° second was 99° so it measured a 2 degree spike in less than 5 minutes? Also, my mom bought the Thermometer not knowing you need the app to actually take your temp, so Kinsa should probably make that a bit more clear on the packaging
I'm a licensed in home child care provider and thought this would be great for my daycare, however, the app will not let me add any more children! I enter name, then when setting DOB the name is deleted. I have tried several times and it absolutely will not add another child. It will only let me have one profile! Great idea, poor execution!
I updated the app, and my entire history is now gone. So don't rely on it to keep any essential records. As far as i can tell, there's now way to save your data as a backup or otherwise sync it and no way to restore anything either.
I love how it documents your symptoms. This has been especially great with our baby when he has a cold. It is really helpful to be able to look back on every temp reading, along with the symptoms I mark down for that time. Overall, impressed!
I haven't needed to use my device for a while, but when I tried to do so this morning, I was greeted by an idiotic "chat" thing with a "virtual assistant" seeking personal information, and could not be skipped past. Like, are you kidding me with this?! I just want to use my medical device! That should always immediately be one of the top-level options upon opening the application, and it's unacceptable that it isn't. I'll be throwing this thing away now.
Pretty neat, but missing simple intuitive features. The quality of the thermometer is A+. But the app is missing some basic features. For example, when there's an error reading, there's no "retry" button or anything like that. But my biggest complaint is that it doesn't have a way to sync or even share profiles and/or activities between devices. I really don't see how this was missed. Hopefully they fix this.
