KMOV News St. Louis

I don't like the new app. It just keeps stopping and has too many ads. On my firestick it keeps getting stuck in the screen. The old app you could watch the latest edition of the news as many times as you want, up until the next time segment started. Now after a certain amount of time, it keeps playing the annoying media company ad over and over again. Wish it would get changed back to the old app.

I always had trouble getting the app to open. After the update, for about 2 days, it was great. I could get the weather easily and had the 10 day forecast. Now, if I get it to open, all you get is one blurb and the 7 day forecast. The rest is ads or links to articles which seem sensationalized. I stopped trying to open up the actual news part. All I got was spinning.

Update 4/23/22: After uninstalling the app because I was disappointed with it in 2019, I decided to give it another go. Big mistake. Takes forever to open or else doesn't open at all, and then it's hard to read because any kind of adjustment, so just trying to enlarge it or move up and down, often causes the article to just go away. I used to like this app, but it suddenly became so slow it wouldn't open. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling , but still extremely slow. Too many ads as well.

Previous iteration of the app was far superior. Much easier to get to the news and especially navigation of weather. I understand the need for advertising but the level of click bait and embedded advertising is horrendous. The app went from practical to useless with the refresh. The UX designer on this either was told they didn't have a say or didn't get customer input on the beta.

New and improved? New yes, improved no. Main screen comes on fine, but if I tap on weather or news etc, it just loads and loads, never showing anything. It worked for about 2 days and I hated it. I've watched news 4 my entire life (I'm 44) and originally downloaded the weather app which u got rid of. Why get rid of something that was great and then ruin the only other option we have?! I will be deleting this app. I only watch news 4, so I won't have any other apps for weather. Thanks.

The live broadcast feature for the 10 PM weeknight newscast (or the replay of a prior 10 PM live newscast) always skips the Sports segment. Whenever the commercial break is concluded and the Sports report is being introduced, then the display reverts to "We'll Be Right Back!" Then after a long pause when the live broadcast resumes the Sports report has just ended. Uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app changes nothing of this pattern. I'm curious if other users have this same issue?

I always followed KMOV since the Julius Hunter and Larry Connors days. I've used this app for a few years. The recent update sends multiple notifications for the same event. The weather notifications don't even come in. And the app never opens when I'm clicking on the notification or just trying to open the app from my home screen. Thanks for all the memories! I'm uninstalling...

KMOV ARE YOU EVEN READING THESE REVIEWS?! Ever since this app was changed its almost impossible to open without perfect cell service. Also the radars are not as accessible as they use to be. You can't expand them at least I can't figure out how. and the interactive radar only shows the icon tabs no actual radar image. This use to be my go to app for weather and it's been ruined.

New app is horrible, it was ok until they did another update, now the weather doesn't fit on screen,to get local weather you have to go into the menu to pull it up,never had to do this before,guess I need to switch to the fox 2 app,it works perfectly. Also your app is now full of ads,when you open the weather and scroll down it's just ads,YOU TOOK A GOOD APP AND MADE IT HORRIBLE, GOOD JOB KMOV. Please read all the reviews,EVERYBODY HATES IT.

The new app is not near as user-friendly as the previous app! You cannot enlarge or zoom in on any of the radar maps the superpredictor map. And as far as new subjects it's much harder to find what you're looking for than it was on the previous app.

3/22/20 Here I am leaving another 1 star review for the updated app. I got used to the new update in 2020. I had to hit 2 icons to look at the weather--easy. The 2022 update is not functional for following the weather. 3/25/20 I do not like the new app. I prefer just the weather app. I have to click on too many areas to find the radar map that I'm used to watching during bad weather. There is no 7 day forecast to look at unless I watch the video. Having the weather app seperate made more sense.

Used to love the app but since they updated it, it takes about a minute to load which isn't great when dealing with a severe storm. Finding what I want to see is an exercise in patience and it isn't nearly as interactive or user friendly.

New APP needs serious help. AD's all over. When scrolling news articles, they go right into AD's that look like legitimate news storys. Very underhanded way to fool readers into clicking on AD's. 2nd, at times when you start app, you are presented a full screen AD that takes killing the app to get rid of AD. Only problem is you bring up the app again and the AD restarts. And some have sound. Not good for work. And now Weather takes you to radar, and thats it. Poor design kmov

I do not like the new app. I can't increase the size of weather maps. I would like a Map I can zero in on my area with warnings and option for lightning strikes.. Way too many click bait advertisements that look like news. Maybe you are still working on it?

This app is is really bad. It takes to long to watch news cast because it keeps stopping. Besides all of the ads, it doesn't broadcast a live sports segment. It will go to break and not return for four minutes until the broadcast is over. Terrible Job!

The old app was so much better! Especially the weather section. Now the regional and metro radars don't even show anything. Half the time the app doesn't open. Please go back to the old app!!!

Edited: Still one star. Now videos show up in list and look like they're loading but never start. KMOV need to find a different provider for their service. Old post: Worked for a few days now there are no kmov 4 archived news programs after 3/16.

I uninstalled after the new update. I don't like the new layout - I liked it better before. ETA for 3/2022: I had reinstalled because it was the only St Louis news app with a decent weather page. With the newest update, it's now awkward and difficult to navigate, and when clicking the weather section, instead of seeing at a brief glance the weather, I get confronted with the metrologist's face. It's a pity because I like KMOV best for weather and news.

Original app was easy to use, could get news and weather. New version does not show same weather breakdown and news isn't that good

I just want weather notifications and i already didn't like that they got rid off the weather app and merged it with the news. Now they updated it and the settings tell me to get the weather app for weather notifications. But there is none!

App keeps telling me it does not exist on the first time opening it. Second try and it will usually open but not the last 2 days so I deleted and reinstalled. Stop with the false headings and BS news. We need accurate and true news, not one sided.

I enjoy the app but it isn't allowing me to share it on Facebook. I share a lot on my news feed to make the public aware and possibly to get people to get the app.

Harder to navigate and find what you want. Especially weather. Ads pop up like news stories. This is in your live broadcast too. I'm done!!! Going to Uninstall now.

Everytime I open this app, it's gotten worse. It shouldn't take 3 to 4 taps and searching to get to weather. Hire a new developer please. I used to love your app and station but fox 2 has a better both now, just sayin.

More and more ads. Less pertinent information. Not an upgrade. Too many clicks needed, too busy. Just more ads.

Very disappointed in the new app and will be finding something else. The old app did everything you needed it to do. This one...not even close. Bring back the old one and I'll install.

I liked the old layout better. This one is just different and I'm not that great with change. The app itself is good and reliable. Just don't like how they updated it.

Don't like the new update that when you click on the weather section...It goes straight to radar. Also don't like that the 24/48 hours n 10 day forecast is side by side rather than showing the hours n days going down

This new app is a big step down. I am unable to see live news and the VuIt for past news broadcasts leaves something to be desired.
