Knitting and Crochet Buddy
Knitting Buddy isn't your standard knitting row counter -
- it is a true knitting and crochet project tracker. Here are more details about the features of Knitting Buddy:
MULTIPLE PROJECT SUPPORT: No limit to the number of knitting or crochet projects that you can track. Each project has individualized settings.
ROW COUNTER: Track the current row of your knitting or crochet project. The row numbers are displayed nice and big on the main page. Increase (or decrease) the row number by pushing on an actual "button" on a knit background.
REPEAT COUNTER: Track the current repeat row, and optionally link the repeat counter to the row counter. You can specify the number of repeat rows on the project settings page.
DISPLAY PATTERN: Take a screen shot of your knitting pattern and display it on the main project page. This feature is super handy as it eliminates the need to switch between applications or to carry a paper copy of your pattern.
NEEDLE TRACKER / LOG: Track all of your knitting needles. The log displays US, metric, and UK sizes, and allows you to track needle length, material, type, and whether or not the needle is in use.
PROJECT TIMER: Ever wonder how long it actually takes to complete a knitting or crochet project? Use the project timer to track the time it takes to complete each project. Each project has an individual timer that must be manually started/stopped.
RULER: Tired of carrying a separate ruler for to check your tension? Use the ruler feature to make sure that your tension is just right.
NOTES PAGE: Track all of the project's notes, such as yarn, yarn weight, needles, gauge, and other notes. Please email the developer if you have additional items that you would like to track!
GLOBAL and PROJECT SETTINGS: Completely customize your Knitting Buddy experience. The screen can be tailored to according to your preferences, such as showing or hiding features such as repeat rows, knitting pattern, project timer, and project progress.
TRACK PROGRESS: Set the total number of rows for your knitting project, and Knitting Buddy will track your percent complete.
ADD IMAGES / PHOTOGRAPHS: Take pictures of your project at various phases to remember what the project looked like at various stages. Add notes about each image and view the images directly from the app. You can also add screenshots of your patterns that can be viewed from the project page.
FLASHLIGHT: Turn your devices camera into a flashlight to help find difficult stitches.
PRO SUBSCRIPTION: Remove all of the ads from the application and allows you to change the style of your project theme.
CHANGE PROJECT THEME: Change between the standard buttons and more colorful flowers, hearts, and shamrocks.
KNITTING NEEDLE AND CROCHET HOOK SIZE CHARTS: Convert needle sizes between metric, U.S. sizes, and U.K. sizes and crochet hooks between metric, numeric, and letter.
ABBREVIATIONS: Look up abbreviations commonly used in knitting and crochet patterns.
YARN CHARTS: Helpful data to convert different sizes of yarn.
SOCK CHARTS: Common foot sixes for men, women, and children!

NEEDS UPDATES!!! This app hasn't been updated in 3 years. 2017 was the last time. It would be very nice if it had an option for the brand of hook and an ergonomic option. For example I have standard aluminum Boye hooks and ergonomic ones. I have clover soft touch and clover amour. Yes I can add that in the notes but it doesn't appear on the main screen. For the yarn stash a UPC scanner/ reader would be extremely helpful and a very big time saver & option to create a shopping list from the stash.
Feels just a little unpolished in places (the crochet hook sizes drop-down when adding hooks is a mess if you're not adding standard sizes, and I wish you could just tap the 'in use' light to toggle which hooks are in use without thing into the hook's settings every time) but overall a solid app and a useful reference! Also, that little mascot? Love that dude. Very cute.
My favorite row counting app. I love that I can import my pattern and follow it along with my rows. I love all of the tools that come with it (a ruler, increase calculator). I love how easy it is to set my repeats and that it counts that separately from my rows. Now I just need an easier integration from the cloud to make importing my pattern even easier, but that's just a fussy extra.
I have installed this app on my iPad, but now I'm no longer able to open the app. All my work projects and notes were on it, so I'm very disappointed. I will have to start saving new notes etc on my phone and hope this one will stay on Android. (I will be keeping notes on paper as well - just incase)!!!
Hi there, Knitting Buddy's pop-up message is telling me "This app was built for an older version of Android and may not work properly. Try checking for updates, or contact the developer". At the time of purchase I did select the lifetime option, so how do I get my Android and your app to work together? Have there been any updates since 2017? Thank you.
This app is useful but needs to sync and update projects across all devices. I find it not very useful because of this issue. Also lost all of my previous content due to update of app. I have the pro version.
This is the BEST app for crocheting that I've found!! It literally has EVERYTHING that you could possibly need! The layout is super convenient, the row counter is great, and the Buddy Jumper game is even very fun! I cannot say enough great things about this app!! No complaints at all!! If you crochet, or knit, you definitely need this app!
Disappointed in the lack of features compared to other apps. The PDFs still don't work properly, and most of my projects need more than one row counter. Overall a very simplistic app, but not what I need.
First of all, if I had noticed there hadn't been any updates since January 2017 I wouldn't even have bothered. Apparently, the developer can't be bothered either. Secondly, I could find no way of actually importing a pattern either manually or via download. I don't need something that will only count stitches. I want to see the pattern also! Wasted time! So, the developer responded...FOUR MONTHS after my review. Obviously my statement that they don't bother with updates was correct.
So far I am finding this Application is EXACTLY what I needed. The prep work was a bit more than I expected, but I am naturally disorganized. Making sure I am not overextending my supplies and myself is addressed efficiently. Having the ability to "schedule" my projects is becoming a big eye-opener for just how much time I am actually devoting to my projects. At the moment I don't have enough time to expound on all of the delights in this application. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you for the for KB2 info! I have downloaded the new app. Looking forward to using it! I still love this app. I can store everything on it. Yarns, needles, projects; I have not reached my limits yet. I love this app. It helps me on most every project. Calculating an evenly spaced increase is SO handy. No scribbling or trying to figure it out when I approach the increase row. I use the app and before I cast on, I already know how and where to do the adjustments! Thank you!!
this is the best out there. my wish list is huge but most of them are probably impossible so am more than happy with it as it is. just take the time to put all your info into the notes sections and you'll have everything you need and always be able to find what you've done. really well done and thanks. ps. didn't give 5 stars because nothing's perfect.
Love it. The only thing that would make it better is if I could change the order of my projects. It has a filter to show only the projects you want, but I would love to be able to put my current projects closer together so when the filter doesn't work.
I'm disappointed that there is no chart writer feature. It would have been awesome... the game is dumb; otherwise its nice to have a needle and yarn inventory when shopping.
Disappointing! Got this app to specifically be able to upload my pdf patterns. I did everything as instructed, but the patterns dont show up And I even paid for the upgrade 😢
I am happy with this app. No more buying the same hook size because I can't remember if I have it. Also taking pics of my projects and the project meter are a great help to me.
why is there no save button. not for the first time, I have lost detailed extensive notes on a custom lace sock that can only be rewritten by knitting the sock again. PISSED OFF FOR THE LAST TIME!!

i love it but i wish there was a way to sign in so i can access my projects from different devices. my old phone broke and i cant get my data back

I have been really happy with this app, and now there is a new one which so far seems to be an improvement. If anyone is having a problem with exporting their data from this app, I would recommend that instead of saving to Google drive which seems to do nothing, email the data to yourself. This worked for me and meant I didn't have to write in all my data again
