I like the app overall. There's a large selection of books, which is great, but I find the audiobooks section brings it down. The selection is okay, but I find searching for new audiobooks in the store cumbersome and a crucial thing is missing from a LOT of audiobooks: a free sample. It's really important for me to know what the narrator sounds like, so not having that sample means I simply don't buy those audiobooks, which greatly reduces the catalogue.
I have only been able to read the begining of a book 📚. I love the start and am very excited to finish it 😄. To be honest though I wish that the app would show two pages at a time so it is faster and the reader doesn't have to be constantly turning one page 📄 after the other. Just being able to read two and then changing the page. That is my opinion on the app being better. But idk 😐.
Good selection, never encountered technical problems, and most importantly, buying here doesn't give money to Beff Jezos, so it's my go-to for ebook purchases. I can't give a higher rating, though, until the app allows for adjusting line spacing. The text in available presets is cramped so tight that I have trouble finishing a page, and in an app designed for reading, poor customization options are a huge drawback. Please let readers better adjust the text to their needs :(
Firstly the pros, it has paypal! And that alone pleased me. The user interface was clean and simple too. Also they allowed saving of payment details making it so streamline although it still lacks a cart option so I can buy more than 1 at a time. Downloading multiple titles can be buggy and slow but if it's one at a time it still works without issue.
Having problem with the book I'm reading right now, won't load on properly or freeze all of a sudden while changing page. I have even change book, no problem at all. I've tried to mark as read, then close the application and try to download again, didn't work.
Generally ok, but there are two annoying problems. Accessing the notes within the text of a book is rediculously slow, I've timed it at 11 seconds in my current book. When accessing important sections of text that I've highlighted, in the annotations menu, I find it has created multiple duplications of the highlighted entries.
Works well as might expect, however there are some issues. Con: The app can sometimes lock up when the screen rotates. If you hadn't bookmarked your page by that point and after having restarted the app you will have lost your place, which is frustrating. Pro: The Kobo Catalog has books that Amazon does not. Overall I'm happy with the app, thanks.
I've always resisted e books, but I've been reading short stories i couldn't get physical copies of, and I'm actually really enjoying it. Kobo is intuitive to use, and has more in depth feature like notes, dictionary, and quote sharing. I maybe a convert
The app needs a tutorial. And it could really use a better library search function. That said, I like the collections tab and marking books read is easy. Now I need to figure out how to keep the page from timing out while I'm reading.
The app is so bad I would like to leave Kobo rather sooner than later, I just haven't found an alternative yet. Navigation within books is bad and unintuitive, turning a page can sometimes take ages, and the highlighting function is quite broken.
My books open on the same chapter whether I have read it or not. Even if j don't close the app and go back to reading it moves to the same chapter. Each book is a different chapter. It's very irritating. Placing a bookmark (electronic of course) doesn't make any difference.
Each time I switch back to this app it seems to consume about 20MB of mobile data (since i mostly read in places with no wifi). I already have my e-books downloaded and I don't know why this app still consume so much data. The Kindle app barely consumes any. I'm using another app till this is fixed.
Web-based only now!!. Completely useless in subways and data-expensive where WiFi is unavailable. A huge step backwards in terms of accessibility and affordability!! I only use it to purchase and download books, and to manage my library. I read my books on a third-party app now.
update: now even more titles wont download at all. and no one on kobo team can fix this. i cancelled my subscription. why does it take over an hour to download each audiobook? they just don't download quickly, and will stop completely if you leave the app and do something else. I'd like to keep being a member of the club, but if there is no solution to this, well...
Great stories. Very clear text. Good pictures. It remembers where you left the text. The user interface is not the most intuitive. Nevertheless, I love the stories and how easy the app makes reading
Love it! I love reading but with work and school runs I barely meet library opening times. Kindle or eReaders are rather costly and I can't justify spending that much money. This app is so easy to use and just simply remarkable. Thank you.
Excellent. Easy to use, many great features with access to plenty of great books to read on it including free and inexpensive books. Often memorable sales. Try looking up classic titles or the Harvard Classics then you will be smiling.
It's a bit of pain searching for epub files on the hard drive. You have to select each one individually. Before you could just search epub and it would bring up all the epub files on the drive, then you could bring them all into the program at the same time. It was way easier.
Great for the environment. No need to cut down trees to make paper for books! And very convenient for saving space for physical books. I can carry as many as I can on my Samsung tablet and not having to continuously be buying book cases or book shelves to store them in. All the books are at the palm of my hands.
Consistent problems syncing chapters between desktop and mobile; half the time I close a book, it doesn't save my last spot; and I can't expand the synopsis on any book in the story. Good service, terrible app.
First time I got a book on here everything was fine, no problems with reading to the end. Got another book and read maybe half a chapter then closed it. Went back in and couldn't find it, spent over a hour trying to get/open my book and it wanted me to buy it all over again. Stupid app., when it's out of wack, it's very bad
I really like Kobo and their e-readers and would give them and their products five stars, but as far as the app goes the loading bar can be a little misleading, telling me the page has loaded when it hasn't, and it can take a little while for the page to load in. Usually it's pretty good though.
Love my Kobo Aura. I enjoy looking through new books using the app.no problems using the app. Have recently replaced the Aura with the Nia (Aura nearly 7.5 yrs old). Again enjoying my new Kobo product...only gripe is the on/off button, prefer the slider on my Aura easier for my arthritic hands.
I find that adding books to my library and into collections to be cumbersome. I would also like to have some means of a custom sort, say by year of publication, so that books can be read in chronological order.
Slow to turn pages. Bookmark feature needs work. However, i was able to read the book i wanted to read so all in all i give it a solid mid-range rating.
Convenient way to pick up books before they physically release or actually hit shelves Had some issues with my place in a book being reset but it is pretty easy to navigate back depending on the book and if you remember to tab the page even more so
As an avid reader, this app was very promising to me as another source of awesome reads. However, the app is very laggy. It freezes most of the time on both my phone and tablet. There is also very limited customization options on reading format. For example, it does not have an option to indent paragraphs and add spaces to each line on the book you're reading, I think it adds to eye strain. Also, please do impose very strict proofreading and editing of the books available and sold in the app
It has been a decent app so far but I have 2 issues: 1 in the latest book I'm reading it has 2 images side by side, one is landscape and the other is portrait. They both are put onto the same page and the second image is cut off towards the bottom which is shifted to the next page. Not a very pleasing visual experience. My other issue is that there appears to be no text justify option. Annoyingly the text of a new sentence always appears to be shifted towards the right and I cannot change it
Good app, does what it says on the tin.. I can pull up and read my Indigo books. Have one tiny gripe, I wish I could change the line height (spacing) as I don't like the text to be large but it is much easier to read when the lines are further apart. Can do this on other ebook apps, would love to do it here. Otherwise five stars, never had an issue and still have all my books no matter what device I'm on.
I REALLY wish we could see progress by page or percent for the entire book, not the chapter. The ability to highlight is also insanely broken. You'll try to highlight one paragraph and another highlights instead. If you go to your annotations page and click on something you have highlighted, it'll take you to a different one. I take a lot of notes when I read and this is immensely frustrating.
