KODAK Mobile Film Scanner

I've read people saying that does not work and they give it one star. I am a professional photographer and I used this scanner to scan slides 20 of them 40 years old! Most 30 years old altogether 300 slides. It worked like a dream...quality was incredible and the editing program that comes with the software very handy and very good. The slides have bffgeen weighing on me for years ad I did not want to send out any 40 year old slides(insured or not) to a service that digitalizes slides. Amazing !

It can be a good scanner if there is more detailed instructions on how to take advantage of all the features that come with the app. It does not crop automatically, you have to do it by hand using the app. Cannot switch the camera on Notes-10 to close up. sometime it is on the close up camera but not sure how to make it permanent.. The picture taken is not the same size seen on the camera screen. Should have line indicator where the picture is outside the capture area. Tapping the screen to keep in focus helps.

Magical. Turns negatives into pictures you can view on the screen of your phone. Negatives require light to be shone through the back. I initially used a mobile phone screen with a white background and whilst this was fine the pictures were pixilated. What worked the best was the side of a frosted like lampshade. Once in focus you can zoom in or out. Can save to your photo gallery. Great app.

If like me all you want is something to invert the colours from a photographic negative, this app perform that function but wraps it up in a very basic camera/editor app which means that you can't use the superior quality images captured on your phone's built-in camera app. And then it has a "share" button which doesn't seem to include a "save to device" option.

The colors are inaccurate, blue tint persist. Tons of quiete useless filters, making scan even worse. No standard cropping aspect ratio 2:3.

I have tried several different negative scanner or image capturing apps and this one from Kodak is by far the best. Not only does it do everything that all the other apps do but it does it much better and has a few things the others don't. The UI is much more intuitive than other apps I have tried. how can you miss the price is right also.

Great app. Way to go Kodak!!! Giving back to the community like you have for years. App works great. Allows you to see old negatives and improve quality. No ads. You can create and save then go print if you wish or allow you to see and then decide if you want to bring to pro Photo shop to print instead of wasting money on photos you do not want or may already have.

A highly functional app that nobody with old negatives should be without. When used as directed, the results produced are impressive. Bring those old pictures back!

I just downloaded this app and tried converting black and white negatives into positive pictures. The results were v good as you also have an editor for contrast etc. As yet to try colour negatives. 👍

An Excellent App to scan any size of Color or B&W films to digitise old films incl 35 , 8 , 110 mm Negatives.. I have scanned many 70+ year old negatives to digitise and Great App. Hardly takes about 2-4 second to capture a Frame ..

There's no instruction of how to scan a negative, edit, save. Randomly holding negative with one hand but it's moving around in the air whilst holding phone in other hand and guess when it's lined up. There's no editing and doesn't save anything. Lack of options with no instructions suggests not user friendly.

Using this app with the cardboard mobile film scanner. It works as advertised with my smartphone. App will crop and rotate as needed. Don't love the filters but that is my preference. Colors are only ok but planning to bring into computer for better editing. No ads in app.

Just a live camera with negative filter on. I want to scan photos/negatives then I can do it easily with native camera 2times zoom where the reflections don't show up on negative surfaces. Later I can just edit the pic to turn negative into positive. Why the heck I use this kodak software which doesn't auto crop nor has the functionality to correct the perspective.... remember I am scanning on mobile and it won't always be a perfect rectangle.

I believe this software is better than what's showing in the rating. It should get easily 4.5 rating if not 5. I am loving it, at first it is difficult to understand and control but once you try to get control of it then only it will bring better results. I am happy with it. Well done KODAK

Works really poorly for me, I fixed myself a jig to have a good backlight behind negatives but the auto settings of the camera do a pretty bad job at adjusting contrast and luminosity and there doesn't seem to be any way to manually override it. Also, crop options don't include a 3:2 aspect ratio preset which is pretty ironic for an app pushed by the biggest film manufacturer in the world. Overall I actually find it easier to rely on my stock camera app and an external app than use this.

I am using Letv mobile, I downloaded this app with lot of enthusiasm reading through the reviews.Unfortunately when I tried to scan a positive but every time the apps shuts down automatically when the photo is captured.Though I haven't tried with the negative.I tried several times to capture the photo but all are in vain.I further uninstalled and reinstalled the app to fix the problem but every thing were in vain.Please fix it up to get 5*.Awaiting your response.

A bit fiddly to set up and use for best results, but very happy with what it produces for free. Support smart phone on top of a camera tripod or similar to keep it steady

Very good app for black and white negative . For colour it is easily affected by ambiance light (i.e. colour cast on the picture) although it has filters but in my openion there should be white balancing option should be there. Otherwise app is good

Sorted out some old negatives with ease. Used an old phone set with a white screen. Used another phone with this software. Placed the negs on the back lit white screen. Results good but may need cropping.

Not sure what this app is supposed to do. I was sent a video where a b/w photo negative was scanned and it turned positive in the phone. When I tried, it remained the same and it did not turn into a positive.

A few trial scans made. Big problem with scans coming out very blue, especially landscapes. People a bit better. Using small led lightbox and Samsung A3. Also, please identify filters so particular one can be re-found.

It doesn't compare to a real film scanner, but it does excellent previews for your developed films in a simple and efficient way.

Wonderful App.i was able to view my father's pic 70 yrs old negative very clearly. Thanks Kodak.

Very disappointed with this "Kodak" app. I was expecting to be able to scan my negatives but instead it's a photo app with a negative filter turned on. At least I can view the negatives.

I have installed this application in three different Android phones and it crashed, whenever I wanted to use its editting features. It only works on iphone.

I am not able to use this app because whenever I try to take a picture, the app zooms it out. Doesn't take picture the way and size it is shown in the app screen. It kind of ruins everything!

No control over white balance and the only way to see proper rendering of colors is to put phone camera So close to negative that it's out of focus. Super Disappointed

It could be perfect if it had an import image function. An already scanned negative will have much better quality.

an interesting app. I would love to see a Contrast Filter feature simular to those used in the darkroom in the next version.
