Kodak support responded quickly to my issue with constant popups from the smart home app. Apparently you cannot run this app in the background without popups until they resolve the issue hopefully in a future update.
Kodak is the only brand out there whose cameras do not get hacked by creepy humans who get off on scaring little children (I've tried hard to Google such instances with Kodak. I can't find one). So for that reason alone, Kodak should be the go-to company. But where Kodak have clearly pumped a lot of money into cybersecurity, it is clear (as has been pointed out by many others on here) that money has perhaps not been invested in other features. But I would still recommend Kodak every time.
This app is so unreliable. I wouldnt bother buying Kodak because there's always problems. Whenever there is not an issue, Kodak manage to launch an update which breaks or messes something up. Since the last update I have to keep pressing continue view every 5 mins otherwise you can't view on mobile (even when on same network). AVOID!!
Using this for 2 years. It's.... ok. Definitely used worse apps, and the functionality is there, but just feels like it could be way better. This probably isn't helped by the Nov/Dec 2021 disaster bug where you couldn't use it on mobile data - only on WiFi. Took a disgracefully long time for Kodak to patch this. Really soured my opinion of the brand and it'll take some work for them to repair that. It really does need a bit of polishing on Android... they could start there.
Photos taken from portable view unit is not found in gallery. App load up is slow. Takes time to connect to camera. Melody function is not found in app? Have to use portable view unit. Connection is slow, can't view video once detect movement. Tried closing and opening app. Still can't see. The app interface feels a bit messy. Feels more like a security cam rather a babycam.
Update 12-14, app still crashing unless I'm on wifi, please fix asap! Update 12-11-21, constantly crashes, won't let me view any cameras. Only works occasionally. I have a super open concept house with 2 wireless access points and 1 of them being right outside the babies bedrooms plus I have top of the line internet speeds. Needs better connectivity.
Great app. Great support. I asked for a dark theme. Next update it was there
The app works flawlessly on WiFi network but I am unable to view the camera feed on 4G mobile network. I have tried enabling/disabling "preview on mobile network" also tried reinstalling the app but had no luck. I had no problems on previous versions. I would be obliged if you can fix this problem. Update: The app is working flawlessly on WiFi and 4G LTE now. Thankyou soo much for fixing it :)
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes have to reinstall to get it to work. Sometimes reinstalling does nothing. It's fairly shoddy to be blunt. I wouldn't recommend any Kodak camera equipment (whoever makes it for them) had no ends of issues with the whole system from the beginning. Support is next to useless too.
I was ready to accept the clunky app because the hardware is generally quite good. However, I have had to perform factory resets twice on the PU and have had firmware update issues where the device just gets stuck during update cycle. Still I was happy to continue with the device as it works well, when working. However they have just introduced a pointless 5 minute limit to how long you can watch video feed on mobile, forcing you to use PU and making the app useless for extended periods. Why???
Overall experience is great. Main issue is when saving recorded video files, the whole file is not fully playable. First half of the video works correctly, the second half audio works but visuals freeze on a frame as if it gets stuck
After the last update I can't connect to the camera via app. Neither through Wi-Fi, nor through mobile data.
All of a sudden the app started crashing. Not sure if it was an app update that caused it. Tried to open the live feed of camera and the app just closes. Please fix it!
While the video it's recorded at 15fps, it's not done correctly. When playing it, the video goes at 30fps which means that doubles the original speed while the audio plays fine so you end with a video of 1 minute but 2 minutes of audio completely unsynced. This has been happening since I bought my cherish camera and it seems that Kodak does not wants to fix it. Even playing the video on computer still plays wrongly because the header of the video files isn't correctly written.
