current status: getting overly emotional because of the color change. In all seriousness though, this app is incredible if you are trying to learn Korean. Not only is it easily the best Korean dictionary you can find online, but it also provides you with many more useful functions such as the Papago translator (although there is also a separate app), vocabulary lists for TOPIK and so on. There are some bugs but those can be easily forgiven considering the usefulness of this app
This app is amazing. It's like a few apps in one single app. It's 100% free and it has a lot of listening, reading and writing exercises it also helps a lot with studying for the topic exam. It's also really easy to look up some words on the app and it gives you a lot of examples and makes everything clear. It has no ads and it's really organized and useful. 100% recommend.
I had this app to study Korean and now I'll have to switch to the 다음 dictionary. I have no idea why Naver changed to EN-EN when a large number of users needed and wanted to use it for EN-한/한-EN. Even if I uninstall and reinstall and select 한 it still only allows me to use EN-EN which is really frustrating. Please change back. There are enough EN dictionaries.
This app is the result of Naver changing from the original that I was using. Its content is far worse than the original one. It promote konglish even more than the original does and genuinely reflects the growth of a new and distorted language that is neither Korean or English. I recommend returning to previous version.
This app is very convenient and very easy and useful. I don't have any problem with this app except the naver sign up problem...no matter how many times I try to signup i couldn't get the signup page...how many ways i search in internet and all ..i couldn't signup to naver account!!!
How do we change this to use as Korean dictionary? Earlier it was very useful and good. But now unable to use it as Korean dictionary, it works only as English dictionary
The new UI is not as friendly as the previous one and it seems the default is now an Eng-Eng dictionary =/... To change it back to Kor-Eng, the fastest way is to uninstall then reinstall and at the opening screen, set it to Kor-Eng. Hope this helps other users!
My wordbooks that I built over multiple years were all suddenly deleted recently. The bloat has become too much and the UI is hard to navigate. It used to be a good app.
Visual garbage. I spend 20 minutes trying to translate a word, bud unsuccessfully. I dont know, how to do it. The only way was switching to Papago, but that is translator, which moreover does not show latin transliteration, i.e., useless.
Used this app for almost a decade and suddenly can't locate the English -> Korean function (despite setting "Korean" as the "learning language"). So frustrating.
Literally the worst UX I've ever seen in my life. Try adding a specific dictionary to the home screen and have it be readily available. And it's a shame because the offerings are great, but you just can't access them. Lol smh!
Amazing app! I can search any Korean word in the dictionary, translate in Papago if I need help with a sentence, and I love how they have daily K-drama learning videos, listening practice, quizzes, and recipes! So much content to learn with. I kind of wish it had a daily reading section where you could focus on reading paragraphs, but it's not a big deal considering all of the content you have access to. If you're learning Korean, YOU NEED THIS APP! I use it everyday. You won't be disappointed.
So far it was all good, the best dictionary app ever. My fav function was the word book! But now I see some kind of glitch. There had been an update on word book function and sometimes it is the new version and sometimes it is the old one. The problem is that I thought I saved it, but if the vocabulary was saved in old ver, it doesnt show on the new version, which is very confusing. I like the new one and I get it why Naver kept the old version(because they are not convertible 100%).
The search results were fine until a few weeks ago. Since then the search results have been inaccurate. If i search for a noun, the search results show word combinations for said noun, except the base noun itself. In the past i would just write a word and through the automatic filling function i could see what a word means, without having to enter a word's page. Now i have too in many cases, because the results show combinations. Inconvenient and time consuming when you search up lots of words.
Good app and content. But it is overwhelmed with contents which I'm not interested in.The UI is very confusing and difficult to navigate. Page loads quite slow, but that's fine for me. Most of the time, the word suggestion is inaccurate. It would be nice if the app gives more customizability or let me set specific page as my home according to my needs.
The app itself it's good, but the layout and the fact that it's not intuitive it's a huge problem. Now that I'm used to it I can understand how it works, but when I first started I was completely lost, I don't know if was the layout, the endless options that the app kept popping at my screen or if I was just quite dumb. I think lots of people could give up on it bc it's not rlly easy to use. The rest is amazing, it's a very good app that needs to be redesigned, or a video to how to use it, lol.
Sometimes 'Unable to connect to network. Please check your network connection and try again' message still appears on the Papago page. But it doesn't seem as buggy as it used to be. Still one of the best (most accurate Korean translators). What's been removed was the really handy feature of having example sentences with the word you look up below. Please re-add this and it would be 4 stars.
I used this for korean-en and en-korean, the new layout and default english dictionary is not for me. Will give 5 stars when i can set the korean dictionary as default once again.
There's an issue with the speaking portion in the daily conversation quiz, but all things aside, the app is very good. Best app for learning Korean. App was suggested by my Korean teacher and I'm happy I took his advice.
Really intuitive and easy to customize the shortcuts and where the English-Korean dictionary is the first thing that's on my homepage when I open the app. Love the interface for the dictionary & flashcards. I also get to learn new vocab on "word/phrase of the day" and Korean cuisine. I really appreciate that there are videos to aid me in my learning progress.
There's no way to modify Favorite unless you uninstall the app and reinstall. The Settings menu is terribly unintuitive and quite useless.
Excellent features for learners of Korean language with drama lessons and guide to fluency and pronunciation too! However, there's no full dictionary download for offline use and those without internet connection or slow connection, it is a pain to use. I travel extensively and most times I am in the remote and would like to utilise the dictionary for my own practice but it's impossible. I hope Naver would consider allowing the dictionaries to be downloaded and fully functional within the Naver app for people like us who have limited access. The drama lessons are so useful to hear the correct pronunciation and the way to say it in Korean. The audio phonetic guides are also great. I gave 4 stars because of no offline function for dictionary access the way Pleco for Chinese has. Pls incorporate the offline accessibility for Korean-English-Korean dictionaries!
I am stuggling with setting the default dictionary as Korean to Hanja as that is what I am primarily going to use this app for. Instead I am forced to use English to English as my default. Naver needs to fix this.
This only works in the Kor-Eng mode. I installed it to use a variety of languages of dictionaries and this one only does a half of that job.
I've been using this dictionary for more than 2 years now with no problem but these days (august 2021) it's so difficult to even opening it. It will show only texts with no design and it wont load at all. Tried to close and open gain and still the same. Out of 15 times using this app in a day (more or less), only 2 or 3 times it opened normally.
This app was amazing before changing to an English dictionary. I used it for my Korean studies but now, there's no option to use it as a Korean dict. It was way better as a korean dictionary and I think if the company wants to have an English dictionary, please give us an option to choose what we're learning. This was a really nice app, I'm disappointed:(
Used to be the most reliable Korean dictionary, after the latest update its absolutely useless. No matter what I do it still works as an English dictionary (as if we don't have enough English dictionaries!). The website works just fine, but an app is horrible after the update. It gives you an option to use the old version though, at least thanks for that
