Kryss - The Battle of Words
The turn-based game is developed from the idea of transforming the traditional crossword solution - oldschool Scandinavian style - into a game where you compete against each other in the same crossword puzzle.
You receive five letters each turn, then strive to place the letters in the crossword within a minute. There are several ways of outscoring your opponent, including a significant bonuses for completing words, for getting key letters right or for using all your five letters within a round.
Then again: it might just pay off to keep one of the crucial letters for later use – when the stakes are higher.
Kryss has the element of randomly awarded letters in common with other classic wordgames.
But Kryss is faster, and it offers a logic and gaming experience which makes it feel like no other passtime you ever engaged in. It is pure yoga for the brain, meditation for the mind, and vocabulary training in a game, all the while being so easily accessible that it is loads of fun for both young and old.
And with the chat function you can keep in touch with your favorite aunt at the same time as teasing your best friend for being the slowest player in the known Universe.

The game itself is really good fun, I do enjoy playing it. The reason for the 1 star are the excessive ads. Someone invites you to play. 30 seconds ad. You want to invite someone. 30 seconds ad. Inbetween turns, watch an ad. The ads have an x. Pressing the x has a 75% probability of taking you to the app store or opens a browser instead of closing it & I haven't got fat thumbs. Then there is a second page to every ad. I even have to force close it sometimes when the ads get stuck.
Used to love this game, but it has become too frustrating as it is now impossible to get ahead for me this game, with me having a top 15% score, as you only ever get a few points for a win, but get double, if not triple the amount of points taken away for a loss. Will be done with this game, after my last package runs out. Developers aught to balance things out better!
It freezes on my end to make it look like both players have stopped playing and although I have more points the other player wins after they quit because it's not letting me play my next turn in the quick games. I can't do what you asked me to do. This is one of the worst games ever created. Y'all apparently don't know how to spell several words and every time I play it either freezes or kicks me off the game altogether.
This is a fun game. Not to many ads and a cool take on crosswords. The problem is, it doesn't always let you play. In the past it would open to the blue color of the game, but get stuck there. Now, you open the game and see the games you need to take your turn in, but they won't open. It just sits at that screen and occasionally appears to be refreshing, but you can't play. This is since the recent update where they added missions. Here's a mission for ya Kryss, make your game stable!
A fun game to play, if and when it actually let's you play. Very buggy, and it almost never actually launches the first time. Keeps saying no connection, and constantly has loading issues. I've actually had to uninstall and reinstall a few times just to get the game to connect correctly. The next time I have to uninstall, I'll not reinstall unless the bugs get fixed soon.
Love the game, HATE the app! The game is super fun and I love playing it with both my friends and randos. Challenging without being frustrating. However... the app is stupidly buggy. I get a notification that its my turn. I click on the app. It shows my turn on a game. I click on the game... it doesn't load. I wait for a minute and try again. Still no. So I exit the game, restart the app... only to see it say I took my turn in all my games! It shouldn' take 15 mins to make a 30 second turn work.
I really like this game and was super excited to download it. However, unlike other online board/Word games I've played, you have to do certain things to play new games (buy, watch ads, etc) and from what I can see, there's no timed refills. Maybe I'm missing something, but it took away from a great game for me.
Fun game, sadly, like the others I open the game and it isn't actually connected to their servers. Try with wifi, without wifi, in my home, outside in other places, on public wifi, and so on. It is just buggy. I've learned that if it shows zero coins then I'm not fully connected. After about 5 to 10 tries it might connect. It's frustrating.
I've been playing this game for quite a while. The update of the visuals and the added incentives has been a nice addition. However, since the update the app has been glitches. At times the games ends and declares a winner even if the game was not complete. And they have been a number of times when I begin a game a simply get the spinning wheel, which after about a minute disappears and the game does not open. Even closing and reopening the app does not always fix that.
I really enjoy the game when it works. My service is excellent yet it freezes and tells me to connect to a stable network. I do not have this issue with any of my other apps. It's very frustrating. I have also noticed I will get coins then randomly later they are gone. It doesn't seem like winning really does anything.
Game itself is great, connectivity is awful. Constantly have to restart and even then frequently multiple times. Also, there should be a minimum amount of boards as part of the game itself. Do not build enough tokens to play new games without purchase. For example - 3 standard games as part of the game. Most people play many games at a time.
fun and challenging. But why do I have to watch an ad to gain a board when I'm invited to a game? I should only have to do this when I'm doing the inviting. Stupid concept. UPDARE: Since update with all these new challenges, the only REAL challenge is getting the game to load. When I click on a game, all I get is this spinning wheel like the game is "thinking" but I can't get into the game. And all my coins suddenly disappeared.
It's fun BUT the connectivity issues are frustrating. It lags, hangs up, and then says you didn't play quickly enough. I have 5G. None of my other apps hang like this. My movies stream just fine. I can watch shows and play games at the same time without issue. I concentrate solely on this game while playing so there isn't anything else running and it LAGS! It's awful for a game with a time limit to lag like this. I takes the fun out of playing.
Loved the game until recently. Fun combo of Scrabble and crosswords. The issue is that until recently, you could get 3 free boards every 24 hours for watching ads. But suddenly, within the last few days, I can only get 2 maximum and the interface says 2/2 when maxed, but my friends and family IRL can't still get all 3 with no trouble. Would rate 5 stars but this bug makes me sad. I'm used to 3 games a day. Please help and I'll gladly give 5 stars!
Loving the actual game play however the app seems to have a glitch whereby half the time when I open the app all my coins, etc are shown at zero and I can't play any of my games; I click the game that's showing as ready to play and it just does nothing. If I shut the app down and re-open it then it usually loads up properly and works but sometimes it takes 5 or 6 goes of me shutting the app and reopening. Very very frustrating!!
I really like this game. But since the missions update, it takes a long time to load. I wait for my coins to populate and they don't. I close out go back in same thing. When I do finally get it to load correctly I keep getting connection errors saying I'm not connected to the internet. But I am and no other game has this issue. I see others are commenting the same issue so it's not my phone. Please fix. Or extend the number of days to play because it's getting really close to losing my turn.
Okay, don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game. The play is great, setup is decent, and it does offer great rewards. BUT if you pay for the "Power-ups" (which are the little extras that make game play easier, IOW cheats) be warned...the "Reveal Letter" power-up takes 2 from you instead of 1, which wastes your money. I've screen recorded multiple events and have sent them messages, but they (a) have not fixed it and it's been doing it now for 3 weeks, and (b) they are no longer emailing me back.
Game is good but the games seems rigged as the opponent has always the upper hand and you just do not get the letters you need to score big. Scoring is confusing and even you do clean sweeps you lose the game as you won a few more. Very rigged and biased. Wish if this behavior can be avoided and fair game play and random letters are provided. You can hardly win a few games and new players always seem to win the game. And again the XP level gain for new is lower unlike experienced players.
Something is wrong with the latest update! I have been playing this game for months now & all of a sudden it updated & now it only loads properly maybe 1 out of 10 times I open it, which makes it very frustrating to try and actually play. Takes forever to load & then when it finally does my coins don't show & I can't actually play, so then I have to shut ot down, force close & re-open it... maybe after doing that 10 times it finally loads right.
Customer Support is the worse. Do not expect them to truly correct a problem and they will close out the case to not allow feedback. I've written in to let them know about errors in puzzles twice and they seemed to not care. The same puzzles recycle and contain the same error. The APP hardly loads also do you'll have to keep going to your settings to empty cache and force it close to try to give it a push.
Fun, if it works right. I just lost 7 games I was playing because on my side it said it was their turn and their side said it was mine. This is happening more and more and will definitely be a reason to uninstall if this serious, game-stopping glitch isn't fixed. Not being able to play the game as designed definitely doesn't work!
The game isn't bad when it works, it has loading issues often. I'll restart the game multiple times but when I try loading a game to make my move it'll just get stuck in the loading screen. Also only being able to earn 3 boards a day by watching ads is weak. I'm sure I'll be over this game after a few
Love the game but after the last patch, have won't load unless I restart it a few times. Update 3 months later: Got a new S22 Ultra... Still have the same issue. I have to make sure nothing else is running, all notifications are read, some time restart the phone, and THENNN the game properly loads. I do want to love this game as my partner and I enjoy the competition. May need to look elsewhere 😮💨
I love the game, but the app is frustrating. I play on an android. When I try to move a letter from the bottom of the screen, it thinks I am swiping up to leave the app, and tkes me out. The playable letters should be higher up on the screen to keep this from happening.
Need improvement: 1. The game is often unbalanced. The person who commences first usually has one more turn, thus an advantage to win. The remaining letters should be equally distributed so that both persons have the same amount of rounds. 2. Once we finish a game it'd be nice to be able to go back to the board in order to study it. 3. The stats are problematic. The bug needs fixing. 4. In the quick game mode a person should lose after an unplayed round in order to not waste our time.
