The app failed to connect to the Mitsubishi units after numerous attempts over several days. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a substitute. Update: I've now been trying to connect the app with the system for a week. Shutting of the system's circuit breakers and restarting, uninstalling and re-installing the app, and assorted curses have yet to work. Mitsubishi has been closed with the holidays to I've had no luck getting through for any help. Currently I'm watching the graphics spin in the "live chat" box. If there were any substitutes, I would erase kumo cloud from my phone and my memory in an instant. Update - There has been an update to the app and it now works more as it should. This update was a big improvement.

Technology from the 80s. So buggy and flawed, horrible to use. Name of my home shows twice for no reason, and key features are missing, like the ability to set "auto mode" - both heat and cool range. It doesn't respond to Android "back" button. It hides the notification/clock for no reason. It's so terrible, I heard it was bad but I honestly didn't think it would be this bad. Even some 80s technology like MS-DOS gor job done. Mitsubishi kumo cloud does not.

Poor, clunky user interface. Almost unusable. The worst part is that the "auto" option (heat and cool according to temp) does not work. Even after you find the secret installer settings to enable it, it does not show up in half of the devices. Going back to programming using our wall unit. What a waste.

Update: many things have been fixed on the app, they still need to add more advanced controls to the units on the app because they are still basic controls, they need to add all the controls that are located on the remote, they should also add advanced menu so you can control exactly what you want units to do. Some controls they are missing, wind direction, indirect/direct,econo cool, powerful, etc...

Once your units are connected, the app works fine. Connecting the units, however, is very painful. I burned several hours today after my units were installed trying to pair them with the app. Only by reading other reviews did I see there's an issue with Android 12. So I tried using my old Android 8 device to connect and configure the units and lo and behold, they popped up immediately. Once configured, they show up in my primary Android 12 device without issue. Very frustrating.

Garbage, especially for the cost. More often than not, any changes you make in the app don't recognize (ex..system is off, you turn it on, check a few minutes later, it's still off) Response to manufacturer: I called the number multiple times, after waiting on hold, I was then transfer to the kumo cloud dept where I waited on hold for an hour (on 2 separate occasions) and then gave up. This is beyond a joke. Maybe just get your equipment to integrate with Nest or Ecobee so it actually works.

kumo cloud will not allow new wi fi service to my Galaxy s21. I am forced to use a far less efficient wi fi service. Your engineers have told me they are aware of the problem and do not have a solution. You cannot transfer your old internet service to a new internet service if you have a newer android Samsung phone. This makes your kumo service useless to any Samsung Android user. As a result of this I've had to utilize and pay for 2 internet service providers in order to have remote access.

The application will only connect about 30% of the time. I would have expected MUCH more from Mitsubishi especially considering the cost of the module. The functionality of the application is also lacking as you do not have full control like you do with the remote. My main issue is not being able to connect and it says "Zone Unavailable. Wait a few minutes...' Unacceptable, especially when it happens more often than getting connected. Upgrade the application AND upgrade your servers, please!

Works as designed. Good basic control of my h/c unit, and the ability to set schedules is very helpful. Good to be able to set fan speeds and venting options. However, the UI is clunky. The lack of response to the Android back button is very surprising. That's such a basic response to input and is something that I learned when just starting to code apps for Android. Developers should also look at the Android manifest file. My 3 year old Samsung tablet can't download app while my S10 can.

Still extremely disappointed. Clunky & outdated interface with only basic control of feature rich well-designed Mitsubishi heat pumps. Cannot control "whisper mode", vane left/right, econo cool. Alexa integration, HAHA; provides on/off & temp control only... provided unit already in correct mode. Scheduling is, OMG text based, still. With more than one unit, it's almost impossible to schedule. Hey, at least the splash screen is prettier.

Been using this app for over a year. It's just a piece of junk and Mitsubishi doesn't care. Complete garbage. Constant problems with this app. Response to developer - just make it work instead of adding features.

Kumo Cloud is unreliable and a poor user experience. The very long list of issues ranges from the servers randomly going offline and your zone controls disappearing to constant crashes. The app doesn't even support the Android back button! Updating to Android 12 has made things even worse: after waking up to a very cold home due to Kumo once again failing, we are going back to using the standard remotes. Mitsubishi clearly is not investing in keeping the app current.

A tremendous improvement! Once past the new and improved flash screen the app now links to my 4-Kumo system within mere moments rather than 15-20 seconds before. Also adds actual room temperature on the icons (yes! But note that any system font size beyond "Small" cuts off bottom of temp display -- Devs, please set app font on icons to remain small regardless of system settings) and systems respond to setting changes much faster, too. The remember log-on on installer is a nice touch ;-) Note to others who have problems: I also had problems but after a lot of diagnosis I traced it to a cable modem that dropped connectivity under Kumo's connection attempts. Strange, but a new modem has had my system stable and great ever since.

I can't control my vertical vanes with this app. If I need to do that, I have to grab the handheld remote and adjust there. Not to mention, any previous settings stored in the remote will override whatever I set with this app. Very frustrating.

I've been using kumo cloud to control 3 mini split units. I have no complaints. I'm able to connect remotely and control them.

Tim. B. Mar 28, 2022

Many of the times the temp won't actually change on the home unit even though the app shows a temp that has been set. For example, app shows set to 75 and the device doesn't heat at all or is running at the prior temperature. Very risky if you rely on this app to change temp in cold weather.

it does the job well, BUT two issues: 1. There is a lot of admin overhead maintaining for facilities with lots of irregular scheduled events, like a church for instance. 2. Facility users don't like that they can't manually adjust areas to their personal taste. (Which is kind of the point of a central control with limited people having control authority. But brace yourself for the multiple opinions in heating and cooling you will receive).

Sep 2018: The heat pump is great. This app and corresponding website access are so buggy and unreliable as to be unusable. Not ok for a $150~200 option. Update Apr 2022: still a trainwreck. The portal has never been updated. Had to call support numerous times to clear all programs so I can try and temporarily regain control. Mitsubishi Electric had years to get it together, and still has not. Inexcusable.

Aha. F. Mar 15, 2022

What a pathetic app. Apparently the android 12 OS update broke the Bluetooth connection between the app and the receiver. So if you need to update your network your $250 receiver is absolutely useless at the moment. It's been 6 months of android 12 and this is still not resolved. Absolute insanity. Mitsubishi should be sued for charging this much for an app/receiver that can apparently be rarely updated.

For such a great HVAC system, they really fell flat with the Kumo Cloud. I have a ducted system and 5 mini split heads. After spending close to 1,000 dollars for the wireless modules, they rarely connect. It is hit or miss on whether I'll be able to connect at any given time. All the nodes are in strong wifi signal strength.

Sha. S. Apr 12, 2022

Won't win any design awards, but gets the job done. Has some latency issues, and sometimes commands don't register, but works well most of the time. Google home integration works but is a little flaky.

fails to connect despite: 1. i am on 2.4Ghz WAN 2. My phone can see the devices over bluetooth if I scan outside the app 3. the devices are blinking the fast 4 blue beep codes as if they want to connect. 4. i am right ontop of them physically. bad app

Pet. S. May 26, 2022

OK, but... does not record amount of time unit is running; also cannot close the app by backing out, have to close from app Mgr (Android version).

Sue. F. Apr 29, 2022

very handy and easy to use app to control heating/cooling. just wish the remote would sync with the app

Dom. D. Feb 13, 2022

Haven't used this app in quite a while. Compared to 3 years ago when I first got my split, this app now connects very quickly to my unit. Took long enough to address this (I had filed multiple tickets when I first got it), but glad to see the improvements.

1st off let me start by saying I love Mitsubishi units. I've been selling them and servicing them for yrs. I have a client that has 4 systems hooked up and all were a pain to get connected. We have since added a 5th unit and it will not connect at all. Most of the time it cant even find the unit. When it does and you try to connect it times out or says server error. Tech support and local F.S.R said to replace interface and still wont work. Works even less depending on phone you are using.

Ric. T. Feb 8, 2022

I can't no longer connect to it. I have tried multiple routers. And it still keeps telling me to check credentials. Nothing I enter or tried allows me to connect my unti. So now I have 4 units that won't connect to the internet.
