It would honestly be so much better if they had recommendations for green foods, instead of offering a book on amazon that isn't even available. The concept is great, the execution is not as great. It seems that the program is bias: some foods that should be green are yellow, even though when it's listed as a kurbo recipe and it's green. But overall, a good app that needs a few updates.
This app is excellent if your aim is to give your kid an eating disorder. Kids are 242 times more likely to develope an eating disorder than diabetes, this "lifestyle change" (its clearly a diet) is focused on the wrong health issue. No one should use it, but at least needs to be labeled as 18+.
This app gave me anxiety. I'm a teenager and I think this app is not set up well. I don't like that only fruits and vegetables are in the green. People need proteins as well (lean meat, eggs, etc.) It made me feel like everything I've done in the past is wrong. I deleted this app before it sent me down the path for a disorder.
This app is a lite version of the weight watchers main app, bad diet advice and all. Most, if not all of the green food is fruit and veg (not all bad), but the problem is in the fact that other foods need to make a balanced diet for a child are in the orange or red areas. Things like bread, cheese, milk, and meats are in these areas and a large part of them are red. I'm sorry but a child needs more then just vegs and fruit to be healthy and this app is telling them all other foods are bad.
The only thing you'll get with this app is an eating disorder. In case you think that's not that bad, remember that eating disorders are the deadliest mental health disorders. With this app, you'll learn to hate your body, fear food, lose pleasure from food, stunt your growth, and likely later regain the weight lost. Shame on you Weight Watcher's
I'd prefer to leave zero stars but since that's not an option here we go. This app is not ok. Children should not be put on diets. Children should not be taught to scrutinize their food choices. And children absolutely should not be used as before and after weight loss advertising like kurbo is doing on Instagram. This needs to be taken down ASAP.
Got this app for my teenage daughter who I felt needed her perspective tweaked after losing 70 pounds "on her own." She seemed to becoming afraid of eating/afraid of regaining pounds she has lost. I really like the traffic light approach to food, and my daughter likes finding "yellow light" recipes accessible on the app. I love the way the informational videos pair the spoken word with drawings. Feel like this is a safe place to send my daughter for information and support.
Great idea for an app. I dont see any problem with it. Red doesnt mean bad, my chart gives me 14 reds in a week to eat. Thats 4 bags of chips, 4 donuts, 4 cupcakes, 2 hot chocolates, in a week!!! Thats a lot of junk food. Its a good visual to see what you are eating and help limit some things. The yellow is for portion control. You are required to eat pastas and rice and protein but smaller amounts, not giant dinner plates full. Its a helpful mindful eating app and theres nothing wrong with it.
The kurbo app has helped me make better eating choices i went from eating around 32 junk foods(red lights) a day to now eating (usually) below 10 junk foods a day. I now drink lots of water aswell instead of just drinking juice. The only complaint i have is that some foods arent listed on the app ( for example whole grain bread) & i also lost 6 pounds with this app. Im hoping that i lose more pounds, become healthier, make healthier food choices & learn self control when it comes to food choices.
Nasty! Why would you market this to kids! The stop light system/good vs bad systems with foods has been proven to be a harmful way to promote and discuss eating!! What a lovely way to give a kid disordered eating. If its not supposed to be about weight, you arent doing a very good job of showing it.
Children are supposed to gain weight as they go through puberty, and dieting only increases one's chance of bingeing. All this is doing is setting kids up for a lifetime of disordered eating. And children shouldn't be posting before and after pics of themselves. This app is dangerous on so many levels.
I love this app it has all ready helped me lose 9 pounds in one week
This app is just a recipe for disaster . It can cause eating disorders. Children's bodies are still growing. My eating disorder started when I was 8. Dietitians and doctors are more qualified than a weight loss app and company to help with being healthy.
This app is fantastic! Not only does it help you make healthier choices, it also helps you to realise how much you eat. I lost 20 pounds in two months just because I wasnt eating as much.
This is a very good app it teaches you alot just wish it was expensive and that the coaches would reply more offted
