Kursk: The Biggest Tank Battle
- The Biggest Tank Battle is a turn based strategy game set on the Eastern Front during the Second World War.
Historical background: In 1943 Germans hoped to shorten the Russian front by eliminating the Kursk Salient, which had been created in the aftermath of the Battle of Stalingrad. Wehrmacht, focusing majority of their elite divisions on the Eastern Front on this relatively small area, envisioned Panzer spearheads breaking through northern and southern flanks of the salient to encircle the Red Army forces. However, the Soviets had excellent intelligence of the German plan, called Operation Citadel. This, and German delays in waiting for new weapons, the Tiger heavy tank and the Panther medium tank, gave the Red Army time to construct a series of defensive lines and gather large reserve forces. This huge concentration of armed forces on both sides led into the biggest tank battle of history on the outskirts of Prokhorovka on 12 July 1943. The question "could German Army have succeeded in this offensive", was kind of left unanswered, as Allied landing in Sicily and the Soviet offensives elsewhere on the Eastern Front pressured Hitler to abort the Operation Citadel only after 10 days.

Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.

excellent. love the ww 1 and 2 games. Is it possible that you could try 1980s WW3 sims ? I am sure with info available you would do a great job and your fans would pay. please keep it going. I 've been wargaming since old AH Blitzkrieg.

It's a good game , very challenging.
Best game Joni has made so far in my opinion. Challenging but doable. Had to play several times before I got what I considered to be a respectable score. I own about 15 game from the Conflict series so far. This is the one I go back to on a consistent basis.
Paid $5 CAD. Couldn't stop playing it for over a week. Awesome value.

I love the conflict series games. The best turn based strategy game i've found. Have bought like 5 now & every one has been worth the $. Only probs i have are accidentally moving units when scrolling screen & would be cool if after beating an enemy unit if we had the choice of taking that space or staying put in space i was attacking from. Great game overall!

One of my favorites, fewer terrain obstacles.only issue with conflict series enemy units seem arrive for every advance I make. Probally realistic to the scenario.edit: real COOL north and south fronts with Krusk right in middle of map. Unique
Good game I like all the different Axis Tank units. Quick game doesnt take 30 hours like Eastern Front

Ready to try your hand at armor tactics? Use the options to create your prefect gameboard, then have at it. A serious challenge, but as always, if you prefer a lighter version, just do it. Another terrific creation, I truly can't say enough about the benefits of each of the Conflict Series games. Thanks for a consistently tremendous experience.
Remember the Germans were thrashed in this battle so don't expect an easy ride. Took me 20 attempts to figure out how to win. Great fun

Another great game and although I appreciate the "extra time" to achieve victory, Hitler kind of "pulled-the-plug" on this one, so a time limited scenario would be more accurate.
Love all the games... would love to see a two player internet version. How about some Pacific theatre games... naval!

Greats setting choosen by joni and historically accurate too . Make more great battle settings like battle of france , case blue or even operation bagration based on the german or soviet side :)
I've played and purchased every one of the Conflict titles. Which may explain my waning enthusiasm for the series. This one is uniformly perfect, but honestly another wwii Eastern Front land campaign just doesn't light me up anymore. Not much distinguishes this from,say, Panzer Missions (maybe my favorite of the wwii titles). I've always kind of felt like this was an historically overblown battle because of the sheer numbers involved. Hitler bailed on this cauldron fight really early....Pacific! Naval!
An enjoyable challenge, which you can keep improving on your performance. Fatigue, leadership, support adds to the fun/challenge. Simple one handed play that you can leave and return at will. Worth every cent. Thanks for the game.

Great game, highly addictive! Lots of variety in terms of units. Intuitive enough to pick up and play right off the bat, but complex enough to not get boring.
