KUT 90.5 Austin’s NPR Station
This new version of our app focuses on two things--a high-quality stream and the program schedule. We've thrown a couple other things in there too, but this is what our listeners have asked for most. We're providing an all digital, efficient stream using the AAC+ codec. It sounds great on all platforms, devices, radios and even over cellular. Tap in some headphones or plug your phone and have a listen.

And if you're still using the legacy KUT app, the white one with blues and yellows, please switch to this version and delete the old one. We'll be turning it off this summer along with the low-bitrate streams it only supports, going back to the days when the cellular networks could barely handle 24 kbps streams.

App crashes randomly. Push notifications tend to open the app but not the actual news story.
Why NPR One buffer better? Your app pause and freeze and fails.
This app has always been a little buggy. Sometimes it takes a long time for the play stream feature to even start. There is a pause/play button for the unlock screen but that doesn't matter because it doesnt work. Now suddenly the app is closing itself when I try to start streaming. Wanted to support the local station app but it looks like I'll need to use the national NPR or some other third party app for my KUT.
works great! i always want to hear the "end of the story" when i get out of the car to go shopping [or whatever I'm doing] and the app is great for that (especially where there is free wifi). there's a small ad right when you turn it on that doesn't bother me at all (it might even just be a "sponsored by" spot, I've never even noticed). works just fine. thanks!
It needs an exit option that closes the App completely. If I use the app for streaming them get in my car the Bluetooth automatically will start playing the stream again. You can blame the car or the Bluetooth but if the App wasn't running in the background it wouldn't be able to do it.

Couldn't live without it. The expanded format adds lots of articles with photos and links, and seems just a little slow to connect with the actual player. Overall, the added richness is worth it.
I don't mind ads when the app first launches or between stories. But I have a problem with missing chunks of a story or program because a promotion breaks in. I'm seeking a better alternative for this reason. Very buggy.
I love KUT but this is a terrible app. Turns on randomly. Freezes. There is no way to exit once it starts playing an ad! I have to uninstall it sometimes just to keep it from opening and playing randomly.
Overall love it. Only problem is that it often pauses for minutes on end or simply stops. Pushing pause, then play restarts reception.
Unlike other NPR apps, for example, WGBH, WBUR, and WAMU, this app will play KUT all night. It does not stop after four hours. I like it that the station is still there in the morning.
KUT/NPR content is excellent. The app on the other hand has much room for improvement. Often freezes and/or will not initiate.
Download for 1st time using Android/Google Play. Live in San Marco's. Get great reception in car but not on house radio, so trying to live stream. I got KUT-FM installed on my phone, but unable to find any access except for reading. Any ideas.? I'm sure it's me or my device, but very frustrated.
Streaming never works. I have tried, over several years, to give this app a go. The thing never works! Either articles dont load or the streaming function doesnt work!
I'm finding this one works better and is more current than my stitcher account
I'm running this app on a Samsung 9+. The app freezes after a text or incoming call. I have to uninstall and re-install app in order to resume play.
It works to get me what I need most of the time, but since a recent update, the app has crashed consistent every time I've gone to start the Livestream.
Was a 5 star app... suddenly stops working, again, on 2nd phone... No more Local NPR. Back to good old reliable WBUR App. At least the Boston chaps can make a steady dependable app. KUT... you are disappoint...
The app is simple and straightforward and the station is fantastic. They fill the time between NPR segments with relevant local information. Superior to my local station.
A wonderful app for keeping up with today's news, especially for local Austin and Central Texas updates. And for long drives, there is nothing better than uninterrupted news/storytelling.
