Been using this app for about a year now. If I could give it negative stars I would. The app is complete garbage. Yeah, it's customizable, but the app is so incredibly clunky at best. I restored NOVA settings and had to set the wigets again... only they wouldn't set. I ended up having to export each space and then click "Import" to set the space accordingly. If I selected existing spaces, it wouldn't load at all. the app barely works.
UPDATE: The ad issue seems to have resolved itself. I really do appreciate and enjoy using this app. I'm tempted to give KWGT 5-stars, it's the best (and really the only) of its kind. But it has gone without some significant updates for awhile, and thus has some features missing that I think are important. To name a few: global variables between widgets, wallpaper bitmap (it would allow manual blur effects), more settings available to those with root, and fixes to layer masking. Just my 2c. :)
Full capabilities, not for the weak of heart. This app is everything you need for full customization. Endless options for free. And even more on the paid version it seems. It has a jpeg type editor and you can change everything. Edit the apps it launches, size, scale, color etc. Such a powerful app, takes some time to get comfortable using. But once you do you'll be stoked. I like to download the free packs and edit them as its easier to learn your way into the program with this method. Cheers!
Widgets are in a random order with no way to sort when looking through a pack you might have downloaded. When you are trying to look through a pack that has 200 widget, it's basically unusable. Ads are the most obnoxious I have seen. Shows a new ad almost in between every entry in the list you are looking through and they pop in moving items around.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled this app for years, but now I'm here to stay. This app (and the whole kustom suite) is perhaps the only way to have complete control over your homescreen UI, which is an invaluable service to android as a platform. Those who don't mind a few minutes of tinkering to learn the controls will never be disappointed.
This app is AMAZING! But... you need a lil' experience, or be willing to learn about coding/developement. Others complain about their widgets distorting when moved or resized. I understand the frustration but honestly that is not the apps fault. It's super basic text-developement, and considering that this app is ♡! I do have hobby-experience, for me it's super easy to understand and use. If you are looking for an easy widget creator where everything is perfectly preset, then this is not it!
in general, this app is fun and can achieve many goals for you in terms of displaying the content you want. it's a bit tricky to keep it working tho. from time to time a widget may display incorrect data, such as the wrong temp or weather forecast, or it may be displaying the content out of place, such as not aligning the way it looks when in the editor. sometimes the widget will just be completely blank. all these types of issues can usually be fixed easily, but it can be annoying.
It's cool and it makes your phone look excitingly different. This would have been really enjoyable if I didn't have to reload my widget several times a day! The widget stays on for a short time and then blanks out. I have to reload it to see it again. I didn't uninstall it because I think it's a bug that can be fixed. I am hoping it's fixed soon otherwise, it makes a good app look really unreliable. What use is a beautiful, exciting but unreliable widget?
It took a while but I'm finally catching on to KWGT. I previously rated the app 3-stars but that was unfair because, as I'm coming to understand, the previous issues I had were due to the widget pack I had installed, not the KWGT app itself. I've since been using better widget packs and they work great (although there have been a few hiccups at times). Creating my own widgets have been a bust lol but it's good practice figuring out where I went wrong. One thing I do wish was possible is the ability to set up different music player widgets with a specific music player app on my phone. I may be wrong but that's what it looks like so far. However, it's not enough of an issue to remove any stars over it. KWGT is fantastic!
The app has got easier to use and I understand it more after having used it for 2 months now. However, I have encountered a wierd glitch. Every time I restart my phone, turn on Ultra Battery saver, or change the theme, once of the widgets on the secondary display just dissappears. I use a Mi device, so maybe that has something to do with it. Any help would be appreciated.
This app is freakin amazing!! The possibilities of what you can do with it is practically limitless! I personally recommend for starters to use a pre-built widget to learn the commands. The problem that I described earlier appears to be a limitation of my own phone: I tried in an other device and it worked properly. It appears that in my phone if I use the music player shortly after turning it on the sync doesn't work properly. Still, this app is the best I ever downloaded
Good app that has powerful functions. I gave it 3 stars because the clock refresh is problematic, and this is a basic function that matters a lot. Compared to the system clock on the status bar and system clock widget, the clock by this widget will delay refresh by half to one second, when the screen is on. When the screen is off, and then turn on, the refresh can delay a few seconds. If you want to just check the time by a glance at the screen, you will get the wrong time. I have already removed all battery optimization, and the notification mode is already set to "forced".
It's not the easiest app to begin using, but, once you've got the basics down, it's seriously amazing being able to create pretty much any widget you can think up (especially if you're picky with your homescreen aesthetic). Highly recommended to anyone who can't find the "perfect" widget for their specific needs, and doesn't mind a little time investment.
Absolutely incredibly versatile overhaul of the entire look of your phone. Lots of tinkering involved but you can make your whole phone look entirely new and different. I just wish you could save different configurations so you could set up different looks and swap them over with a simple preset 'theme' selection depending on your mood. But overall this app is a game changer. I will be using it for every new device for the foreseeable future I'd imagine.
This app is great!! I love it to bits but I'm having an issue with applying a Google assistant shortcut to a Google search bar. No matter which action I choose from the Google app it won't launch the assistant. I've searched Reddit and a few people have been having the same issue. If there's a solution please let me know. Other than that the app is a credit to the developer(s).
I really like this app and have used it without issue for a while now, but I recently have started having a problem where the text and images in my widgets have shrunk almost to the point of unreadability. They look fine in the apps editor, but on my home screen they're tiny. When attempting to resize the elements, they do get bigger but don't return to their original size. I'm not sure what caused this, as it happened very suddenly. Otherwise love the app!
This is an absolutely great tool, or atleast as far as the idea of it goes. The whole interface is abit akward at first but once you get into it it's manageable. The only problem with it really is that many functions seems to return the wrong data. This makes it unfortunatly quite abit less useful. As an example, how is the storage size suppose to be returned, any variant, total, free or otherwise? The value given certainly doesn't agree with the OS.
Reliable. Light weight. Low resource impact. It's perfect for what it does. I've been using it for a year and enjoyed making my own widgets. It runs smoothly and reliably enough that once you set a widget up correctly, you end up forgetting about it, it just becomes a part of your desktop. The learning curve is very mild, even when it comes to custom code writing for a newbie like me with no background in coding. Premium is actually worth it, and the free version is just as good too. A+
Being able to customize your apps is nice. However, the app will randomly change sizes and it gets very frustrating. At first it was anytime the phone updated I would have to resize all my apps as they would be massive taking up so much screen you could even see the whole app. But lately they just randomly get tiny out of nowhere and you go to adjust them and they act like they are the right size and the only way to fix it is restarting the device.
I've been using all 3 Kustom (Pro) aps for over 2 years and absolutely love them. The level of customization can only be made better by incorporating macrodroid, tasker or a similar app. Combined, they're literally limitless. There is a small learning curve but it's to be expected considering the level of customization available. Most, if not all, issues can be resolved by a simple email to the dev or by using one of the other support platforms. 5/5
I've been a huge fan of this app over the last few years, no complaints. Until I saw the new UI. It was much easier to see all of my kwgt templates, now I have to scroll through them without getting the preview that I used to get. Anyway I can find an older version with the previous UI? Edit: I overlooked a setting at was putting my KWGT apps into disabled mode. Once I fixed that it's once again the best widget app on the planet. Again totally my fault.
Updated Review: at first it seemed like everything was PRO only but after feedback from dev and some digging into available options, I was incorrect. There are a lot of free options for widgets to get a feel for how they can look and operate. Customization is initially confusing but just takes some time to get used to it and get it how you want. Also based on reviews and responses, dev is highly engaged, which is not usually the norm.
I came back to change my rating, this app is incredible if you give it a chance. If you get frustrated like I did give it a break and come back when you can dedicate time, it'll be worth it. The app might seem quirky or full of bugs at first but that's only because it responds to your launcher settings unlike other widget apps. It's full of much needed features and allows for some pretty advanced formulas limited only by your ability to program. It's a must have companion app for Tasker, I don't know how I ever lived without it. If you're confused by the dogmatic KWGT fan base like I was just give KWGT a week on your phone and you'll be converted too.
Using it for years and KWGT never gets old. Definitely recommend if you want to create personalized productivity, aesthetic, and functional widgets. I have zero coding or "insert correct tech term for widget making", and did I struggle in the beginning? oh hell ya. But youll catch on quick. This app is really an investment that you're making into your phone; whether it's wanting a screen size battery icon that reads when your phone is gonna die, to a simple search bar switch. Don't give up.
Ultimate customisation. So far is the most solid, reliable, useful app I have ever used, of any type. I'd personally go so far as to say this, (perhaps together with KLWP, but still without it also) is a fundamental, essential app for an Android phone to have. But do make sure you take a little bit of time to learn how it works before getting in to what it can do.. Feels fast and light. Doesnt slow down phone. Will get pro v. as soon as I sort out moving countries...
