KY3 Weather

I get frequent updates on changes in weather that I like however I find that as alerts accumulate, the number that indicates an alert just increases. I can't decrease this "counter" by watching alerts ASAP because there's no way to delete watched ones, save for later, etc. The videos just stack up and sometimes old updates are the first in line to be played when the app is opened rather than the latest as it should be.

When I get a notification, half the time it takes me to an unrelated ad. So. Many. Ads. Plus the notifications often come with a freaking loud annoying voice that comes through regardless of the hour or if the phone is even unlocked. I can put up with the excessive ads, but not the voices. Creepy.

My phone keeps going off and it's nothing important- like pictures or something not even related to weather - "boy who cried wolf" moment going on. There is an ad before the video (which I understand but gets annoying), then the video for the actual app will not load. I've tried everything I could think of - opening and closing, uninstall and reinstall, trying different videos on the app. This app has made figuring out the weather harder recently.

Mostly fine, but here are my pet peeves: 1) It doesn't play nice with my tablet - it won't work in landscape, which is how I use my tablet 99% of the time. 2)The menu at the bottom sometimes disappears and I have to exit and return to find it again. 3) I wish there were some sort of non-video-clip way to get info like projected snow or rainfall as I use the app because I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO WATCH TV! But some maps/info are only avail via video. : (

Very intrusive especially now with a voice coming at you at all hours of the day and night. It is annoying when they alert because it's going to be a lovely evening. We live in a tornado zone, the ONLY alert I need is a tornado alert. There is no way to select for that only. Now the new and 'improved' app comes with a disembodied voice coming from the phone for no good reason. Buh bye.

As useful as this app can be, it borders on harassing me. It essentially takes over my notifications and I cannot dismiss them because they all are immediately sent again. When the voice notification happens it is very loud, and at any hour they happen to choose. I am forced to remove the app. I do a lot of other, more important things with my phone. I don't need weather updates every few minutes.

Very disappointed in this app. Doesn't load half of the time when I go to open it and when it does load it takes forever. Videos also have trouble playing most of the time or won't play at all. Also has too many alerts. My phone gets blown up with weather alerts/updates two to three times an hour throughout the whole day and usually it's insignificant info. I only need alerts for severe weather.

Ads, ads, ads. Did I mention ads? It's really a terrible experience having tornadic weather and having to watch an ad before you can see what's going on around you. I understand the station increases revenue by showing ads, but surely you can program an if(bad_weather) ; show_no_ads. The app itself has a decent UI and the notifications are nice, but wow, reduce the ads I have to see.

Great app, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try & do something about Ron's EXTREMELY LOUD news alert notifications!!! There is no way to turn the volume down (short of disabling the notification) then it's a moot point as you'll not be alerted when needed. Many have complained about this. Please try & correct this needed but annoying feature! Thank you.

Uninstalled AGAIN. We got fed up with amber and other very loud alerts (that we neither want nor need!) waking us up with NO way to disable them. KY3 TV is indeed tops for news and weather in this area, but shame on them for constantly advertising this app on TV. It used to be a great app, and we used to depend on their severe weather alerts through it. C'mon, you can do better! :-)

Great app to keep you informed of the local weather. However, it does seem to have a few bugs and won't update the temperature icon unless I click on the app and it often shuts itself down. Great for getting storm notifications, which is what I mostly use it for, anyway.

This app used to be pretty good, but in the last few months it has completely dropped the ball. If you've read other reviews from that time period you'll notice they all have similar issues. Riddled with ads -even when trying to watch the live stream during severe weather events, I shouldn't have to wait 30 seconds to know if there's a tornado coming my way-, and even after viewing the ad the forecast video you're trying to watch won't load a vast majority of the time. And that's to say nothing about the app continually pushing the exact same "First Alert" notifications to your phone multiple times per day, with no options to decide which types of notifications you actually want. While not necessarily an issue with the app itself, the amount of "First Alerts" is unreasonable. If we get a first alert for every little thing (like a somewhat windy day), it will make people numb to them, and they'll stop paying attention until it's too late and they didn't properly prepare for actually severe weather. It just feels like a cheap, corporate gimmick to get people to click the app to generate more ad revenue through the app. And when I say it feels like that, I know for a fact that's the motivation behind that change. But hey, it wouldn't be the first time a group like Gray Television put making as much money as possible over public health and safety, would it? The weather team over at KY3 has always been standout in my opinion, providing insightful forecasts to help me better understand the manic weather we experience in SW MO, but this app does the team a huge disservice by delivering a broken experience to users who need accurate weather updates as they happen; not 12 hours later when the weather event has already passed. The changes that are needed are essentially these: remove ads from the video forecasts, ensure that said forecasts actually play when selected (I still don't understand how the ad can play just fine but there are then issues for the video I wanted to watch in the first place), and reserve First Alerts for incoming severe weather only. Do these and you'll have one of the best and most complete weather app experiences on the market.

This map box thing is horrible. I'm giving this very few days to be fixed and then I'm using a different weather app. Uninstalling this one. Do not update! You'll regret it. Also the annoying ads across the bottom...seriously! Also we have lost the futurecast on the radar. Who cares about past. Not helpful at all. This app is pretty much junk.

The app never fully loads up the ads will pop up before any of the actual weather information... if it ever loads the information. Have to close and open app several times to load one part of the app. Most of the time I just give up and go to the website. The widget works great but the actual app runs way to slow.

I like having a weather app that will send out alerts when there is bad weather approaching. This station sends out too many weather alerts for nothing. Some days there is as many as 10 weather alerts on a pretty day. Kinda reminds me of the boy that cried wolf. Stop sending out alerts unless there is a need for the alert. I may just change apps for my weather.

It is such a shame. This would be and has been such a fantastic app that I have used almost religiously for years. For some reason now, there are station alerts that sound off at very inconvenient times and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to turn them off. I am afraid if this is not fixed soon, I will have no choice but to uninstall and go with another app.

Lightning alert function doesn't do jack. We just had a close lightning strike here and it never went off. This leads me to believe that it would not be very reliable at all for notification of severe weather bulletins, either. Thus, I have put Ping4Alerts and another lightning-tracking app back on my phone to cover audible alert functions.

KY3 weather app is great, except the font on the map. It seems as though the font makes the letters appear too close together on the city and towns names. This happened when I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it recently to get the hourly forecasts which had disappeared. I still love KY3!!

Includes day, hour, and good deacriptions. The forecast videos play right away sometimes, other times have to hit play. I am not super technical so it could be user error. My only gripe is the notification alert is abrubt and scares me very frequently, I would reccomend a softer noise before the voice announcement, but thats my biggest issue so 👍
