LA Metro Transit Watch

The LA Metro Transit Watch-Report It app is a quick and easy way for L.A. Metro transit riders to communicate directly to Metro about suspicious activity or quality of ride problems at a Metro station or while riding a Metro bus or rail line. Transit riders have the option of directly calling Metro Security or instantly sending a photo or a text message about a quality of ride problem or suspicious activity. The LA Metro Transit Watch-Report It app is designed for use throughout the Metro system, including underground stations. In areas without cellular or Wi-Fi service, the app will store information that is sent by the user and will resend it when cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity returns. The LA Metro Transit Watch-Report It app is a component of the www.transitwatchla.org awareness training website.
Additional Features:Report-It has several additional options for transit riders to use. These include:

- The Transit Watch L.A. website., which features anti-terrorism awareness training videos, a Transit Watch quiz and a Kids Korner with games, puzzles and transit safety information for children.

- The 8–Signs of Terrorism, anti-terrorism awareness training videos as developed by the Department of Homeland Security.

- The ability to monitor Metro L.A. Tweets, Metro Service Alerts, Metro L.A. Elevator Tweets, and TWLA alerts and news videos.

- Maps for Metro Rail, rail construction and Metrolink service.

Definitely in need of improvement. Very temperamental and crashes. Reporting an incident takes awhile to submit. Wish it had camera zoom.

Does not work. Takes forever to sumit an incident report and even then it never alows you to sumit it. It'll be faster to call the sheriff department

This app appears to be abandoned by the developer. Extremely dated material and constantly crashes. I have no confidence that any incident report would actually go to anyone.

Piece of crap. 4 bars of 4G and it can't connect to the internet. At home on my wifi and it can't connect to the internet. Useless.

Whichever contractor was tasked with making this app must have taken the money and ran. It crashes constantly. I've been in several situations that required either security or maintenance, but this app crashes every time.

I really like the concept but interface is wonkly and not intuitive. Response times are a bit slow. Can be frustrating when youre stuck on a train with people that are acting out.

The first time I used the app the sheriff's dept were very quick and responsive, but the female dispatcher got upset with me for not dialing 911. Yeah, I'm going to place a call right in front of the perps and talk when they're close enough to hear me. She's crazy if I was going to call 911 and make myself a victim.

The app will become useful once it's features begin to actually work. The alerts do not link with Twitter at this time and of course the lack of Wi-Fi in tunnels is a issue (not app developers fault) Metro's dispatch needs a text message interface instead.

1. Too bad there is no WiFI on the trains. 2. Red Line incident - 8 months ago, a young black man (Guess is Ethiopian) was rubbing his privates on two blacks girls that were sitting down. They were scared off and moved seats. Then on the Santa Monica/Vermont stop, he got on the escalator up with his pants down showing his rear. Im sure he's still up to no good. 3. Red Line incident - I also witness a black man physically assault a woman and then apologize to her after he calmed down. It's cases like this where this app comes in handy. It's just too bad there is no immediate way of communicating. On a side note, glad the app has the Metro routes.

Want to see if it can actually do everything it says it could do. And I am also interested if it's just information for them or will they actually respond to an incident quickly and accurately! Because I always encounter violent drunks at bus stops.

This app is to do the job for the government employees who get paid way more then these metro drivers who hate there job!

Would be better if it allowed user to upload image from gallery. User can not be very inconspicuous in reporting when flash on is built into app.

It might help for LA Metro to provide some guidance as to what events are expected to be reported through this app. For example; if vandalism such as graffiti is witnessed while it is occurring, should that be reported? What is the expectation of response from LA Metro? What is the expectation from the user regarding their safety? Where do these questions get addressed?

I really don't know what the other reader was talking about when the review this for less than a perfect score. I tried it this morning at Union Station I tried it last night in the valley and I tried it just now on the west side and every time it worked perfectly. The safety of my family is everything to me and knowing that we might stop something serious before it happens is a huge benefit to all of us. we have 5 Android phones in my family and it worked on all 5 great job keep up the good work!

I feel so much safer that I can immediately report any potential problems with Metro just using my phone. I often use public transportation in the evening and this is so handy. I just tried it and it works like a charm! Thanks for empowering us Metro riders.

Good idea but app doesn't function correctly

The app does not work! There is all publicity about this great app, and it is a big DUD! It should have been tested before it was launched. The app does not work! There was all this publicity about this great app, and it is a big DUD! It should have been tested before it was launched.

App seems to function fine on my old moto photon 4g 2.3.5 so I don't get what all the fuss is about?

Eri. H. Jun 26, 2013

I downloaded the app and it doesn't even open. Fail.

Love the ability to quickly report security issues. App works great. Evo 4g running cyanogen 7.

Nothing special to the app. It takes report of incidents and uploads to local authority.
