Lanterna 2 (IceBlink RPG)

Lanterna 2 (an IceBlink Engine RPG)
Story and Turn-based role playing game (RPG) implementing a classic old-school computer RPG style.

This app currently contains chapter 1 of 3. This app will be updated with the next two chapters as they become available.

Progress Reporting Feature:A fun new way to share your play through experience with others. There is a toggle button on the main map screen labeled "PR" (bottom right toggle button). Pressing this button will turn Progress Reporting on and off. If you do not wish to share your play through experience, no problem, just turn off Progress Reporting. If you do wish to share, leave the "PR" button on. If Progress Reporting is on, then at a number of milestone events, it will send your party's current stats to our Google Analytics Dashboard. I will post a weekly listing of Progress Reports to our forums (see our website link below and then look for the forums tab on our page) for others to share in the experience. No personally identifiable information is collected, just information about your party. The tag that will separate your Progress Report from others is your main PC's name. We are excited to see how others are enjoying our adventure stories so we hope you enjoy this new feature as well. I'd like to add a few different threads for full party, duo, and solo run play throughs.

"Approximately 60 years have passed since The Great Battle of Charn (see "Lanterna 1"). After that battle, the creatures and followers of Zorn continued to grow in numbers and eventually run the people of Charn from their homes. They escaped into the forest and eventually crossed through a great mountain range via the mountain dwarves passage. On the other side of the mountain they began to build a small town with a few outlining villages. The followers of Zorn eventually stopped hunting the Charnians and returned to their lands. They began to lose focus (since there was no one to torment) and eventually separated into different clans and tribes based on race (goblins, orcs, ogres, dark dwarves, zornians, etc.) About 10 years ago your (the PC’s) father, Adwen, led a large group of Charnians in an attempt to return to Charn. Since the attacks had pretty much ended, they felt that maybe Zorn's evil creatures had all destroyed each other and returning to Charn would be safe. The caravan never returned. You and your brother were young at the time. Your mother has never recovered from the loss of her husband. A month ago your brother led a small group to try and find out what happened to the first caravan. They were only supposed to be gone for a couple of weeks, but haven't returned. You have decided to form a very small (thus undetectable by the evil creatures) party to search for your brother."

Features:
- designed for phones, but scales well on tablets (I have a galaxy tab 3 8").
- NO ads and NO in-app purchase stuff.
- turn-based combat similar in style to the SSI Gold Box games.
- great RPG story telling conversation system.
- single player RPG (you control all party members) game.
- three races, five classes and many spells and traits to choose from.
- multiple saves available (save often).
- lots of items to find and wield.

The IceBlink Engine is inspired by some of my favorite cRPGs (many being old retro style RPGs) such as the SSI Gold Box Games, original Bard's Tale, Ultima, and the Infinity Engine games (like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale) and my 6+ years of experience with building adventure modules in Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2.

Would be a great game, like the 1st one, except that w/o rest areas (which you even had in the 1st) it is basically untenable - damn near impossiple to survive. Not enough money yo buy enough potions along w/ anything else. Extremely unbalanced!

I was able to beat it, but it is tough not bring able to heal up for free. You have to look at that as part of the challenge of the game though. You have to constantly consider the efficiency of what you are doing and save often. It was worth the 99 cents. Also, I would have liked more arrows availiable. Tip: Use a cleric as your protagonist and you will have a little more healing available between precious camp kits. I will say I managed to beat it with one extra camp kit in my inventory, so it is doable.

I've enjoyed these that I've downloaded. One question though, how do I know when I'm done with chapter 1?

I like the game. How do you rest or recover SP or HP besides potions or spells?

Game crashes when you try to save. Also, game is a great idea but very clunky and NOT intuitive.

Liked the game till I figured out there was no way to rest. The interface was easy to use and didn't require a lot of explanation. The graphics were fine, even smoother than Lanterna the first game. Also the spells and skills worked in ways that I was familiar with in other games so that made them simple to use. So there was a lot that I liked. Unfortunately not being able to rest to heal up was a game-breaker for me. I understand that some people would enjoy that aspect of the game to be a fun challenge, and that's cool. It's just not fun for me. I'll still look at the other games though because I generally like these types of games.
