This game is direct improvement from the first game like sequels are supposed 2 be. I just started playing it, and I like it so far. It retains everything good from the first like an interesting storyline, good characters, hot scientist lady and improves them. Balancing the gauge and stopping them from depleting is much harder than the first game and there are more run ender cards, but that doesn't detract from the experience and it's still fun. This game is a 5/5 in my book just like the 1st one
Awesome. Lots of cool story-line elements and secrets, packs a lot of great content in what appears to be a simple card-oriented game. Surprising amount of strategy, but not too difficult as to be frustrating. And the "Creator" that pops up throughout the game is awesome, really cute and super creative haha. Love this game, and can always come back to it even after not playing for a very long time
A good prequel to the first one. I hope there is a sequel to the story! • Mechanics are simple, easy to understand (5/5). • Simple yet artistic graphics (5/5). • Great story! Canonical to the first one. Unpredictable, good twists (5/5). • The game's a bit fustrating since it's repetitive and it's tough to survive (3.5/5). • Saw a few grammatical mistakes, I hope you fix it.
This is exactly what I'd want to see in a version 2 of a game. expanded plot, upgraded mechanics, overall this is a step up from the first game in every aspect. it's just as fun, though it's also just as repetitive. I also miss the google play connection that the first has. nonetheless a great game.
I have encountered a few bugs while playing 1.) The voice acting is normally great but sometimes when I start, the voices would get mixed (It sounds like there are two or more voice actors speaking at the same time.). 2.) When I agree to watch ads, it wouldn't play and just move on with the story. 3.) My phone would freeze often while I am swiping and had crashed twice now. These bugs are annoying but since this is just the beta version I think it's great so far and will recommend to my friends.
I've played the original, and this game is great. Unfortunately, I do have some caveats. I've noticed this game is much longer, by several decades. This hurts realism and more importantly the gameplay. One problem I've had with the first was that; there was a point when I started to swipe left and right just to get to the next part of the story. I was bored. In the this one it's worse since it takes even more time to get to the end. Another part that was troubled me was the scales. For realism, the scales were either balanced for the purity of the heart, or imbalanced because of the evils of the heart. In Egyptian mythology, the feather was absolute and never weighed heavier than the heart. If the scales do affect gameplay; it's really hard to tell which alignment you are once you get past the menu screen where you're at on the scale. Those are my two(four) complaints, but everything else is fine. The addition of event that either lower or increase your stats is a fine edition to the game. It's good that there're events that can kill you if you swipe. It's not too obtrusive, and put you down. It's the right amount. Graphically its superb for the time and setting. The story overall exceeds the original. It give a sense of mystery with sci-fi elements. There are some bugs but nothing game breaking i.e. crashes, freezing. Great job with the game and look forward to the next game.
I think this game is smooth and has great gameplay, like the original Lapse, however at certain times even if there is nothing seriously wrong with the stats, I will die (in the game). Perhaps this makes us realise that we have to make more wise choices when swiping the cards but this is very frustrating when I want to make a new highscore. I hope this gets taken into consideration, when making the full game. Good luck!
Like it's predecessor, Lapse 2 is a joy to play, with well-placed ads and a number of interesting situations to deal with. A part of it won't make much sense without knowing the earlier game (something this one warns you about early). I found the "speaking" sounds of the characters to add flavor in the beginning, but was glad to have an option to switch them off after a while.
It is an amazing game, can't even lie about that, not only is the story fluent, it's exciting and alomst impossible to predict. My only concern and while it isnt a ultimate turn off is that you can only have four perks, its a bit annoying especially if you're trying to live lol. my suggestion is either increase the ammount able to be carried or allow us to choose which one we wanna get rid of. Also allowing us to choose if we wanna use them because it can be wasted if we lost in two categories.
Loved this game, I enjoyed quite alot of what was going on and you could really get into the story. I do have two points I want to touch on though. 1. Repetitiveness. The first few years are cool and the variety suits it and makes you read what each character is saying. But after about 10 years I got to the point where I didn't even read the non story cards anymore, I just swiped with what was better for the meters. 2. Replayability. There wasn't any real reason to play after finishing.
(See review in the first Lapse game) Again, another fantastic storyline and plot, an immediate improvement on the last game: giving the player the oppertunity to try again by watching video ads, the pyramid exploration thing was also a unique experiment, and the average length of time while in power seems to have improved. However, in my experience I found it difficult to progress and expand the storyline cards. I'll be looking forward to seeing more from this series in the future.
I really enjoy spending time playing this game between classes or on lunch breaks. This new iteration gives a lot of opportunities to see new cards more frequently so it stays more gripping longer. The balance systems still need some tweaking, I think. It seems too simple to get stuck having low values on all 4 stats, or maybe I'm just not good enough yet haha
The game is absolutely addictive and fun, like its predecessor. I can't stop relishing in how unique the story is for both, and due to easy design and function, it can entertain me for hours on end. The only complaint I have is how when I die, the year goes back, and I feel as though I am getting farther from the end. Though this is minor, and the game still deserves five stars for its easy design, addictive gameplay, and storytelling features!
The game is excellent with stylish graphics. The story based concept is both engaging and fun. But I think this game lack something a feature for the gamer to save game progress as the game proceeds and to come back later to resume where he left not to start all over again. Yes, a feature for saving progress will be benefitting. Other than that, EXCELLENT game. Thanks very much to the developers.
I recommend taking the games advice and getting at least one ending of the first game before playing this one. It spoils one of the big twists within the opening minutes. To start off, this game has an interesting blend of sci-fi and historical fiction, and just like the previous game, you have to balance the nation's spirituality, happiness, military, and economy, and prevent any one stat from getting too low or high. The choices are also lot more diverse this time around. Easily a 5 star game.
Just as awesome and engaging as the first game, it implements new features, a variety of endings, and many characters. Humor is implemented into the game well, although it's mostly serious. After a while of playing, the dialogue options become repetitive, but it's still an amazing game considering that advertisements are completely optional. As this game implements concepts and characters from the 1st game quite well to make it a proper sequel, you should play the 1st game before this.
PLAY THE FIRST ONE FIRST! There is no significant difference in gameplay and the graphics are the same and all but irrelevant. The story demands you play them in order. It's worth it. Play both, and play for all endings. If you're unsure at first, be advised that when you "die" you don't start again; you've still made progress. Just keep going and you'll see that these games are masterpieces of simplistic gameplay and complex plot lines.
Honestly a great experience, much easier then the first game, but still having difficulty with decisions on the story and quest lines. Though there are a few problems with the game as a whole, mainly with certain events not giving you a choice and just lowering one of your stats like money. Events like that kinda ruin a game based off of only making yes or no like choices. Overall though the story is great and leaves me hungry for more! Great game though just a slight few issues.
At least as good as the first's gameplay with a better main storyline but worse endings. There are more ambiguous choices but at least you have more of a say in the story. The good and evil scale allows you to actually feel like your non-gameplay choices matter. It can be harder to grasp what is a good or bad choice at first since lapse 1 was in our time and this game is in the past, which creates a cultural barrier for the player that makes things difficult.
Pros : -It provides much needed context and backstory for the events of the first game. -The writing and progression of the story leave you always on the edge of your seat or speculating what might happen next. - The way random elements of the game start piecing together to form the bigger picture is also a plus. - The ancient Egypt setting and the mesmerizing soundtrack are also a plus. Cons: -The cards are somewhat unbalanced. -The gameplay loop drags for a bit too long. Overall it's good.
I played the first game, and this is building off of it so well! I have a paper and pencil to right down the key points to try to piece the story together. I still couldn't achieve the second ending: back to the past, though. You would need to play the first game to fully apprieciate (did I spell that right?) the game. I give this 5 stars, " The Creater" popping in and out of your games, asking if I am enjoying myself, and to rate it.
great take on the "reigns" game format with it's own unique story and technical flourishes. hard to put down. Now that there are 2 stories occupying the lapse "universe" (albeit at different times in history) it would be interesting to see the story head in other directions. there are endless possibilities for future iterations.
All the things I said about the first game and more apply with this game. It balances the task of sustaining your rule while every now and then throwing in story elements that always, without fail, surprise me and interest me. I also appreciate the little things like the music and voice lines. all in all, a lot more polished than ths first, with a just as interesting story.
Although this game is still on beta, it's been a wonderful experience. It's more challenging than Lapse: a Forgotten Future, at least to me. I love the chance cards and how the purity/weight of the heart is included. Makes the game a much better experience! No bugs that I've noticed whatsoever so far, though I had trouble finding this game/ knowing it existed because I didn't think the "lapse 2: Before Zero" thing displayed on Lapse: a Forgotten Future was a button/ link. Love the games though!
I 100% love this game. The only reason I changed the review from 5 stars to 4 is because with the new update, the symbol's color changed and I can't really see without effort if they dropped or raised, so I eventually loose if I'm not paying extreme attention to the symbols. I know it's supposed to be tricky, I mean, that's the fun of it, but me personally find it uncomfortable. hope you keep it in mind, maybe make it optional? anyways, other than that, amazing game❤️
A direct follow up to Lapse (definitely play it first), with equally as gripping of a story with pleasuring music and simple gameplay. Taking a little dungeon exploration inspiration from their other game Reigns, adds a unique touch to the gameplay that wasn't in the first iteration. Although still in beta, the game already feels fully made with a few (essentially unnoticeable) grammar and gameplay errors that should get corrected by the final iteration. Overall one of my favorite mobile games.
A great game continuing the story in the series. It had good simple graphics and runs on my phone where I cant cant play any good games. The controls are simple too, however five options for good areas such as (SPOILER), mazes and such. However you should play the first game to both get the story and understand the value system because in this sequel it gets more difficult. Overall a really good game that doesnt take much storage and runs smoothly while entertaining you for several hours!
Just as good as the first one. Play it first if you haven't already or this one will just be confusing as hell. It has the same hooks as the original, (good story, plenty of characters and a good progression system). Sadly it also has the same flaws, (the gauges can force certain choices which affect the narrative, plus it can get a bit samey after a while). Overall though I think it's a really good game for someone who has the patience to get through it. I hope there will be a third.
