LapTrax - Advance Lap Timer
World's first automatic, camera-based lap timing app for athletes, coaches, and RC vehicles, including vehicles/multirotors/quad/drones. 4 Modes of operation:
Manual/Tap: record laps for 1-4 racers by screen-tap, or by using headphone/bluetooth device buttons
Motion Detection: use device camera to automatically record laps for a single racer
ColorTrax: use device camera to automatically record laps for 1-4 racers based on a unique color on each racer
Remote Link: listen to a race on your own device, great for spectators, or rc drivers
Using the advance, camera-based modes, you can register a race participant and the app will keep track of the lap times each time they pass by the camera, automatically. Track up to 4 colors or participants with one phone! Great for athletes, coaches, RC vehicles and more!

Feb"2022" this app does not work at all anymore OR it just became so unintuitive thru updates I cant figure it out. Instructions are poor fyi (no step by step means folks are simply guessing. Apps should be intuitive or have good instructions to be worth using. How do Dev.s even forget such basic design rules?) The video link has nothing to do with THIS app, it just reviews other lap count softwares. Link might as well be to Bugs Bunny cartoons; funner. old review > A little glitchy but neat.
It works but the option to only have the announcer say the lap number instead of giving the lap time doesn't work. Irritating to hear that unpleasant voice comment on each lap time, every lap. Drives me crazy. Please fix.
Fantastic App! I love the display and motion detection! Spoken lap times are tremendously valuable! Works flawlessly on S9+ I would like to see a YouTube video on how to use each function. A listing of laps and times at the end of a race would be nice. It only gives a partial list. I would love to see a Minimum Lap Time option to weed out false double lap captures like what can happen when your RC car crashes in front of the camera. Whomever it was that made this app, Great Work!!!
App works well for motion detect, but I can't get colour mode to work. Whatever background/car combination is used the app claims the car colour exists in the background even when it clearly doesn't - so can't progress past the new racer setup. In the beta options is what looks like an older detection mode which seems to work, but the default mode doesn't seem to work on at least the two devices I've tried it on:- a Samsung S7 and a Lenovo tablet.
Exellent app! Using it for slot cars and it is very consistant. This app brought a whole new level of enjoyment to the family races!
using it for slot cars... is good if u have good color cars or add color paper or tape to the top of the car... noticed it depends quite a lot on the camera quality depending on light conditions... but great solution... would be amazing to have chromecast with more stadistics dashboard functionality. but juat being pickey :)
Accurate lap timing for my slot car, tested alongside my Scalextric C7042 and never missed a lap today for over 100 laps, I'm still figuring it out but looks great, I had mine resting on top of a foot bridge looking down.
I must be too fast for this thing to pick me up. It only picks me up 1 out of 10 times and I have to be going slow for it to register that I passed by.
It will not detect the car. Zero help.
Color trax doesn't work. Motion only works. I emailed you and no response. Please fix this.

This app was exactly what we needed for our R/C Rally group. We've used it to time our races every second weekend for the past year. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Also, the fact that it's free with no ads is amazing. This is something we'd gladly donate to.
