I have logged over 6000 hits across 3 Android devices. Each device has its own pickyness about light. I have a flashlight attached to the tri-pod with that, it seems to help with the light it wants. Then you can make the room dark enough to really train with nite sights. I have not used the targets designed to help the laser. I use the Standard USPA cardboard target with a Generic laser.
When it works it's great, but too often it gives me the message that the target scene is changing, then it locks and makes me set it up again. The image is constantly moving like it's trying to do image stabilization but it never stops, even if I'm several yards away from the tripod. Then lighting is too picky, it's either not enough or too much. I can't make it happy. I'll try it on my wife's IPhone and see if it's any better. Update: IPhone works better. I wish my game purchase transferred.
Great Dry-Fire training app. I highly recommend getting the same simple and affordable kit I got for $79. I don't understand the comments that said it was difficult to setup. Just follow the onscreen instructions, if still having problems their FB page has links and videos. I was up and running in minutes with no issues. I will be buying additional calibers and the laminated spiral bound book of targets next. Try it and you will save on ammo costs.
The app is simplistic and works intermittently. I'd rate it a 3. It is loads of fun. The package they sell is a total ripoff charging up to $150 for what can be bought for about $60. Instead, use a laser bullet (about $30-$40), a phone stand (about $20) and mirrorcast to a TV. Then pat yourself on the back for having saved way more than $50!
Better than the other target apps that I've tried. Even friends that bought G-sight and iTargetPro enjoy this app. When calibrated and set up correctly, I've had fewer unregistered shots and zero unfired shot register. Everyone loves the Reload option so that you don't have to walk up to the phone to start again, and the scaled targets are great to get longer distance practice in a small area. It's unfortunate that Android's last update effected the app. Patiently waiting for an updated patch.
Will occasionally force my phone off, or restart. Not every shot is picked up by camera. But besides that this works great. I think if I get propper lighting it will register my shots better. So its not the products fault. I will give 5 stars after it stops crashing my phone. Everything else works as expected. I've printed out my own target.
After about 5 minutes of training, phone overheats. Using Galaxy S9. It also has difficulty registering all of my hits. Using LaserHit targets on a white, non-glossy poster board. I hit inside the A section of the B-3 style target and it did not register. If the company could provide guidance as to how to address these issues, my rating will change. Ultimately, the system is good if it would work properly.
Really great for speed and accuracy training. Just wish the timer had a random function that you could set for between like 3 and 10 seconds. This would be more realistic with USPSA training. Also, the steel training with 2 targets seems a bit finicky to set up and get hits to register. But all in all, really great training tool.
Edit2: I have bright garage lights on the target and still cannot get the app to give me the go ahead. It is a shame I cannot give negative stars. Edit1: I expected higher quality for the price I paid for the entire system. I chose to review here so other customer get the entire picture. This system comes with very little instructions and poor quality parts. I regret getting this system and will be looking for one that is more user friendly and quality materials.
I wish the purchase of the system included all the target apps. The setup is not difficult. It seems to complain about lighting, but I have found that it works. I can tell you that so far it replicated my shooting groups at the range. So hopefully I can use it to correct my habits. I would have given this a 5 stars if all the target apps came as part of the system purchaae
I find having to acknowledge the same stuff every time annoying, but it's important for new shooters. I don't yet have a training cartridge, so I use my green laser sight which works flawlessly. I just point my phone at a wall, adjust the light and flick my laser sight on and off to register hits. I can't wait to get a laser cartridge to practice with, but I need to start working first.
Waste of money. Tried on 3 phones. I have infinitely adjustable studio lighting. Multiple tripods. App constantly thinks lighting is changing. Constantly thinks target has moved. Rarely ever calibrates, and when it does, it loses calibration almost immediately. Company hasn't updated the app in months. They have our money, so I guess they don't care to fix it in spite of constant negative reviews reporting the exact same issues. Garbage. Developer should be embarrassed.
Worked well with a printed IDPA style target. Recognized hits flawlessly. I would buy more "games" and use this as a regular training tool. EXCEPT for the countdown beeps. These let you know exactly when the start beep is coming. So, instead of a competition type start (know it's coming but not exactly when) you get a start that it is hard not to anticipate. I tried silencing it and just drawing based on the screen, but that is even worse. You are focusing in the wrong place.
My review is this.. first I would like to apologize to laserhit and their personnel for leaving negative reviews and bad messages stemming from frustration trying to get this system to work when I ordered the wrong parts to begin with. Even though I was a total turd and didn't have nice things to say to them on the last review and my Facebook messages and email. They sent me all the right parts and I set it up right and now it counts dang near every shot. This is an amazing piece of technology.
Great tool. I've put almost 6,000 rounds through my PPQ45, since June 2020. It has saved a minimum of $1,440 FMJ (pre 2020) to $10,500 JHP (2021 prices). The only downsides are the recoil of a live round is missing, and getting the perfect lighting can be a challenge. Overall, great product. (PS get the 58" tripod unless you have a tall platform to put the short tripod.)
Really helpful in target practice and also drawing practice, which is not permitted at my local ranges. I'm an Android user, set the app up on my phone and also my Galaxy Tablet. I prefer using the tablet, obviously because of the larger screen. PLEASE do update the app so Android users can have the ability to do timed draws like Apple users! PLEASE?!
app is good. you get 2 free target settings. The other 2 are $10 each. However the actual cartridge I received (HD) for 9mm only worked for 4 days. 228 shots - supposed to last for at least 3000 before you "might" have to replace the cap. 228 - 228 4 days of practice. now I am waiting to see how good the customer service is. Might should have not gone with laser hit product. ***** Update...customer service responded very quickly and is sending a new cap. No questions just providing good service.
Once you can get it to cast, works great! Setup on the phone was easy, but the wireless cast via miracast was problematic with a note 8 running Android 9. Did get it to work (don't ask me how) and now it's a great training aid!
App causes my phone to reboot. Worked at first (sort of). extremely aggravating app. I should have read reviews of the app before buying their setup. Way to go laserhit. *NOTE: HD cartridge may not be compatible with some Android phones: download LASERHIT app to check compatibility before purchase* I challenge anyone to figure out how to check hardware comparability before purchasing. See an issue with the above statement from their website. Fyi. Other vendors apps work fine.
Works well. Using on an old Android phone I had sitting around. Other apps acted flaky and less functional using my old tech phone and a simple paper target, tacked to the wall. No extensive stats history, but captures every laser hit every time. Great app if you desire a simple target practice tool.
Not impressed. The tripod provided for the product is flimsy. The app requires you pay more for other games and the reset target doesn't line up well. I am returning the product hopefully can get a refund. I would not recommend this.
Too many "acknowledgment" screens. The interface is very cumbersome and not intuitive. The developers definitely need to hire someone who specializes in used interfaces.
Completely revamped new look and new Voice assistant allows for custom options. Auto-reload feature in Black Steel Practice takes the purpose and quality of my training to a brand new level. I love It ! Keep on great work, guys!
UPDATE 2/14/21 This app has been restored to its former glory! Every thing works perfectly now. Hats off to the developers! I tried all of the alternatives during the time they were working to resolve my problems, and this is far and away the best training app out there. Thanks for your perseverance!
It was a little frustrating at first to get the setup with lightning but after that I love it. I have purchased several different calibers and all work great. I'm on android and the only thing I couldn't figure out was the miracast option but even without the app it is an excellent way to train. I can say that after practicing, when I went to the range I was Much more accurate!
