Lazarillo Accessibility GPS
Lazarillo is a specialized GPS app that brings mobility tools for the blind, it was designed and implemented with support of blind people.
This app allows you to use its accessibility functions for free, just requires a few amount of cellular data or Wi-fi connection.
To collaborate with blind people, Lazarillo principal feature is to be beside the user providing essential information that allows displacement and autonomy.
The goal is to help the person to reach the chosen place in a simple way, receiving Lazarillo indications by voice and notifications of nearby places, institutions, shops, etc, allowing communication between the user and the city.
The app contains the following features:
Exploration: Provides your actual position, nearby places, and street intersections while you are scrolling.
Category searches: Allows to find nearby places from a specific category such as banks, health, food, shop, art, entertainment, etc.
Specific searches: Allows to find a route to any place using voice or keyboard.
Help information:
Lazarillo provides information about establishments that work with blind. The app is related to a web platform where the institutions will be able to show important information about events, courses, workshops, and any data that a blind person may need. In that way Lazarillo collaborates with these institutions expanding the communication to user reaching better connectivity between people with visual disability.
Lazarillo also is able to guide people inside places that have our indoor navigation service. Through the installation of this system inside buildings or close spaces that require universal accessibility, Lazarillo will send specific information from these spaces answering to the user about their specific need. On the exploration mode the blind person can obtain general information of the place and choose the action to do.

I would love to use Lazarillo again ! Being blind, I know the value of a good quality navigation app. However, it goes to a notice to change the voice; but no way is provided to do this, and I have to restart my phone just to get off of the noticed page. I gave 3 stars for this purpose, it worked great for years; but now it doesn't seem to. If a way is provided to get around this voice notice, I'll go to 5 stars; because I'll be able to use the app again, until then ? ? ?
Bello, This app iz wonderful for us people with visual impairment. One thing i would like to request you is to add a mode of navigation of metro ...there is walking , car, bus, u er but not metro. Ease add this feature as well as it will be very hpful for us.
This app is terrible. It couldn't even ascertain where I was. The voice guiding you, it was telling me I was 2 doors away. It sounds retarted and instead of saying Road it said r d. It gave the name of a local pub, The Centenery as The Centurian! It showed businesses that no longer exist. When telling you where bus stops are it was saying 'in front of you'. There is a row of houses in front of me! Whoever devised this apo has absolutely no understanding of what it is like to be sight impaired.
I am sightless, and love this app. I have tried most on playstore, most are useless. Thank you for taking the time to develop it. Can i help improve it as a totally blind user. I am 63, lost my sight 2 years ago. Local o&m specialists are terrible, i live independent now with this app.
Can youa add support for local language and voice.
Very useful app. it is now my primary navigation app. I like its features and the interface of this app is perfect. highly recommended to all blind and partially sighted persons.
Finally, this app gives turn -by-turn instructions. One really important feature here is tu get directions by clock, and another would be the Compass.

The maps are too out of date to be very useful. Also it no longer opens the Moovit app which is already installed on my phone. I like the idea of it though. Update 19.6.21: Thank you. The 'Moovit' app now opens again.
This GPS does everything I need it to do. It took some time for the favorites to work all the time, but now they do. Lazarillo is perfect. I don't require a Humanware Trekker or anything else. Thanks loads. Ed
It needs voice instructions about how to set up and navigate through the choices I couldn't even tell if how to set up voice commands. Remember I am blind. If I seem angry I apoligize just frustrated

Really good idea. Would be nice if there was some way to decrease the level of verbosity. For instance I don't need to hear every single bus stop on my route when I'm walking. New line maybe there's a way to do it and I just haven't found it yet. New line
